no wonder ive been feeling a little 'dumb' lately...
http://www.entertainment.news.com.au...000140,00.html IT is official: watching Big Brother is bad for you. Psychologists testing viewers who tuned in to the British show for just six hours found alarming side effects in their mental health, including increased levels of anxiety, depression and hostility. Yet when the same guinea pigs were asked to watch daytime TV as an experimental control, they reported virtually no ill effects. Glasgow Caledonian University researchers specialising in television-related research, were commissioned to carry out the study by London's Mail on Sunday newspaper. Advertisement: The subjects watched Big Brother for two hours a day for three days.

Yeah, I heard about this picture...haven't seen it until now. That truly is scary. The woman is seriously NOT good looking.
I'm thinking Timmy to win right now....

A question about the Aussie version...
I've only ever watched the american version and it is definately a boring load of bollocks.
The original premise, as I recall, was to put a bunch of captivating personalities under one roof and let the fur fly. Minimal shenanigans and poor ratings have led to an increasing focus on group challenges and ever shifting eviction rules, rather than the player's personalities and interactions. Now every episode is just an hour of tedious "suspense" as the players sit around looking nervous and blather on about strategy. Is BB the same down yonder? Or does it focus more on the antics of the players? I wish the show was more of a fish bowl than a game show.

htra0497 - Just pop in to Spinstartshere and you'll find a shitload of people who think as you do. Yes, she truly is a vile looking creature.
I'm not noted for my discernment as far as females go, but even I wouldn't fuck her. I'd top that whinging slag with the big tits and arse, though!

LOL stick!
yeah id have to agree..christie isnt a goodsort at all..and ive always thought she looked like that creature from beauty and the beast! she's a horror that chick. too bad the good looking ones always go first. someone bring in a tranny into the house.. its getting lame. the way i see it, the first big brother had hardly any tasks to do, these days its like ure watching an orchestrated day organised by BB. what a load of bullocks p.s. fresnelly..ozzie BB is exactly the same.

I honestly thought it would be Melanie to go tonight. Kate was pretty happy to leave, but she made our Timmy cry in the loo!
I still want Timmy to win, BTW.

I'm hoping for the whole thing to be extended for six weeks or more and they have to leave Vesna in the house cause she wont fit through the door.
Fuck she has piled it on. I'd still like to ............... Mean bastard are'nt I?

I wouldn't piss on her. Fucking annoying trollop.
Imagine being handcuffed to her for a day, Greg's ears must've been bleeding by the end of it, poor bastard.

So The Logans (boring bastards) took the bucks (well, $836,000 less tax of 47% = $392920 = net winning of $443080 / 2 = $221540 each...not bad for 100 days of work).
I was pretty disappointed with the final result....I really wanted Timmy to win and reckon he deserved to. He had the experience more of a journey in terms of personal growth, development and achievement, and was a hell of a lot funnier than the Logans!

wow.
i for one never thought tim would get passed the early stages... and he's a mate (my brother was on his home video that they showed the last three housemates). but he sure did take off with popularity when some of the more abrasive housemates left. i didn't really think australia (or the big brother voting demographic therein) would take to his humour. totally bummed that the boring logan won though. shoulda been tim. however, i don't doubt tim will earn more than the prize money he lost, in book sales and opportunities garnered from his pseudo-celebrity status. here's a little bit of trivia for you... tim actually went through the entire selection process pretending to be someone else (or imagining he was someone else and saying what he thought that person would say), but when he was told he was selected, he reverted back into tim status. seriously funny guy.

spindles, you're right about game show contestants, but as far as i'm aware, the housemates are not considered game show contestants since they receive a weekly appearance fee. they also have to appear at big brother events after the show (or after they are evicted).
therefore, since they are kind of 'employed' by the big brother group (endemol i think), the final housemates winnings are taxed to the hilt. i remember there being some stink about the first series winner only receiving about half of the winnings after his tax was deducted (remember that the prize money used to be $250,000). and i also remember that smirky bastard eddie maguire promoting his show by announcing that the winners on millionaire aren't taxed like *some other shows*.

You're dead right, bundy. Since the housemates make more than one appearance (as they do on Millionaire) they are considered employees of Endemol. Bummer, hey!!

I don't mind ol BB, can get boring at times but let's face it, there isn't a hell of alot of other things on TV at times. I didn't like Vesna at first due to the constant whinging but after a while she grew on me and I wouldn't of minded her winning.. I didn't mind who won actually as long as it wasn't Tim.

I miss BB.... I thought I would hate the show but ended up warming to a couple of HMs. Definitely not Rita (ugh), definitely not Mel or Christie... I did like Tim and well, gotta admit it, Dean was nice to look at but I'm sure he had a Freudian obsession with sh*t.
