that is one fat carp. Around here, creeks & tributaries flowing into the Delaware River, about all of the ones that large or larger have wallowed in the mud and sucked mud so long, they DO NOT taste good. I bet the roe would be OK, though.
crawdads are becoming available up here in the N.E. U.S.A. but so far they do not compare with the quality of fresh stuff I eat when down in the New Orleans to Houston strip. Last edited by BadNick; 11-11-2007 at 11:11 AM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat: 10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

I don't decide what I eat or don't eat based on ancient rules that have no application to my current reality. But I don't hold it against anyone who chooses to believe otherwise. And I love pork, too.
Hey, I never did hard research to prove/disprove this, but a few years ago I heard this explanation of how there is a kosher pig. Apparently, the cloven hoof thing is what defines the edibility or not for those who abide by these rules, and there is a pig in the Borneo/S. Pacific area around there that does not have a cloven hoof; so if an appropriate rabbi would slaughter this pig in an appropriate manner, it would be a kosher pig. Yes? No? |

Hotlinking requires expertise.
I also would love some right fine pork at this hour. Chinese or Thai would hit the spot in so many ways.

There was a man who entered a local newspaper's pun contest.
He sent in ten different puns, in the hope that at least one of the puns would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.
