For the Landsmeet choice, Spoiler: after MANY reloads, I finally settled on marrying Alistar and Anora (which at the end turned out to be a very good choice) and, since I was playing a female human noble, had Alistair sleep with Morrigan for Morrigan to conceive Alistar's baby. That took some convincing on my part (thank you, maxed out Persuasion) since as you may have guessed, Alistair wasn't too hot on the idea.

Yes, as far as "present" endings go, that's about the best you can hope for. It does leave that nagging possibility of...well...you know.

And, along those lines, I expect that the expansions/sequels will, almost without a doubt use the scenario you described above as its basis.

Is there any benefit/side plot to using Shale in the Dwarven mission? My party can only accomodate one warrior, and I took the dwarf, so I just wanna know.

thanks.

the banter is a little different.

for example if you have shale in your party, and you finish the battle of redcliffe, the part where isolde runs up and starts trying to convince teagan to come back to the castle with her, when you interject and she goes "whoooo is thiiiis man/woman addressing me teagan?" and he says "they're the reason I am alive, etc..." he'll pipe in and say "we also squish the heads of people we don't like, just so you know" lol

oh, I also have a personal blogging site, I did a write up on the upcoming expansion if you feel like checking it out.

You get to find out a bit more of her backstory. And depending on who you side with concerning a certain anvil, she will fight your ass.

I'm about halfway through with my male elf mage, and holy crap is this game good. Seriously, BioWare had me at The Harrowing. Can these guys even make a bad game?

It's definitely difficult, at least on the PC (well, Mac, to be accurate). I hear it is easier on an xbox or ps3. I've died plenty. But do you remember BioWare's Baldur's Gate or BG2? Now THOSE were some tough RPGs - really, really tough.

Just so you know, this game is pretty damn hard, even on Easy.

From what I've read, only a few people at Bioware finished the game on the highest difficulty setting without turning down the difficulty for any battle.

I beat it on hard, I don't know if I can do nightmare. Emmisaries are so brutal, they can break your entire party with a proper spell or 2 if you don't shut them down in time. :\

Curse of Mortality can go fuck itself. I didn't have anything to deal with it on my playthrough.

Amen. It's like each melee enemy increases the difficulty of the battle linearly, while each spellcasting enemy increases the difficulty of the battle exponentially.

Typical for Bioware, really. Anyone battle the lich in BG2? That's probably the most difficulty battle I ever had. Time Stop rapes more than Curse of Mortality ever will. CoM basically blocks healing, so if you're overly reliant on Wynne or potions, you're screwed. Just tough it out and bring on the beatdown.

What's your best party? I'm an arcane warrior (who actually permanently runs in Arcane mode - none of my friends do), and I do best with Wynne, Leiliana and Alistair. Alistair's only purpose is to threaten and soak up damage (and oftentimes die). The dwarf and Shale are good replacements as well, but Alistair just works better.

Well, for me, after a while, I just wanted to play through a little bit more efficiently. Call me lazy, but pausing every 10sec in *every* battle lest I get slapped around stopped appealing to me at the Mage Tower. On easy I play through real-time (or very rarely pause) and enjoy maneuvering my guys that way.

I feel for you though, I thought the same thing, "I don't suck this much!!!"

I only had one party unless otherwise forced to switch at a couple of points in the game. I played a human noble rogue with amazing ass kicking capabilities followed by Morrigan as my offensive mage who also doubled as a healer. The other two were Alistair and my dog as main damage dealers.

Once I've learned the proper combination of spells and techniques, I was pretty much cruisin' for the most part. The main focus were the emissaries. I took care of them myself. Dirty Fighting, followed by Momentum took care of most of them before they could regain consciousness. Especially near the end with my bitchin' gear.

I just started playing (over the weekend) after I got my new computer. There is nothing like turncoats. I'm playing a human fighter (fighters tend to be easier to play in this type of game), and am really it. I've died a few times, but I don't think excessively. The Darkspawn mages are difficult, but (so far) nothing that's required me to tweak the difficulty from normal.

There was a part with 2 emissaries, a drake and hordes of melee darkspawn coming at me in waves, with archers behind barricades towards the end, at the entrance to fort whatchamacallit. I had to reload that spot like 15 times. lol

Archers were a pain in my assholes. Since my rogue was the fastest of my party, I usually took care of them myself along with the mages and emissaries. Once I finally got Morrigan's wide area magic, it was a lot easier to deal with the fuckers. Especially in the interior fights where you could cast it before they could see you.

archers made my mage cry a bit :\ Given the CG movie of leliana shooting that emissary dead in his tracks, I think that's intentional for some reason.

Which is ironic because the archer in this game is the weakest character you can make ability and damage wise.

yeah but tactically speaking, they have the advantage. No travel time to engage in battle for the most part. I'll probably play through as an archery rogue after I'm done with my mage playthru for experimental purposes.

If you combine Spell Might with Blizzard and Tempest, you get pretty much the most powerful spell in the game called Storm of the Century.

More combinations and a shitton of other info here: Spell Combinations - The Dragon Age Wiki - Dragon Age, characters, creatures, and more

Two things I'm liking so far:
1. There is a Kill! Dialogue option for almost everyone you meet
2. Morrigan's rack is so hot I don't want to change her original robe for a better stat'd one

Is it possible to retrain skills and spells?

What do you mean by retain? Once you unlock them, you cannot lock them again. Also, Morrigan's ultimate robe is just as revealing.

No, you can't do that. The skills you choose here are permanent.

There might be ways around it, but I think they require a glitch or somesuch.
