Stargate SG1/Atlantis (Caution: Spoilers)
It seems we have fans of everything else on this forum, but do we have any stargate fans?
I love stargate to peices, theres just something about it's complete tongue-in-cheek humor combined with situations that could so very easily be going on *out there* that we dont' know about that makes it so compelling to watch. That mixed in with actors who just play their parts so well makes it so easy to see why it's so well aclaimed. What are everyone elses views on it? How far have you seen into SG1, have you seen any Atlantis, and what do you think of it if so? I've liked what they've done up to season 7, but they seem to be going the same way as star trek, getting better and better, but losing it in the last season. Although Jacks promotion to general has opened up some great new areas, and RDA plays the part so well, i do feel that the three man team, while generally unavoidable, has lost so much of what stargate is about, exploring the galaxy, finding new and interesting things, then blowing them up in a firefight with a baddy. Unfortunatly, reading the episode guides for the rest of the series, only a few look like they'll really show off how good the show is. As for season nine, i really really hope they don't screw it up... Last edited by stevie667; 12-05-2004 at 08:52 AM.. |

I've seen every episode of both series. I have loved SG1 for a very long time. Unfortunatally, I am about ready to stop watching. The writing has been bland for both series since episode 2 or 3 for each this season. This next set of new episodes will decide the fate of the sci-fi channels top rated show.

I was a fan of the movie - never was able to latch on to the TV show with enough interest to get it on my radar... I do know that they must film in a studio somewhere near Venice Beach because when I lived there a few years back it seemed I was always meeting new people who worked on that show as set designers, costumes, etc. in the neighborhood - emphasis on the HOOD part if you haven't been there.
Hey Will - nice to you around...

SG1- I think they have a great opportunity to use the new replicators. They really left it hanging after the opening of the season. I also think it's time for the Furlings (see Episode 'The Fifth Race') to enter the series. The storyline with government conspiracies was kidna done into the ground with the NID episodes.
Atlantis- Lets pick up the pace already!! The wraith are a very interesting and usable enemy. They are so strong that they almost wiped out the ancients, so why aren'tt they giving the Atlantis team more problems? I hope Atlantis doesnt become another Star Trek Voyager. "We're really far from home and we are dealing with big bad enemies on our own! We miss home!!" That was a real dissapointment IMO. |

I've watched all of SG1 and Atlantis. Although I think they are dealing with RDA's promotion to General as best as possible, I don't like the direction that it has led the show. Instead of the four of them finding things out off-world there is too much of it happening at the SGC.

A lot of the interest I had in the show was generated from the neat settings and story. That's beggining to lag, it is starting to lose it's pizzaz and become more like a mediocre sunday afternoon fantasy/sci-fi show. Not to mention the enemy, led by my second favorite star trek engineer, is rather lame. They're none too bright.

Thats actually a damned good idea, i loved jonas, he provided the show with such a great new light, and i loved the way Corin Nemic gave the character that 'excited about everything attitude', it really helped bring back the shows lighter side after daniels 'death'. |

i like jack. i think even though he is general he should still go on some missions with them...come on only 3 people venturing out every week...im still surprised they never had any of the original Stargate movie cast members make cameos on the show as different roles.

Visit www.gateworld.net or www.scifi.com (and look for the SG1 site), one of those must have the adress, i'd go with gateworld. Crossova, they had skaraa and kasuf, played by the same actors, several times on SG1, but i still think they should have Kurt Russel come back, would be amusing |

I am a huge fan of Stargate: SG1...
To be honest, I haven't been much keeping up with the newer episodes, nor the Atlantis spinoff, so I can't really comment about them. The few that I have seen have been a bit disappointing, I hate how they promoted Jack to General. Also, is anyone else struggling with the fact that Tilc has hair? I am really, really hoping that the show continues on with the same (or better) quality found in the first many seasons - hopefully this one is just a bump in the long, long road ahead.

Watched up to season 7 of SG1 and I love it. Can't say the same about Atlantis though. Episodes 1-10 were pretty good but 11-14 were pretty stale and boring. I heard 15 was good so im looking forward to seeing that EP.
Haven't seen any of the new season of SG1. Any new characters or enemies? |

After watching the new episodes of SG1 last night, i seems to me it's become a victim of it's own sucess. Now it is such a hugely rated show, the network has stepped in to really try and push it to as many markets as possible, and the writers are really starting to lose touch (such as jaffa using 'gate instead of cha'pa'ai [sp] when talking about the stargate) with what the show is all about. Hopefully atlantis, with the two big boy directors from SG1, will take up the slack and show us that the franchise still works. |

IS anyone excited about the new Stargate game that will feature voice acting from the cast? http://www.stargate-thealliance.com/main.php?lang=en On the Stargate: Atlantis front I have just watched episode 15 and it was much better than the past 4. Hopefully the rest of the season gets better and better. Just wish they would move the story along! |

OMG I can't wait to see Chriton on SG1!! I was really bummed about Faarscape being cancelled, and I really enjoyed The Peacekeeper Wars. Hopefully they will let his character shine in a major way. I'll be the first to call "spinoff" when he starts getting his own storylines.

Another update: Claudia Black (also of farscape fame) is back for more episodes during season nine, and Ben Browder will be joining SG1 (the team).
http://www.gateworld.net/news/2004/1...ackisbac.shtml http://www.gateworld.net/news/2004/1...ersisg-1.shtml Damn, i hope they pull this season off, because although they've got some great actors coming in, it's all too easy to just rely on them to get the viewers and go lax when it comes to actual storylines like this season... |

I watched the season finale of SG-1 last night. Those last two episodes were a pretty anti-climatic way to end the season. Especially after the way the previous episodes were going. They build up so much about which direction each of the SG-1 team memebers were going and then just forgot about it. Weird.

some good stuff...at least in atlantis. ford as a bad guy should be a very interesting twist. better than killing him off, but still changes plot lines. they still need to work on pacing, but over all a solid entry to the season.
was very dissapointed with SG1. i think this one's jumped the shark. the new team seems like it's going to lack the original chemistry...and there seems to be a lack of purpose.

I just started watching this due to my SO's addiction to it. I've seen season 1 of SG-1 and season 1 of Atlantis, as well as odd episodes of SG-1. I don't like the more recent episodes of SG-1 as they are severely lacking in Richard Dean Anderson and Don S. Davis, and I enjoy them immensely.
I haven't watched more of Atlantis (SG-1 is taking up our Netflix queue at the moment) but I'll be glad to see more of it when I can.

I've loved the show for qutie awhile now. Seen pretty much every episode. My sister is an even bigger fan and has all the dvds. I like atlantis as well, but the thing willravel said about voyager is so true. Hopefully it won't turn into that.
It does suck that jacks basically gone, but the actor couldnt keep up the times he was doing because of his kids. The new people cladia black and...forget his name are favorites of mine from Farscape. So that works out for me, but as far as keeping the original flavor of SG1 its not really working out. |

I have all 8 season on DVD and I absolutely love the show. I only wish Space Channel would stop showing reruns of Season 1-3 and start showing the latest stuff By the way: Gateworld actually has a transcript of all of the episode up to season 8 and some for season 9. I haven't seen either of Hero Pt1 and Pt2 and I'm afraid to considering... I haven't seen any of the new Atlantis, so no comment there Last edited by feelgood; 01-03-2006 at 12:18 PM.. |

Season nine is looking good so far, but i think that SG1 is moving away from its roots. We need the team to be put back in their place as younglings (remember the good ol' asgard eps in the first few seasons with the wonderful music?), or something not so doom and gloom to happen.
It has become comercialised to an extent, it has to of been to have stayed sucessful for this long, but i don't want the series to lose the ideas from where it came. Atlantis on the other hand rules. Reminds you of the startings of sg1, but with more cool stuff.

Depends on what kind of television service you have. If you have SciFi, then it'll be a new episode on Friday evening (6 pacific, 9 eastern, I believe). I'm not sure about Space Channel, but I'm sure some of your fellow Canadians will help you oot there.

Space shows new episodes of season 9 (I think we are season behind) on Thursdays at 10pm Toronto time (which would be 8pm Alberta time).
New episodes of Atlantis are only available on The Movie Network (in Eastern Canada) and Movie Central (in Western Canada) both are premium pay TV services. Atlantis season one is supposed to start on Space this month.
