How Voluminous is your Vocabulary?

Found this on the net today and thought it was pretty cool. You will get a score that shows your level of vocabulary. Highest attainable score is 50 and according to the site, it will be very very difficult to get higher than 48. (That is, if you don't cheat) The more you play, the more rice gets donated, so you can feel satisfied knowing that while you increase your vocabulary, you are also sending rice to starving people via the U.N. (Don't want this turning political, just thought it was a novel website.)

Free Rice

Have fun and report your highest score if you want. Mine was 41.

43 so far, cheated once.
will look forward to playing again soon.
how does the rice thing work? I'm curious.

45 on the second try, no cheating.
Thanks for finding this, a fun time on a friday night, home alone.

I got 42 but I missed a couple I should have got right. I'm disappointed, so I'll try again. I've always been better with technical, science, etc. than words and writing.

The note on the page said that the ads on the page pay for the rice. Pretty cool.

It gave the number of rice grains donated so far, total is 8,551,031,610 ...I'll have to figure out how many pounds/kilos of rice that is since it doesn't sound like a lot.

On the political side ....check out how all the countries are doing with this program ...why am I not surprised that the U.S. does not seem to be doing well at all. The next page allows you to write a letter to support the program.

PS: I'll add this here instead of a new post to minimize my OT'ness:
According to http://www.riceassociation.org.uk/factsandfigures.htm there are over 29,000 grains of rice in a pound of long grain rice. So that would make the total above approx 140+ tons. Nice start, but that can't be enough.

Yes, the government hasn't met this goal, but Americans have the option to give directly instead of through the government. Not making excuses, but just keep in mind that Americans, in general, are generous and do donate their time and money to helping others without the "help" of the government. I'd rather see food and supplies go to these countries than just money. A number of these countries have governments that do not have their citizenry in their best interest.

50 without cheating, though it took until my rice count was 5080 to get there. I collect unusual words, and my Greek and Latin are pretty good for someone who can neither speak nor read either with any facility.
