Hopefully, I can get a straighter answer on this forum. If there wasn't an in game store charging real money for a few items, would you feel that there's enough stuff in the game? Is it comparable to the number of non-expansion sims 2 item sets or is it alot less?

They are charging outrageous prices; it costs nearly $20 for a set of 45 items. That's almost half the game itself. Stuff packs that were made came with MANY more items and cost that.
EA saw how much CC was used on the sims 2 and decided to make some more money. The best option is to just not buy their stuff. All the store items are downloadable now anyway, just look around sims forums. So, you can get the stuff, you just have to do it illegally.
Everyone was saying that they made the game much harder to hack and make CC, but I'm not sure. There's already a few hacks out and some new default skins available. I'm pretty sure free CC will continue, which makes me VERY happy.
I've got the base game, but I didn't pay for it. I did pay $50 to upgrade my memory to play it though. There are still a fair amount of items, and the best part is that all the items are ridiculously customizable so it creates the illusion of much more content.
