Bricked 360s

There's a fair amount of trouble brewin', about how the latest update has reduced many an xbox to expensive paperweight status. Mine joined the ranks today

Started off by freezing in Oblivion, which while I had trouble with originally there was an update some months back that fixed it. A hard freeze, not an unreadable disk error, and required a manual restart. I got Rainbow 6 and started playing more, it froze up after a minute or so the first few times I played it then it was fine for a good while. Froze intermittently over the next few days, both in-game and in the dashboard.

Turned it on today, got to the menu screen in R6 and it froze. I reset, it froze on the 360 logo. Reset again, I get the Ring of Death (3 lit.) Reboots, cable juggles and trying no HDD hasn't fixed it, so I'm gonna have to *shudder* contact xbox support. Ugh.

Anyone else bitten by this?

Mm. Going from the 70-page thread on the xbox.com forums, they will deny it's got anything to do with the update at first, then try charge me for repair, then promise to send me a package to return it in but not get back to me.

A friend of mine had a 360 that tanked. He got a return box, sent it off, got a replacement. He said he had no problems.

Well, that call I just placed went a lot better than my last one. Resolved in ten minutes, still under warranty so everything is covered. Last one took an hour and three calls back to tell me to recover my tag after my box was stolen. Still, gotta wait about two weeks
