It's hockey day in Canada fuckers, time to sit back, have a few pops and celebrate our game. Ron McLean read a nice excerpt from Hockey Dreams to open the broadcast , and here it is:

they forgot the part about "...if they burn down my rink, I'll just quit..." In the history of NHL players, five teams began the season, but the “Montreal Wanderers” backed out in January of 1918 after their Montreal rink was burned down. from The History of Hockey |

I remember watching the Rochester Americans on TV back in the day. I went to a Jr. A game earlier this winter and it sucked, sure has changed in the 10 years since I've played the game.
The poor Montreal Wanderers, lost all but one of their four games to start the season, then they have to deal with their rink burning down, tough way to start a new league.

I love watching NCAA hockey, it's better than the NHL in some ways, the kids still play for the love of the game, whereas most NHL players play for the almighty dollar, so the NCAA guys usually play with more heart and spirit. Plus the atmosphere in their barns is just intense, with the bands playing and crowd going nuts, it reminds me of my old Junior days, minus the band.
Watched Hockey Day In Michigan last weekend, the Spartans and the Wolverines were both on TV back to back, both were excellent games.

1) V for Villanova V for victory...exciting game today by my alma mater.
2) NBA sucks most of the time...to be fair, I assume this to be fact just based on my few minutes of observation at various times and then deciding never to watch again. 3) You're so right about sex and beer. I shoulda known a Canadian would be so smart. |
