The sims 3
Got a copy, installed it,
I made a copy of my roommate, (he made it) but then wouldn't let him play, made him watch me play... ran him around town acting completely homeless for like an hour, knocking on random peoples doors, purposely avoiding using the bathroom or the shower, and food. after inviting myself in to a few houses, smashing some dudes model home, and pooping in his toilet, he kicked me out. I then proceeded to some other families home, got invited in, pissed on their floor, and died of starvation in the bedroom, all 3 of them were like "ZOMG" then... the grim reaper came, finished me off, and started chatting up the family.... I could be wrong but I may have made my roomie a little uncomfortable. Last edited by Shauk; 06-04-2009 at 09:53 AM.. |

basically it's left the confines of the dollhouse, it's become more of a town game. You can be a homeless bum if you so choose. So it's more of an RPG in that regards. Also yeah, they added life goals and traits and stuff to kind of give you a reason to do things and build a "supersim"
Like lets say you get to a certain level of lifetime satisfaction, you can upgrade your sim with like.. I dunno.. ninja quick cleaning abilities. So all that wasted time you had every day from cleaning up your stoves, sinks, showers, plates and cups that you could have spent upgrading your athletic ability or social network, you'll get to use towards those things in the future, since you'll basically instaclean things. there are all sorts of lil time saver upgrades like "steel bladder" so your sim basically won't have to pee, pretty much ever. lol, it's so stupid but that's the game ya know? |

I've heard on less friendly forums that the game is almost void of items and you're "forced" to buy the crap from the in game store for real money and end up paying like 20 bucks for 3-4 items. I couldn't get a clear answer on those forums so maybe you can help me out. I was pondering buying the game but I've been lead to believe that there's so few items that it's just not enjoyable without the extra content that you need to pay a premium price to get.
Hopefully, I can get a straighter answer on this forum. If there wasn't an in game store charging real money for a few items, would you feel that there's enough stuff in the game? Is it comparable to the number of non-expansion sims 2 item sets or is it alot less?

I don't know, I didn't play it enough, or with the intent to build a house full of "stuff"
I play a very non materialistic raving lunatic if i'm going to play a game based on silly little virtual societies that don't really exist. It didn't seem that empty but yeah, I heard something about that too. |

EA saw how much CC was used on the sims 2 and decided to make some more money. The best option is to just not buy their stuff. All the store items are downloadable now anyway, just look around sims forums. So, you can get the stuff, you just have to do it illegally. Everyone was saying that they made the game much harder to hack and make CC, but I'm not sure. There's already a few hacks out and some new default skins available. I'm pretty sure free CC will continue, which makes me VERY happy. I've got the base game, but I didn't pay for it. I did pay $50 to upgrade my memory to play it though. There are still a fair amount of items, and the best part is that all the items are ridiculously customizable so it creates the illusion of much more content. I made the mistake of letting my fiancee play it on my computer... Now she wants me to buy her a copy for her computer too... she's addicted to it like crack! lol
So far it's fun... I'm not much of a sims guy in the first place but I do like that you have a lot more options to do with the sim... more job opportunities, more challenges... |

God I hate publishers who make games with micro-transactions for every fucking little thing. How greedy can they...oh, right, it's EA.
