Ill have to say Global Ops, Both IGN and Gamespot state that if CS hadn't come out first, this would be peoples CS. if you started playing CS first, you prob won't like it, apparently its to hard for the CS'ers. Graphically its not the best but as far as team play goes its the shiznit. If you haven't played it, you can pick it up for about 15 bucks now and still plenty of games going on gamespy all day long.

O and one more for anything made by Blizzard, but thats kind of obvious

The Wheel of Time is, hands down, the greatest FPS multi-player game ever. It came out at the same time UT did. However, it was way ahead of it's time. The combat system is so complex it takes months to master. Instead of just shooting an opponent with a gun, you use magic based weapons. Every weapon in the game with the exception of Balefire (one shot, one kill) has a counter. So, you can imagine some amazing, lengthy firefights with skilled players.

The CTF mode called Citadel allows you to set up your base with traps and other nasty surprises to slow the opposing team down. It also lets you move the seals (flags) to anywhere you want.

It's a game that you really just can't describe. It has to be played. It never did well in sales, though. I think the learning curve was too steep for the average gamer.

With the right people, Neverwinter Nights is great multiplayer. Back in the day it was all about the Marathon or Duke Nukem.

My favorite online game of all time is Tribes, more specifically, the Renegades mod. Playing that was the most fun I've ever had playing online, and I would still play today if anyone else played.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Day of Defeat are my current online favs. I must have a WW2 fetish at the moment. I'll be playing Natural Selection on the 31st when 2.0 comes out though.

Best game for multiplayer I think, if only for the hotseat game. My friends and I have blown away hundreds of hours with that game, and I think at one point I had a gig of saved games (we never managed to finish one, but we sure liked starting them)
