oh man... I went to Victor's because my friend was boycotting Duffs for a spell... anyways.. those original Buffalo wings are freaks of nature, the drums were like as big as yer fist and the flats... like a 3 finger lid...

MacGnG 07-14-2003 04:05 PM

depends on what else im eating but spicy is nice

Dibbler 07-14-2003 04:20 PM

I moved from Houston to the midwest and that www.pappasseafood.com is just killing me. The midwests version of seafood is fish sticks and tartar sauce. Rat, you're just mean. I'm thinking of driving down there tonight. Buffalo wings are the best at Hooters when there's a nice view of the ladies and a large order of the Three Mile Islands sitting in front of me.

castex 07-29-2003 10:26 AM

Hot, hot, hot!
I'm going to sound really sad here, but I dream of Denny's buffalo wings. There isn't a Denny's on this continent, so I've been forced to go into Planet Hollywood in search of respite from the pain of wingless living. Theirs are crap, frankly - too crunchy, not hot enough, and well expensive.
I'll be trying out some of your recipes tomorrow, and hope to report back with good news. Thanks, wingers:)

bryan2766 07-29-2003 10:35 AM

i love HOT wings, especially the ones from hooters.

bobw 07-29-2003 08:40 PM

ever make your own ? very easy to do !!!

castex 08-01-2003 06:34 AM

Okay, I've tried Jadzia's Zingy Wings. Last night I had a go at James' World's Hottest Wings, courtesy of tfbrown69. Thanks to you both - absolutely yummy.

I'd say the marinade is the way forward if you've the patience. I only managed 7 hours or so (5 days??!), but even that makes a huge difference to the chook.

My only problem comes in the choice of vinegar. I used Tarragon vinegar for both recipes, and the results just lacked a little sourness. Malt vinegar is conspicuous in its absence around here, and the alternatives are all too sweet/ distractingly perfumed. Next move will either be a trip to Blighty for supplies, or I might try one of those industrial-looking vats of white spirit from Carrefour...

I returned from our vacation in West Virginia. Morgantown
was home to my first Bw3s.( Buffalo Wild wings). I swore they had the best wings I've ever eaten.:) Underline had.:( It had been 7 years since I've been there.

Give them credit the restaurant was still open but the fun and atmosphere were gone:( Tuesday was 30 cent wings and Wednesday was 30 cent legs. Still a value. But dammit the wings were small:mad: More like pigions or sparows. The flavor didn't seem to be there either.

So I will continue to search for the very best. Mine are close and some of the recipies given out by tfp members rocked too!:) :)

But after driving 1145 miles to get there the let down made me cry. Even my daughter said she was glad I paid the bill and not her.

I'll be moving there within 5 years maybe I need to wake up that old party town. I'll open my own place. Anyone want to kick in a few bucks and be a limited partner???:D :D

Jonsgirl 08-16-2003 02:01 AM

I like 'em HOT. With ranch dressing on the side. First place I fell in love with them is a chain called Anthony's Pizza. I look back now and realize that those weren't really good, but they'll always have a place in my heart.

snicka 08-18-2003 11:58 AM

TOMMY LIKE WINGY

snicka 08-18-2003 11:59 AM

seriously though:

very hot
very vinegarry
lots of chunky bleu cheese dressing on the side

JohnnyRock 08-18-2003 12:17 PM

I like em real hot...no blue cheese, no veggies...that would be like ruining Tequilla with salt and lime!!!

onetime2 08-18-2003 05:00 PM

I usually go for the hottest they have since most that claim to be hot or nuclear really are kind of tame. Then there are the places that take it as a challenge when you say you want them nuclear and they just dump a bunch of hot sauce on them.

I end up really paying for it later in the night though when I have to take my contacts out. It seems no matter how much I wash my hands there's still a little extra left to sting the shit out of my eyes.

em1014 08-19-2003 09:00 AM

hot hot hot!!!!

castex 08-20-2003 04:47 AM

More wings! I'm on a mission.

neddy65 08-21-2003 06:25 AM

I love my wings and eat them as often as possible and as hot as they can make them. As to sauces i would recomend original death or sudden death sauce for the hot lovers(they are both hot and add a great flavour to whatever you use them on)

scansinboy 09-14-2003 12:15 AM

Anyone else find that they've graduated up on the heat scale?
BW3 hot barbeque does absolutely nothing for me anymore.
I'm now on hot, working my way to Wild. After that, Blazin'! And then after that? Well at least it should be a while before I get there.

yabobo 09-14-2003 05:48 AM

Ahh football season is here!:D
What goes better than hot wings and friends
to share them with?:) Spend an afternoon at your favorite place and remember to tip your waitress. She has to clean up your mess! Drink plenty of beer too. :D

wraithhibn 09-14-2003 09:35 AM

I love me some wings. I like the flavor of BW3's sauces, esp. hot and hot bbq, but they dont have enough meet. Im not a fan of Hooters wings because of the breading. Making your own is definitely the best.

Fremen 09-14-2003 05:43 PM

I like to mix the hot wings with the mild ones.
Around here, we can only find wings at Pizza Hut.
I prefer a ranch dipping sauce to bleu cheese.

I've yet to eat home-made wings.
How much better are they than eating out?

meff 09-14-2003 06:34 PM

Mmmm wings.. can't get much better than those.. god they're good :)

bparker805 10-13-2003 10:40 AM

I hate to give out my secret nuclear recipe, but its for a good cause...

(dump into a blender)
a small can of chipotle peppers
fill can with white vinegear
2 small habanero peppers
spicey pickled garlic (if you can find it)
a dash of chyanne pepper
some cilantro
and some honey(be generous)
or brown sugar molasses

blend all of that stuff for a good minute and a half.
the longer you blend it, the hotter it will be.

bbq or bake the wings with a low heat. after the wings are cooked, turn up the heat some and add the sauce after the wings start to get crispy but not burnt...

sugggested items to have on hand:
some tums, water, and some tp for the next day(it'll be hot).

Redlemon 10-13-2003 12:23 PM

I dislike skin and bones, so I don't eat wings. I'll eat the sauce on chicken tenders, however.

omega2K4 10-15-2003 08:39 PM

I really enjoy hot foods, not normal hot, but burns all the way fucking down hot. I usually order 3 Mile Island Hot Wings from Hooter's (To Go), then pour my favorite hot sauce on them (Habanero Tabasco), and enjoy. I would recommend several cans/bottles/glasses of anything cold to drink, because that shit is HOT.

Bobaphat 10-17-2003 01:25 PM

I like them hot, but not so hot you can't taste 'em. They also have to be battered first, I hate the wings that have that fatty nasty skin on them. Disgusting. I have always been a huge fan or Hooter's wings (no really, I do actually go there for the wings) and I order them 3 mile island style with a side of blue cheese dressing

glasscutter43 10-19-2003 06:37 PM

If you enjoy hot, go to an asian grocery store and look for a ground chili paste called Sambal Oelek.

chef001_2003 10-19-2003 07:30 PM

glasscutter thank you i was just going to post that.

devnull 10-20-2003 10:36 AM

The only way to get your Buffalo Wings is so they burn ya twice. Once on the way in, and once on the way out. If you don't get the double burn, they weren't hot enough ;)

quadro2000 10-20-2003 11:44 AM

I lived in Buffalo for five years and although I did stop eating at Duff's for a while, I have since seen the error of my ways and know that it doesn't get any better than Duff's. If you get them past medium, you had better be prepared. All the waitresses wear shirts that say:

CAUTION: Medium is Hot
Medium Hot is VERY Hot
Hot is VERY VERY Hot

If you get them past medium, they don't come on a plate. They come in a bowl of soup.

I went to Duffs with some friends when I first got to college. The waitress went around the table to get people's orders. She got to one of the guys, who said:

"Tell the chef he's a pussy."

He was literally crying in his bowl of wings.

I get 'em real wimpy - mild medium - so I can taste the flavor of the sauce without burning my insides.

yabobo 02-20-2004 06:06 AM

Not trying just to bring about an old thread but hot wings/
chicken wings with ranch and blue cheese are a high
priority on Dr. Atkins diet. No carbs full of flavor but you need to
drink ice tee or diet sodas to conform. No BEER!
:D :D :D :icare:
Just think eating wings all that you can 7 days a week and still loose weight! Yea I know the intestinal discomfort might
scare you off a bit!

So eat the wings and save the boobies for tender strip lovers!:hmm:

CinnamonGirl 02-20-2004 07:18 AM

Arg...I seriously want to go to Frickers now...or BW-3's (hey, that's all we have in Ohio--and neither of them are here in the middle of the ocean.)

I get strips though (or "chunks" at Frickers), since I don't like messing with the bones. As hot as they come, with a big side of ranch dressing. mmmm...

heh...and I could totally get used to eating them every day :D

JohnnyRoyale 02-20-2004 09:11 AM

I've got a friend, and he likes 'em nuclear. So he calls the local wing shop & gets an order. Now, understand, my friend has been busting this place for about 2 months on how their wings werent' hot enough So he tries one, takes the rest back, saying they weren't hot enough. The guy behind the counter looks at him funny, looks at the wings, looks at him, says "give us a few minutes", and goes away.

When he gets back, he's got one of those white styrophome meal holders. Hands it to my firend, who opens it up, graps one of the wings, and takes a bite....then starts sweating. Tearing up...snot dripping from his nose. Finally, after about 2 glasses of milk and some bread, he gets one (and only one) down...and he asks the guy behind the counter "what the hell were those?"

and the guy behind the counter looks him head in the eye and says "those were are f---you wings"

My friend never complained about the hottness of his wings again after that.

Anyone have a good way of cooking these things at home without deep frying them?
I don't have a deep fryer but have a nasty hankering for some wings.
