All my buddies from Asheron's Call are playing SWG now on Lowcal or something. Doing well as they always do with these games, they keep god damn talking about it around me and now I want to play.

I bought SWG the day after release and I am having a ball with it.
My opinions on the game: 1. Buggy? yes but they are patching it almost EVERY DAY, they have squashed most major bugs and are working on the rest. 2. No fun? Well... the game is what you make of it. If you sit in one spot sulking because you dont see anyone then that is your own fault. I have met some of the coolest people WAY out in the middle of no where just running around. 3. No story? Well again, the story is what you make of it. It IS a role playing game hence the rpg in mmorpg, so if you get into your character and feel like he is his own being on his own quests then there, in fact, is a story. Also tell me that DAoC has more of a story than SWG, remember that SW itself is about good vs. evil/ rebels vs. Empire. They are making efforts of having player created storylines with special monthly goals and all that... you have to check out the site for more specifics. Just remember... there will be transportation vehicles within a few months and that will make the game even more fun, and not to mention in approx. a years time there will be the space expansion. I myself will be crusing around the galaxy in an X-wing

see im not the type that plays "rpgs" online.. to me you cant have a true rpg or MMORPG.. most peps dont rpg.. they just attain high lvls and snub others or help all they find.. the whole point of a rpg is roleplaying.. it is just hack and slash..
games like delta force are fun but then again just hack and slash.. a non linier game would be nice.. although again EQ and such could be this but.. its never ending.. the same quests are usable over and over till you move up to something more challenging

weee, finally got my new computer and got too involved in SWG to come back lol... then my power cord blew...
anyway, my report is... Buggy yes, but that doesnt take away from the game, cause they are constantly fixing bugs. Laggy... HELL YES, even on broadband (10mbs) and with my UBER system (PM me if you want to know ) it lags still if shit gets busy... other than that, FUN, cant wait for stories to kick in (allready had a couple but since my laptop cord blew i couldnt take part... sigh) and mounts/cars/space things will rock the house!!! hope you all play! DO IT NOW! |

Bought this game when it came out, it seems like they did NOTHING with the high end game, you can kill the same stuff all the way up your lvls, and one high end class is completely NOT WORKING. They need to add more high end content bad, there really is nothing to do unless you are a bounty hunter then you can kill anything. This post is all over the place but i'm very disapointed with this game, I heard that George Lucas made SOE release it even though they said it wasn't ready. And with the daily patches have the stuff they dont even tell you they are doing, it's all crappy.

Time will tell
I Guess in a few months (or years) SWG will be a great experience but right it can not stand up the hype.
I play EQ since 3 Years and i love the static content that is there, i cant start to play SWG until they patch in some static dungeons ... i dont like the idea to run through some place and everytime bandid camps are somewhere else, it does not feel right to me

I recently bought SWG. I personally havn't noticed any MAJOR bugs. Any game, even more so any game that is as large and imersive as an mmorpg will have bugs. Deal with it. As for Blizzard, well maybe but as I recall Warcraft 3 had (and still has) bugs. But I will probably switch to that when it comes out, if only because I am a die hard warcraft fan. Been one since I played the shareware of the first one. Any SWG players out there PM me.

Anyone play Star Wars: Galaxies?
I just got SWG a couple weeks ago, and for a while, I thought it was great. I was wondering what some other people's opinions on it were. I'd prefer opinions from people who actually play the game, please.
Lately, it seems like all I do is feed my harvesters power & money... craft stuff (I'm an architect)... and do missions to get money --- which then goes to feeding my harvesters... is an endless and boring cycle So anyway, I'm thinking I might switch professions, because being an architect isn't very fun. Are the combat classes cool? One of my friends is working towards commando. It looks interesting. Would a Mon Cal even be able to be a good fighter? |

You could make a really good Combat Medic, They get good AOE dots and can heal so they are good in groups, then while you do that you can work on getting something like pistoleer or carbineer, Pretty much any race can be decent at any profession. Medic stuff goes off of mind, thats why Mon Calamari would make really good Doctor/Combat Medics.

I strongly advise against anyone playing a game developed under SOE. I've detailed why, in the Planetside thread.
