The Official Battle of the Movies Thread
Well the movie poster thread dissapated, so let's move on to a pick the better of the two movies. Same rules apply, I'll post the posters and you vote on the film. Remember you are voting on the films themselves, not the posters anymore. Have fun.
Terminator vs Terminator 2: Judgement Day

T2 was much better. T1 was still very good, but in terms of action and effects T2 definatly takes the cake.
The story of machine vs machine (T2) was fun but man vs machine (T1) had more of an emotional feel for it because its not a programmed piece of metal, its an actual person fighting for the future against impossible odds and a big metal arnold. in conclusion, wheres T3?! it wasnt the best but was damn well good enough to be mentioned. |

My vote goes for T1.
The thing i loved about the terminator was the sense of whatever you do, the thing is going to kill you. The hopelessness, and then overcoming the worst odds is what kept me glued. T2 still had this, but T3 IMO just didn't click. |

Should have done a poll, then we could see the results...
They are both excellent, but T1 just beats T2 cos its the original. And T3, as a seperate action movie, it was good. But as a Terminator movie, it sucked!

That's a tough one... both have strong stories, great characters, etc. The budgets are way different though... comparing the special effects is not useful.
If I have to choose I'd choose T2 but only barely.

Well, shit, I can't seem to get a count here, I'll try again. unregistered, how exactly are you voting. Polls are still open, but will close soon. I Like reading comments on the films so, let's try to end our post in the following way, or something of this nature
My vote is for (Insert vote here) *Ahem, don't but the (Insert vote here) part, instead replace it with your vote. I vote for, or just vote are also fine.

My vote? The Terminator.
Arnold was pure machine - somehow Armold is able to portray that pure cold killing machine much better than Robert Patrik in T2 (not that RP did a bad job, because he did quite well). John wasn't bothering me - I really hated that whole buddy-buddy thing with the reprogramed Terminator. Linda Hamilton was gorgeous - not that crypt keeper-esque man beast that was in the second movie. I understand that her character was changed by the experience in the first movie, and her character's physical change was due to her being prepared for the future attack, but this somehow was too much for me. It took away the sensual part of the movie. That is a must for a guy's action flick. The story line was very original for a mainstream movie - a killer robot from the future...well you know. Somehow the introduction to that amazing reality was so mindblowing that it softened the blow of T2 for me. The writing was really good. It had this really intense feel to it, even during the boring times. I was a little kid when I first watched The Terminator - nothing will ever scare me or amaze me like this movie did. When I saw T2, I was already becoming cynical and bored with hollywood. That in itself made the movie less interesting. IMO. |

While I like them both, I'm going to have to go with Raiders, simply because I grew up loving that movie. It is everything a good action/adventure movie should be. Last Crusade was more of the same, but fealt like it was trying too hard to be bigger and better, sacrificing a little on the story end.

I realized that I've picked two films out of trilogies, however from my experience in film, the general consensus of the community is that T3 and Temple of Doom are the "least favorite" the others however flip-flop on everyone's list. I'm sorry if this offends you, but I can't please everyone

Raiders is the King! The only reason Last Crusade is winning is that most of those voting weren't alive when Raiders came out...
Raiders of the Lost Ark changed my life. I became interested in films and filmmaking because of that film... it is why I am in the industry today. Really.

Last Crusade, especially with the allusion to the first movie. Sean Connery and Harrison Ford have great chemistry in this movie. Not as good as Short Round and Indy, but that's not a choice.
