Kung Fu Hustle

I watched this flick twice, back to back, just too funny! I think it has more/better CG than all three episodes of LOTR combined. There English subtitle is not too bad but I understand the dialogue in Chinese just fine.

Has anyone seen it? Check out its official site:

I've seen the trailer and it's looks awesome.
I've just watched Shaolin Soccer, which Stephen Chow did before Kung-Fu Hustle.
I highly recommend it, even if you don't like football (sorry, 'soccer')

Ever since I saw this thread, I knew I needed to see Kung Fu Hustle. And it was a strange, "I haven't heard anything about it until this, but I know this is gonna be great!" feeling. So I just got back from seeing it...

Greatest movie in years! I loved it! It had everything I would want, and delivered more. The actions scenes are great, and in some cases did perfect satire of recent action movies. The humor was spot on. I haven't laughed out loud in the theatre like that in a long time. I started breaking up at "Why aren't you talking in Chinese?"

I recommend this to EVERYONE!

It's not like Kung Pow, or Mafia, or any of that other stupid humor right? Cause if so I won't find it funny at all. Just stupid.

No no, it paces quite nicely. It's not like random joke scene after random joke scene. It's like the scenes and jokes blended so well, that you couldn't tell if the scene was written for the joke, or the joke for the scene. About the only time I could see someone not liking it, is if they didn't get that it was a satire. As I was walking out of the theatre, I heard a kid say "It was like Kung Fu and the Matrix"....he didn't get it...

Yeah. I'm really behind on my Kung-Fu flicks. Is there a lot of mockery of other Kung Fu flicks I'm going to miss as a result? lol.

I went to the NY premiere and Sunny Chow introduced the movie and The Beast was touted as "keep in mind he's really killed people before with his bare hands."

what a great flick! I loved it. I had not enjoyed a movie so thoroughly from visual to aural moment to moment. Incredible!

Yes, that movie rocked! And HD, you forgot already we chilled with Vinaur! Too bad Ranger couldn't tag along.

It is hysterical. Spoiler: Not really worth spoiling but if you love the old Bugs, Daffy, and Road Runner cartoons, and some kick ass kung fu, they fuse it excellently to make a funny as hell movie!

lol i'll break from everyone else and say that i thought it was actually retarded. entertaining, granted, but the plot was pretty flimsy. great fight sequences, decent special effects (it's not star wars/lord of the rings quality, but pretty damn cool, nonetheless) but again, the plot is just too cliche and filled with stupidities.

I will be seeing this on Saturday, and I can't wait. I have to see it with my little brother because my wife refuses. She watched the first 1/2 hour of Shaolin Soccer and left the room. Shaolin Soccer was one of the best movies I saw last year, but it's definitely not for everyone.

From what I've seen, you either get Stephen Chow, or you don't.

I just got back from a Saturday afternoon showing, and I was the only person in the theatre. It was like a private screening...it was awesome.

I shouldn't be surprised that I was the only one there. I live in Greenville, SC, smack dab in the heart of the bible belt, among the most closed minded people in the world, so it's no wonder that they wouldn't give a movie like this a chance.

Well, it's their loss, this was a great movie. It was funny as hell, and even though I wouldn't call the humor intelligent, the comedic timing was excellent. The action sequences were wicked and even though the CG was a little cheesy at times, I hardly noticed it because it was so enjoyable to watch. This movie literally has everything, moments of drama, comedy, over the top action, and some sweet romantic scenes.

It certainly won't win an oscar, unless they create a category for "Best time at the theatre". I highly recommend it to anyone, as long as you have an open mind.

I got my copy way before the DVD release, rented HongKong edition from online rental. Watched it about 4 times. What are your favorite scenes? I think the fight at the alley is the best. The two blindmen killing with their 箏 - Chinse harplike instrument.

so after i returned my netflix rental, i decided i better buy it while it's on sale (you know, that first week or two where DVDs are priced lower). Best Buy had it for $15.99 and the sticker indicates it's gonna go up to $22.99, so i bought it.

the fight you mention is great, definitely one of my favorite bits in the movie... another favorite bit is the chase between sing and the landlady (expecially the under/over the truck part). i also really like all of the lion's roar parts - the long drag on the cigarette on the deep breath in and the wave of destruction that comes out!

got Sin City to watch today, or i'd watch KFH again...

I loved this movie in the theaters and I loved it again when I rented it last night. I ripped it to my computer because it's definitely one of those movies I'll want to watch a thousand times. I plan to buy a copy to play on my tv in the next week or so. I mean, there are kung fu movies, and then there are kung fu movies. The reviews were all right on.
