Defeating the Purpose
My wife is dieting, and while I both appreciate her desire to lose weight and be healthier and am trying in my own less rigorous way to match her, I despise diet food and diet cooking. However, mch of the food in the house is now low fat/no fat, flavor impaired, part polystyrene, trendy crap. With that in mind, I present the "Defeating the Purpose" sandwich:
Take two Rice Cakes, most any kind will do, though chocolate is best. Spread one thickly with Peanut butter. Slice a banana into 1/4 inch thick ovals and press into the peanut butter. Here's the kicker: spread the other one with jet puffed marshmellow fluff and/or Nutella. Slap together and enjoy.

I hesistate to make this post because I really don't want to be banned from this place. I do like it here. I'm afraid if I keep yacking on about these body for life concpets and the Bill Phillips army of fitness zombies that folks may decide I've worn out my welcome. But...that being said and throwing caution into the wind here goes.
I've found three cook books that really provide great nutritional information and healthy eating, low fat recipes. The first is my most recent purchase wich is titled "Eating for Life" written by the afore mentioned Bill Phillips. The second is titled "New Dieter's cook book" by Better Homes and Gardens. This one is particularly good because it provides a ton of choices and it provides the total nutritional information and a picture of the item in question. One other good one is Jane Brody's Good Food Gourmet. You have to read carefully each recipe you are considering but she gives good information about each examples nutritional content. Healthy eating can be good as well as good for you. Hope this helps

However, be it known that there is only one diet: Eat less and exercise more. Start pushing Atkins, and I will open up a can of figurative whoopass and post some recipies for it here. But if you want to start posting heathful and tasty recipies, go for it. And if you want to pop into one of my heartattack on a plat posts and scold or improve, I'm cool with it.
