This game BLOWS

do not get it, boycott it, it's terrible

slow unresponsive controls, attacks are repetitive and boring, no special attacks like in the first 2, the character load time is ridiculously long as well

all around not a great game, the only small good thing about this is the soundtrack, if u like rap music

I haven't played it yet, but it seems like every review I've seen on it gives it a thumbs down or a mediocre rating. My main issue with the game is what all the reviews say was taken out of the game i.e blazing moves, weapons, customizing your fighting style and the custom chars from the last games.

I hadn't heard anything about long load times or unresponsive controls. Though the PS3 supposedly plays slower than it's 360 counterpart, which version do you own?

For what it's worth IGN gave it a 7.0 and 6.9 on 360 and PS3 respectively with the following summary.

While this is a weak showing, Def Jam: Icon definitely shows where the series is headed. The incredibly rendered artists and destructible environments, an uncensored soundtrack and DJ controls are a huge bonus for the musically infused franchise. Plus, the inclusion of My Soundtrack features and a slightly faster fight system gives the game a little better experience on the 360. On the other hand, weak fighting moves, a lackluster story mode and inconsistent game mechanics complicate what would otherwise be the evolution of the franchise.

i played it for a little while on my friends ps3

it took like 30 seconds to load up the characters to look at, and u can't start untill the character is loaded in the selection screen.

my friend was livid, he went and got the game, played it, thought "god damnit what a waste of money" went back to EB games and asked if he could sell it back (i told he he should ask to return it for store credit (sighting a scratch or read error) they said they would give him 27 bucks for the game he bought not hours earlier for 60, knowing that they were gonna sell it for at least full price, and turn a massive profit on the charade, he's stuck with it for now. he might try and sell it on ebay

That sounds like bad development on EA Chicago's part. Though I'm not surprised, I'm one of the EA detracors that believes the company is now more concerned with their bottom line than quality products.

As for Gamestop from a business prospective the company is amazing. They make money hand over fist. The get money from new games and used, and they sell/rent their wall space to Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. Ever wonder why the Nintendo section is so small? It's because they paid for less space than Sony and M$.

However, from a customer's point of view... their policies annoy me. The price at which they buy back "used" video games and their quota system are my two major complaints.

Also, that $27 buy back for a $60 game is exactly why I wish Rhino Video Games hadn't sold out to GameStop. Rhino had a wonderful return policy that let you return opened games as long as it was within 5 days, I think it was 5, of your purchase as long as you gave the reason and had your receipt. They gave full store credit and allowed, "This game is crap" or "I've beat it already" as reasons for returns. Rhino also gave you more in store credit for trade-in. I've seen countless times when GS would run a trade 3 get an extra $10 in credit deals and Rhino would still offer at least a dollar or two more in trade-in.

yeah Eb games is giving the return 2 ps3 games and u get one free, but heres teh thing, he only has 2 ps3 games and he likes FOM:resistance

soo he's not gonna do that. He's thinking of a scam like send someone in and say it was scratched, ask for store credit and get oblivion in a couple months

edit: or NBA stree homecourt now

:::SHOCK::: A crappy Def Jam game? No way! I did not have to play this game to know it was going to be bad. That being said it sucks that your friend wasted his money.

BTW...I think if he tries to bring back the scratched game they will just give him another copy of the same game...unless they are out of stock.
