The EA Madden Series
i just recently bought an xbox (i know i know) and i just found madden 2003 at blockbuster BRAND NEW for only 19.99!!
i know its really old and 2004 is coming out in august, but man... i cant say enough about this game. way back when i had a dreamcast my favorite sports games were the sega 2k series. nfl 2k3 was even the first game i bought for my xbox when i bought it last week, and this madden game just blows it out of the water. i know most of you are avid gamers and if your football, you know this game inside and out. for the rest of this thread id like to know whats 'your team' and post any other note worthy madden accomplishments. ill start: - i play with the jaguars (note i said i play...i dont win...i play) - the only big accomplishment i have so far is getting all gold trophies in the training camp mode... * coughrookiemodecough*

Madden 2003 was the first game I bought for my GC. I think I played it exclusively for about 2 months before I even started to get tired of it.
I usually use the rams, although I have experimented with creating my own team a few times. I went a whole season undefeated and then decided to delete it and start over for some reason I can't explain. It happens. It's a great game though, classic football, almost as good as Madden 95 for my sega genisis |

Madden is great, but I play the NCAA games, more teams and features and stuff... Madden '94 was and is still the shit though....

I got it for PS2 when it came out and played LOTS of minicamp mode. I really like that they put that in and I hope it will be back this year, even though on the MaddenMania forums it seemed to be pretty unpopular.
The music is a nice change from the hip-hop that they had used for the last few years, I actually hit WinMX and downloaded all the songs and made a CD of them, I listen to it at work sometimes. So many things made that game great. I really liked NCAA 2003 too, in some ways I think it's even better than Madden. Rent it and see if you agree. I don't know if you're a fan of the college game, but you should try it out. I've already reserved my copy of 2004... GO BILLS! -Mikey |

I have Madden 2003 for the GC. I really like it too! I always thought EA sports games were the best in the genre. I seem to remember that EA Sports Football was competing with Madden back in the Sega Genesis days but I could be wrong.
One criticism I have is the Defensive play. It is near impossible. I usually content myself with trying to call teh right play and letting the computer run it. Also the announcers get annoying at times. I suppose I could shut them off. They just need to be moreintellignet of what they are saying, sometimes it is just silly. and maybe throw a few hundred more phrases in there. How often do we need to hear "He was waiting for the play to develop and he got developed" hahahahaha , stfu. Anyway, overall it is a fantastic football simulation and blows away the current competiton in my opinon. |

I think maybe that's one of the reasons I liked NCAA a bit better... with the three-man team you get better quotes. Especially from Corso. He's crazy in that game. -Mikey |

I've had madden 2002 for the PC for a long time, but never play it - it's frustratingly difficult to get the hang of. But all this talk has me thinking I should give it another chance...is it nearly as good as all the hype for 2003?

i have madden 01 (or maybe 02) but i use the Niners. This was after their bad seasons so they were pretty crappy, but after 3 seasons, i got them up to a 99 or 98 overall. I had 99 in conrnerbacks! My defense gave up no more than 50 rushing yards a game. I should have bumped up the difficulty, but oh well.

For the people who have Madden on their PC: how is it? I've only played Madden on consoles (i.e., Sega Genesis and Sony Playstation), but I don't think I'm ever going to buy another console again (the only reason would be to play sports games). I've often wondered about playing Madden on my PC, but I've never tried it. I don't even have a controller/joystick for my PC. I'd love to keep playing the Madden series, but I don't want to have to go buy an Xbox or PS2 to do so (and I don't want to use my PS anymore).

I only ask because in our current situation, well, it could prove to be useful information, MAYBE! |

Yeah Madden '03 is very good, I have had the PC and Xbox versions - Xbox was easier to sit down and play but I thought the PC version was a more realistic game. I prefer Sega's series though. |

Over the summer, my friends and I have been playing tournaments complete with fantasy drafts and shit to pass the time. In case anyone hasn't tried this, you should. It's really fun and it just adds to the badass replay value the Madden franchise has. I can't wait for NCAA or Madden to come out for 2004, EA makes the best football games by far.
