GTAIII gurus, please help
first, thanks to those who helped me get my copy running. You know who you are.
now, on to my problems: I am stuck on several missions that I cant pass, even with cheat codes. the Grand Theft Auto mission from Kenji has me stumped. I cant get all three cars in time. any tips? the mission from Asuka called Payday for Ray also has me running out of time before I can get to the last payphone. tips? the mission from the Yardie boss (that you get from the payphone) I can get the Yakuza Stinger ok, but can never find the Diablo Infernus. Also, whenever I go over to Portland to get a Mafia Sentinel from Sal's house, it blows up before I get halfway back. what gives? thanks to anyone who can help. been stuck on these missions too long.

http://www.robsonherlock.clara.net/ps2/gta3walk.htm i beat 'em all, but i dont remember how though. i moved on to vice city. i remember the mission about gettin the gang cars. 1) there's a mafia sentinel parked near the other place (the place on the street from the car dealership, u did missions for the guy, then u killed him). and take the long way out. go in thru the tunnels and come out near the car delalership. avoid the chinese people and the mafia. avoid mafia at all costs. they WILL shoot u w/ a powerful weap and kill u.

I always have to recommend playing the GTA games without cheats because it makes them MUCH funner and a better overall experience. As for those two missions, I know which ones you're talking about, and the only way I beat them was memorizing exactly where the next checkpoint was. I take it that you're playing the PC version, and I'm not sure if you're using a controller (I've heard that using a keyboard to control the vehicles makes it much harder). Like I said, you MUST memorize where every payphone is in the Ray mission, and where every car is in the Grand Theft Auto mission.
As for the mission requiring the Sentinel, there is always one parked at Salvatore's house; I can't remember if that's close enough for a time limit or not. Do NOT drive anywhere near the area south of there; the gang members have shotguns which will blow up nearly any car in the game with only ONE shot. I wondered what the hell happened the first time I drove through there with a Sentinel; it's those damn shotguns. Good luck! The key to beating missions in GTA3 and Vice City is memorization and practice. I played the final race in Vice City until I could beat the longest track without crashing into a single car or pedestrian, while still taking first place and getting the large quantity of money. Like the overrused cliche saying goes, "Practice Makes Perfect." -Lasereth

ok, so I passed the mission to boost the gangcars, turns out a Diablo Stallion (not Infernus) is the third car. Although I could swear King Kortney says Infernus on the phone. And thanks for the tip, Lasereth, about the Mafia. I stayed off the roads and drove around the grass to get out of St. Marks area. worked like a charm.
still working on the other two.

Payday for Ray:
Make sure you start off with a damn fast car. When you have to answer the phone in university park(?), just drive straight up on the road leading to the closed bridge, and get off it with a right turn across the downhill lawn. Drive into the university. Park next to the phones. If nothing else works; practice. Learn the locations of the phones and try to find your own way, without any stress. Good luck.

update: I finally reached the end.
now, I dont seem to have as much interest in the game. sure, there are missions that I havent completed yet (about 20 of them) but I dont feel very motivated to do them. the only thing that interests me about it now is learning to fly the dodo for more than 30 seconds.
