Star Wars Galaxies who? where? how?
What is everyone going to be (species) in Star Wars Galaxies? Where are you going to go (what planet)? What profession?
I am leaning to going to Rori though Corliena and Dathomir look tempting. Being a creature trainer. Wookie or Twi'Lek. =) |

If they allowed it (haven't seen if you can or not yet) I'll just be a Hutt and make money while being fat and doing nothing.

I am probably alone in this theory, but I think a company has a right to charge when they will be running the servers on something this grand of a scale. They will have to have a full staff working on this all of the time after release - how else are they going to keep paying for it?

How many MMORPG are there that AREN'T pay for month? I mean everytime I read of one that is (and most of them are) there is SOMEONE who complains... Do you not pay for your monthly internet service? Your tv if you got cable or satelite. Your phone and what not? They are still providing a service. Bandwith (even more so they type needed to keep thousands of people playing a game at once) is not cheap. I have no problem paying a monthly fee as long as the servers are not slow as hell and they update regularly.

I understand the idea of paying to play, the servers are extremely expensive especially with a game such as this which will be broadcasting data like crazy but I don't like the idea of paying for a game that I've already bought. That's why I probably won't buy this one, though I would really like too. I mean, the graphics and the idea are phenominal and for a fan of Star Wars it is heaven but I don't think I could dedicate money in such a way, and because I tend to purchase quite a few games having to pay for a game I've already bought will take a toll on my gaming budget.
If this game supported single player missions and/or servers like those we use in FPS games I would buy it in an instant, I'd be a fool not too, however this would remove the astoundingly large scale at which this game gathers it's name "Galaxies". I want beta!!!
I'll probably not buy into it, though I'm itching to play. As a friend of mine said, unless it's total VR immersion, it's not worth pay-to-play.

The sooner they put it out, the more I'll be able to play it. No job = 12 hours/day of SW:G. Once I get a job, though, I wouldn't even bother playing it anymore. Even 2 hours a day would mean either 2 hours less sleep or 2 hours less interaction with my friends, and neither of those are worth giving up, even for star wars.

November?????!?!? just release it with the bugs, they always do that anyways!!! oh well. i heard that if you become a jedi, you have to play the character in a "hardcore" mode, meaning if you die, your char is wiped.... just a rumor i heard. i want to be a crafter of some sort, probably human.

The whole monthly payment thing instantly turned me off to the game, despite the awesomely cool potential. I REALLY wish this game were developed along the lines of Morrowind, just set in the SW universe.
Aside from that, the addiction factor of a MMRPG like this would probably ruin my life.....sooo I'm gonna wait it out, and if reviews and such make it out to be truly great, than maybe I'll put out some cash for this one. |

NDA be damned
It sucks. I logged in enough to get a feel for it and then uninstalled it and threw out the beta CDs. Sure, amazing graphics and animations, but the gameplay was horrible. I've tested a lot of games, and usually the "Test to fix" mindset over-rides a poorly done game (Anarchy Online instantly comes to mind), but SW:G couldn't keep my attention to even do that. Kinda sad. That said, I'm going to skip SW:G and write it off like I did Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, and Anarchy Online. I'll just stick to EQ, pick up PlanetSide, and pass the time till World of WarCraft comes out and probably ends up redefining the MMORPG genre.

Well, assuming I can't be the Mighty Sarlak of Tatooine, one of those squirrelish black-box droids from the ep. 4 death star, that ice monster on Hoth, a behemoth spaceship-swallowing meteoriod worm, a herder of nerfs, or Yoda I'll probably go Calamari.

If you scroll up towards the top, Mr.Deflok provided his thoughts on it, and acknowledged he knew the reasoning behind it. Too bad MMO games aren't distributed computing. I don't even want to hurt my brain by thinking of the programming obstacles there would be, not to mention the added ease of hacking. Just think it would rock if communities could run something like this and use servers as a backup. |

I just got my beta invite but my computer cant run it and I dont have dsl to download crap loads of patches so I cant play it. I should have a good enough computer by the time its released, as much as I'd like to play I think I'll enjoy it more when its retail.
