Official Thread for Amazing Race 6 - Spoilers WILL ensue!

Well Folks,
Right on the heels of AR5, comes the newest offer from one of our favourite reality shows. There is a two hour series opener tonight.
Lets meet here on an regular basis and discuss!
Daval

BonesCPA 11-16-2004 07:57 AM

I'm ready for the action. I hope there is annoying contestants to root against, heartwarming pairs you just have to root for, and a fair amount of eye candy.

inharmony 11-16-2004 08:02 AM

Watching tonight for the first time in awhile. Hope you're right bones...eye candy please :)

Averett 11-16-2004 08:10 AM

I'll be breaking my Amazing Race cherry tonight too :)

Wait - 2 hours? Glad I saw this! 8-10, or 9-11?

Daval 11-16-2004 08:53 AM

I believe its on from 8 - 10.

I want another midget!

My time zone (EST) has it from 9-11. I guess we could go to the ancient method of looking at the TV Guide.

Averett 11-16-2004 11:49 AM

I'll be sure to check the TV Guide channel when I get home :p

Fremen 11-16-2004 06:00 PM

Hey, Daval. According to my sat. tv menu and CBS, this is race #6. ;)
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race6/

I'm looking forward to watching this, but I'll have to catch the West coast feed, 'cause I want to watch "House" on FOX.

I wonder if Cyn and his wife will watch tonight's Amazing episode?
They're going to Iceland.

silent_jay 11-16-2004 06:50 PM

Well I'm a 45 minutes into this show and I really want the models too lose. From the time they said they had travelled extensively and knew the "nuances" of the airport. So funny to see them try and get information about their flight from the Air Canada desk, and the woman told them they "fly to Canada" that was great.

I can't believe the sisters went an hour and a half out of their way to find the waterfall, althought the guy that told them to turn around with hand signals was kinda sneeky, but hey it's a race and I would have done the same thing.

1slOwCD8 11-16-2004 07:14 PM

Yea, im listening in the background. I really hope that dude wearing the yellow gets eliminated. It looked like there was a chance when he was like 3rd to last, but i dont know where they are now. This is my 3rd or 4th straight season watching it, awesome show.

Averett 11-16-2004 07:46 PM

I have so much hate for that guy in the yellow. What an ass.

silent_jay 11-16-2004 07:47 PM

OMFG Gas in a diesel again. I t sayd diesel on the dashboard for christ sakes. Does this happen every show?

1slOwCD8 11-16-2004 07:51 PM

Diesoline, what the hell was that? Is that why they put gas in a diesel? I missed it.

Cynthetiq 11-16-2004 07:54 PM

from my journal entry....

Quote:

Wow! Tivo picked up the fact that Iceland was the beginning of the Amazing Race...

They have to find Seljalandfoss. It's a beautiful waterfall that you can walk behind.

<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/cynthetiq/1550127.jpg">
Seljalandfoss</div>

A pair of the cars drove too far and wound up at Skogar and next to Skogafoss. We both were laughing at the contestants asking people where the waterfall was. That's like asking a NYer where the Pizza shop is...

<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/cynthetiq/h0706.jpg">
Vatnajökull Glacier</div>

From there they had to go to Vatnajökull Glacier and they camped out there overnight. The following morning they had to drive to Glacier Ice Beach, which they mispronounced whatever the name is... it's the beach across the highway from Jökulsárlón. There they had a choice to either do an ice climb on one of the glacial tongues or search for a bouy in Jökulsárlón.

<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/cynthetiq/iceland_001_jokulsarlon_sunset.jpg">
Jökulsárlón</div>

Their final destination was Blue Lagoon, which most couldn't find because the signage all says, Bláa Lóniđ. One pair of contestants in their haste put gasoline into a diesel engine instead of reading the gas pump and the actual gas caps.

<div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/cynthetiq/Blue20Lagoon20-20Good20for20a20swim.jpg">
Bláa Lóniđ</div>

While I'm no fan of most reality TV... this is pretty funny because the letters in Iceland seem familiar, but at the same time... aren't.

It was nice to see some of the sights that Skogafoss and I love so much...

Loup 11-16-2004 07:59 PM

A couple of things: that blue haired guy (Jonathan) is an ass - I hate him already.
Iceland looks awesome and now it's on my list of must visit places. And finally, Jonathan is an ass.

silent_jay 11-16-2004 08:04 PM

Agreed Jonathan is an ass

Lockjaw 11-16-2004 09:30 PM

This is my second season of it. I've always wanted to watch the show but never could remember to watch it until last season about half way through when that little midget made me want to kick her in the neck. Don't have anybody I really want to lose badly yet although I'm starting to dislike that muscle bound lady.

Oh and Hera is freakin hot. I hope they are on the show for a while so I can drool over her. Mmmm mmmm hells yeah.

mrklixx 11-16-2004 09:53 PM

Interesting that there are no gay (at least openly) contestents again. I guess Chip and Richen were the be-all end-all of the gay racers..

Also If I remember correctly, I dont think there has ever been any asian or middle-eastern contestants.

jaded 11-16-2004 11:33 PM

i watched half an episode of the current amazing race tonight but didnt seem to get the point. were these people trying to race to some destination? can the fans of this show tell me what they like most about the show?

Daval 11-17-2004 05:24 AM

When the annoying yellow shirt guy was standing in the boat even when his wife was telling him to sit down - who else was praying he would fall overboard? That woulda been hillarious!

I also howled with laughter about the airport nuances scene with the models.

Cyn, those are amazing pictures, were you actually there when they filmed? Or just been to many of the same spots?

They're going to Iceland.

Right you are, I changed the thread title. I got the numbers messed up.

inharmony 11-17-2004 05:41 AM

Gorgeous scenery in Iceland! I agree Jonathan's an ass...she may be a bigger one for being with him. I wonder about the father/daughter team. He doesn't seem to know he's in a race. And I did find it a bit funny that the wrestler's look totally fit, but he had trouble running and keeping up. Next week's looks very interesting...can't wait.

BonesCPA 11-17-2004 07:01 AM

I thought it was hilarious when "yellow shirt" wouldn't sit down when his wife said he should, and after he refused the boat "captain" told him to sit down. (I dislike this team.)

At this point the wrestlers are a funny annoying. They give each other crap, but it is equal. Plus, judging from their ice wrestling, they seem to be a fun couple. (I like them, at this point - the bickering could get old.)

And am I the only one who thinks this version should be alternately titled "Amazing Race 36C?" The cleavage was spilling out everywhere. (I like all of the cleavage teams, so sue me.)

Daval 11-17-2004 08:09 AM

cleavage is a good thing :)

Basically it's a race around the world. They race from country to country doing different little tasks and what not and the winner gets a bunch of money. It's pretty fun once you get into it and pick out your favorites and the people you cheer to fail badly. It's an interesting view in human psychology about how people will back stab lie cheat and do every underhanded thing to win but will get beaten by the nice guys. Or how the underdogs will pull off an upset at something.

If I HAD to go out an travel and see the world that would be how I would want to do it. In a nice little globe trotting race.

Ananas 11-19-2004 08:37 PM

OK. I've been debating if I should bring this up, but I just wonder why some of the contestants don't get into shape before entering this contest. It's quite clear from earlier episodes that the race is going to be very strenuous, so why not make an effort to get into reasonable shape? Also, why not take the time to learn the basics of most major languages (Spanish, French, etc)? Reading a map, learning directions, how to drive a stick, and basic geography should also be high on anyone's list of prerequisites before applying for entry.

Just nitpicking....

inharmony 11-19-2004 08:51 PM

I can see your point ananas, but then the show might not be as interesting.? dunno

silent_jay 11-23-2004 06:29 PM

30 minutes in and I'm still hating Jonathan

inharmony 11-23-2004 07:12 PM

Jonathan is more than irritating. Good show...emotions are running a little higher. The best friends truly had it rough this week.

silent_jay 11-23-2004 07:28 PM

I really want to see Jonathan's wife smack him in the face, I kind of think it might happen, she's getting pretty pissed

1slOwCD8 11-23-2004 07:42 PM

I hope someone beats the shit out of Jonathan. Hes just such an ass, "oh im the best, apologize to me now!" He seems to be kinda abusive too. Anyway, i was laughing like crazy when they were trying to ski down the path. Then started raining, im sure that helped.

inharmony 11-24-2004 05:18 AM

I swear I also heard him say, "I'm so proud of myself" never once telling her she's doing a great job. He is undeniably an ASS.

Averett 11-24-2004 05:34 AM

Can't Jonathan just fall off a cliff or something? Please? Can we arrange this?

I have a crush on Phil

BonesCPA 11-24-2004 06:07 AM

Best line of the show last night: "The one is accuracy, so you have to be pretty accurate for that one." (Gotta love wrestlers.)

I was so worried when the sisters made the wrong turn that they would be eliminated (see my previous cleavage comments.)

Did anyone notice in the previews that it appeared as though next week Jonathan makes a partial motion to hit his wife while they are in the backseat of the car. It was very subtle, but it looked like he made a small motion to elbow her in the face. I am hoping for a food competition that would cause an allergic reaction for Jonathan.

inharmony 11-24-2004 06:19 AM

Bones I did notice that...which I gotta say looked liked he caught himself realizing what he was about to do.

crossova 11-24-2004 06:31 AM

ok i missed the first episdoe but there is alot more countries to visit. Cynthetiq, very cool pics =)

Has anyone in here ever applied to get on the show?

Daval 11-26-2004 05:21 AM

I'm a bit late commenting as I just saw the episode finally late last night.

I am so glad the hot sisters weren't eliminated. They were doing pretty good all episode untill that one mistake.

I thought the boat race was hillarious, watching the extreme disfunctionality of the 'idiots' boat.

inharmony 11-26-2004 05:40 AM

I like the sisters I hope they do well. I see them going pretty far if not al the way.

Derwood 11-26-2004 08:15 AM

You could hit Victoria in the face....the Botox would pad the blow.

But seriously, I bet the producers were very happy to see the less attractive teams lose early....all they need is for the Dad and Daughter to go away and they will have a race of supermodels left.

Daval 11-26-2004 11:17 AM

I think the daughter is stunning. her eyes are just beautiful.

Fremen 11-26-2004 06:13 PM

Loving it so far.
Tell me something please, has any of the past seasons' races taken them through Japan?
I don't remember if they have, and I was thinking it would be a great episode with the contestants racing through the countryside and a couple of big cities.
Maybe even the bullet train.

1slOwCD8 11-26-2004 07:27 PM

I dont think theyve gone to japan yet. Im not sure, but i do remember that they went through the phillipines, korea, and singapore. I know they went through the phillipines cuz that was last season, and i remember korea for sure because i remember one of the teams got lost and went to far into like northern korea and the producers had to tell them before they got killed.

Thanks, 1.
That triggered a memory.

Didn't one or more of the teams stop in Japan at an airport on their way to Hawaii?
I seem to recall it was on the last leg of the race where they had to go through Seattle up into Alaska.
I may be misremembering, though. ;)

Thanks for the help. :)

So....lemme get this straight. You'd rather lose the extremely good looking Hera to keep the Botox twins, the roid freak wrestlers(the woman I might add is just fugly with fake boobs), and the old couple?

Hera is hot.

I'm not saying that's what I would want. I'm saying that's likely what the producers would want. I work with TV producers...pretty is everything.

silent_jay 11-30-2004 06:31 PM

The funniest thing in the world, watching wrestlers count.

Oh yeah, I still want Jonathon to die he's the uberass

Derwood I watched Oprah today for the first time since forever, that was nice when she gave the lady all the prizes for her apartment then told her she was buying her a house to fit all the stuff into. A very touching episode.

Lockjaw 11-30-2004 07:00 PM

Oh man I feel sorry for the boobie sisters. How bad must that suck to unroll freakin haybales for 8 hours and still lose?

1slOwCD8 11-30-2004 07:29 PM

Yea, the wrestlers were funny. "64,66,68,........80." 70 buddy, after 68 comes 70 not 80. And yes, jonathan is still a douche bag.

BonesCPA 12-01-2004 06:44 AM

8 hours! You have to get lucky at least once in that whole time. Talk about being born under a bad sign. I am amazed that she kept going the whole time. That's a true competitor. Oh well, my two favorite participants are gone.

Jonathan - still an ass, and getting more so each week.
Bolo - No one told me I'd be doing long division - so funny.
Lena's rack (my two favorite participants) - Thanks for the memories.

Daval 12-05-2004 10:04 AM

I just watched the episode last night, I'm so sad that Lena and her sister are leaving, they were stunning. :()

inharmony 12-06-2004 11:08 AM

I totally missed last weeks episode :( So apparently the sisters are gone...and Jonathan's still an ass.

Daval 12-08-2004 06:05 AM

So, who was screaming at their tv last night for Gus to put his shirt back on?

Otherwise it was a pretty decent episode. The gratuitis(holy typo batman) shots of Kris' cleavage was oh so sweet. Adam is a girly man. Jonathan was very tolerable yesterday, almost started liking the guy. Wow, what a difference editing makes.

Your thoughts?

Yeah the cleavage shots of Gus were not OH SO SWEET...woah. Kris kicked Adam's ass during the salt part of the race. That guy will never survive w/o his mommy. The models, especially her, are starting to get on my nerves a bit. Her comments about 'ghetto africa' were uncalled for imo, she needed to take in their culture/lives instead of worrying about the smells etc.

I don't know about liking Jonathan...although he was a bit more subdued last night.

Averett 12-08-2004 06:19 AM

Great episode! Yes, Gus, put the shirt back on. I was soooo happy it wasn't an elimination pit stop. I love Don and MJ. They're so cute.... I want them to adopt me.

And I LOVE Kris and Jon. They're my favorite. I want them to be my bestest friends :D It was so cute when Kris was doing the salt task and Jon was all "She's so hot" Love them!

Locke7 12-08-2004 06:40 AM

Don't the previews piss you off. Talking about how the wrestlers are going to own a competition that eveyone else sucks at? The only person that sucked was that wus Adam. Best line was when Rebecca said she wanted to jump off the boat.

Kris.... HOT...

Derwood 12-08-2004 06:46 AM

Kris and Jon never fight and always smile. Such a breath of fresh air for this show.

Something about Hayden in that yellow tank top makes me light headed every time I see her.

The models are a bit annoying. "That $30 is more than you make in a year." Best line since the pizza brothers last season calling the natives of South America "Stupid Foreigners"

sherpahigh 12-08-2004 07:21 AM

Last week when they were coming into Stockholm for the rest stop or whatever it's called I thought the boat they were staying on looked familiar and the start of last nights show confirmed it for me. That's where I stayed while in Stockholm last year, I was there in the winter though so it looked a bit different. Pretty cool to see it in the show though.

Anyway, the show last night was pretty good. I agree with everyone about Kris and Jon, they work really well together, and she looks great hauling salt. ;)

Shirtless Gus was a treat and Jonathan talking about wanting kids scared the hell outta me. How'd you like to have dad flip out on you for coloring outside the lines or something? Kids are gonna be serial killers for sure. ;)

Tralls 12-08-2004 07:53 AM

Man, Kris is hot!!

Anyone think she has a bit of the Britney look going, pre-slutty stage, with her little pigtails...yummy!

BonesCPA 12-08-2004 08:43 AM

John was tolerable last night with his comments, but I can keep my fire buring about him when I think of his hat.

I loved how the first group of teams didn't figure out the tower opened before 10am. I knew it wouldn't affect the end result since they always bunch them back together, but nonetheless, it was fun to wonder how long they would lounge around before they figure things out.

(I am starting to sound repetitive, but...) Kris cleavage - good. Gus cleavage - not so good.

Daval 12-08-2004 10:50 AM

Does anyone else find the start times kind of pointless? I see the benefit of it, but more often than not the first task they have to perform has a set opening time and they are always bunched up again, its almost like a penalty to the first starting team since they have that much more wasted time to kill.

At least try and eliminate the opening times of these next clues and let them spread out a bit.

Locke7 12-08-2004 11:06 AM

The waiting times have been around since the first amazing race. My guess is that it is the only way to keep each hour episode interesting. If they didn't do this some teams that got a head early could possibly end up winning by days if the circumstances were right. The first teams last night made it in 5 hours before the last teams. Do that a couple of times and you will start hitting planes a day before the others. I do think it was funny how Kris and Jon make too pretty big mistakes (wait till 10 for the tower, and then the wrong cemetary), and then end up getting in first. Anyways, I think that team will do very well because of the type of relationship they have. Even when they messed up, they kept an optimistic attitude. Can you imagine if that happened to Jon? We might have seen fists flying.

Daval 12-08-2004 11:12 AM

I can indeed see the problem with teams getting TOO far ahead in the game, and I'm sure they can compensate for that by maybe limiting the head start to 5 or 6 hours per stage.

I only started watching Amazing Race with last season, so unfortunately I don't know much about what happened before that.

Averett 12-15-2004 05:53 AM

Jonathan disgusts me. He's bitching about his bag, so he drops it. She picks his up. He smacks her for doing so, when they finished SECOND. The fuck? Phil looks a bit disturbed at him... I'm really hoping that this fool is just playing for the cameras. I feel sorry for his wife.

I love Kris and Jon. They're my favorites....

My two remaining teams in the Amazing Race game I'm in finished 1st and 3rd! yay!

I would like to know what his "entrepreneur" job actually is, because I couldn't see anyone wanting to do business with him. And I wish it would have been Jonathan that would have gotten into a fight with Bolo, because it would have been fun to watch Bolo squeeze Jonathan until his little blue-haired head popped off.

Also, I didn't realize until just a few minutes ago that "Victoria" is Victoria Fuller - January 1996 Playboy Playmate.

I guess if you have a Ferrari, it doesn't matter what kind of prick you are.

Lockjaw 12-15-2004 06:33 AM

I was watching this at my parent's house and when he hit her everybody started yelling at the tv. I hope he gets bitten by something very poisonous along the way.

That said...I was also dumbfounded at some of the ignorant things said by some of the racers this week while they were in Africa.
"Wow...no wonder so many people escaped from this place." Huh?!
"Ugh...why do they keep breeding in this poverty?" I'm starting to find things not to like about all the teams. My favorites in the old couple got bumped off, my second favorites Gus and Hera seem to always find a way to get lost from point a to point b and since Gus can't run they'll always be behind the athletic teams....so they will be out soon. I just might be forced into cheering for Bolo.

I was thinking the same thing about what they were saying. I can understand why Americans are sooo hated. And Jonathan, wow, I did feel sorry for her in the beginning, but the more I see of him I realize she has to be totally in it for his money which really doesn't say much for her either. He's going to hit her on camera. He pretty much did it last night. Can you imagine what he does in the privacy of their home?

All those quotes (and several more like them) were said by Kendra. She is also the one who didn't know what a beer stein was.

But hey, who says models are stupid?

I was thinking the same thing. He made a motion last week to elbow her in the face, but held back. You have to wonder about what's going on behind the closed doors.

Damnit! My viewing of it got cut off in the first 15 min.
Sounds like it was a great show. :(

Anybody know what their rules are regarding violent contact with other contestants?

blitz.fenix 12-15-2004 02:14 PM

Aaron and Hayden are an awesome team, was really pissed off how Bolo was behaving and especially Jonathan. Sadly, he's one of the funniest contestants on the show ever. :|

Daval 12-16-2004 05:32 AM

If you're the sort of pessimistic person who believes that evil will always triumph over good, and you want to convince someone else of that fact, then your first exhibit should be the last two episodes of The Amazing Race. Look at kind, old Don and Mary Jean: so sweet to each other and everyone around them, no matter how stressful things get. The kind of people who, when stripped of their money, refuse to ask the poor Senegalese people to subsidize them. Surely in a just world they would conquer all! But no: Last week they were crushed and were given a second chance just so they could get crushed again this week and then sent home. It was as if the show were saying, ''Hey, oldies! You stink, but wait, we need a second opinion, so try again. Yep, we were right, you stink! Now get on your Rascal scooters and go home!''

It's sad to see them go, but in a way it's kind of a relief, since there were only so many times you could watch them wander around lost, and it became a bit heartbreaking. And every moment they were lapped around the globe by the horrific Jonathan and Victoria was to be presented with far too much empirical evidence that life is unfair.

This episode started with a tender moment, the kind that The Amazing Race should stop doing. The visit to the Slave House, the last place Africans saw before getting on ships and losing their freedom, was an incredibly emotional experience — plunked right in the middle of a game show. Why not gather the Big Brother housemates together and show them The Sorrow and the Pity? There's something unseemly about slowed-down interludes like this when you know that the second the contestants leave, they'll be screaming, ''Who's got the envelope?'' and dashing into a cab, the Slave House tossed over their shoulders onto the heap of memories that include tearing apart giant hay bales and roller skiing.

And, the Slave House behind them, dash they did. First to a travel agent to get tickets to Germany, where Hayden called Bolo a five-foot-five-inch steroid taker. Bolo didn't mind the short crack, but he was a little too defensive about the steroid accusation, don'tcha think? Boy, did Hayden make him her Jason Giambitch.

Then it was off to the Berlin Wall, which the show thankfully treated like any other monument, except for Gus' comment on how that and the Slave House proved how human beings can be capable of so much horror. (But more on Jonathan and Victoria later.) More noticeably, this destination gave far too many teams the opportunity to make a Fahrvergnugen joke. It's good to know that even under this much pressure, players can still recall 15-year-old advertising campaigns. When the going gets really tough, perhaps someone will draw strength from an ''Avoid the Noid'' reference.

The next two challenges weren't all that compelling, in that they really didn't trip anybody up. Whether they were delivering beer steins (steins are giant mugs, Kendra, you maroon) or squeezing out sausages, it was pretty hard to fail. (Although Lori and Bolo found a way, by making their sausages too short. There's a complicated joke to be made about Bolo and steroids and the fact that he couldn't get anything to be seven inches long, but in the tradition of the Ikea challenge, I'll let you assemble it yourselves.) The only suspense in the beer challenge was whether or not Hera was going to be able to stop thirsty Gus from diving into a keg. Suddenly, Gus' enormous gut makes a lot more sense.

My original thesis that life is unfair brings us to the episode's conclusion. While the kind and loving Don and Mary Jean struggled to find an enormous statue in the middle of Berlin, the two teams battling it out for first place were the two most unpleasant in the race. We had Kendra, who had proclaimed in Senegal, ''This city is just wretched and disgusting. And they just keep breeding and breeding.'' And just when you thought, ''I'd never root for her,'' she ends up battling it out against the deeply disturbing Jonathan and Victoria, who are starting to look more and more like claymation figures. When your only choices as to whom to root for in a footrace are these two teams, you find yourself cheering for shinsplints.

Jonathan went from wailing that he couldn't run with his backpack (with Victoria yelling at him to keep going) to dropping his backpack and screaming at Victoria for picking it up. She looked so agonized, perhaps because she was doing twice the amount of work on two fronts: Not only was she carrying Jonathan's backpack and her own, but the bottom half of her face had to do twice the contorting to make up for the fact that the top half is immobile. Is it any wonder she was so tired?

This whole adrenaline-pumped footrace was foolish in its very premise, in that they were competing for first place in a segment where there were still six teams behind them. Did they really want that trip from American Airlines that badly? I've always thought that would be the worst prize ever for this game: Hey, you've been flying for hundreds of hours, now here's a few more! After this race, the best gift would be house arrest and a plasma TV.

But Jonathan reached a whole new level of psychosis, even physically pushing Victoria at the end and screaming at her more in front of Phil, which so bothered our host that he broke tradition and said more than ''You're team number _____.'' Our finish-line therapist told Jonathan that he should talk to Victoria, and Jonathan took that suggestion and went over to browbeat her some more. Thanks, Phil, I almost let that one lie! Now where was I? Oh yeah, you're useless and I hate you and you're killing me. . . .

Earlier in the race, when Victoria had told Jonathan to leave her alone, he said, ''I never promised I'd leave you alone. That's why I married you.'' I think he meant it romantically, but instead it sounded like the kind of thing a psychotic husband says in a horror movie just before he kills his wife with a garden hoe. If Don had said it to Mary Jean, it would have come off a lot more touching, but there'll be none of that: Those two lovebirds have been put on a fast plane home. There's no room for that kind of sensitivity on The Amazing Race.

What do you think? Can the evil couples be stopped? Does the show need to intervene with Jonathan and Victoria?

All of us have our faults. Unfortunately for me millions of viewers are getting to see mine each week. I do not abuse Victoria,
what you see is a heighten version of stress and obsession mix with medication for a sickness called Sarcoidosis. What was stared as a publicity stunt turn in to an obsession to race and be first at any cost. This is a GAME and I set out to be the Villain to others not to Victoria. Victoria and I are working on our relationship to better our self and learn form our mistakes. I am taking full responsibly for my actions on screen. Please allow me to make the effort.

I am deeply sadden by the storyline that CBS went with. I am sorry for my actions, I am sorry to Victoria. Most all I am sorry to the Fans of the Amazing Race.

How dare CBS make a storyline out of things I actually did!

If this team wins, it will actually be worse than Zach and Flo a few seasons back. I didn't think anyone deserved to win less than that whiny bitch, but hey, we may have new kings of the hill.

Sorry Johnny Fairplay, you no longer are King of the "Reality Villain" Hill

mrklixx 12-16-2004 07:46 AM

I'm guessing the translation of Jonathan's "statement" is that it 's probably effecting his business, so he's trying to do some damage control.

He takes full responsibility for his actions, BUT it was all prescription drugs and CBS's fault.

(I'd believe it was drugs, just not the prescription kind. Which leads to the question that I wonder if these reality shows do drug tests on the contestants?)

Lockjaw 12-16-2004 08:27 AM

Crap since he was able to write that my wish of him dying a horrible death or at least a horiffic injury. Ah well...I hope they lose at least.

Daval 12-16-2004 10:49 AM

I doubt they are doing any illegal drugs while on the race. They have to go through waaaay too many borders and customs agents. In many countries they still use dogs openly and they would be nailed instantly.

mrklixx 12-16-2004 11:23 AM

That's another thing. I wonder if the airports are notified ahead of time? "Tommorrow you are going to have 20 crazy people running through your airport with camera crews". If so, I would bet that the security rules may get bent a bit, because I would imagine that if Joe Average went running an screaming through an airport, they would probably be taken out by security.

Locke7 12-16-2004 12:28 PM

So what he is saying is that it is OK to be abusive as long as you have a reason like stress or drugs, or editing? The guy is a jerk, and if he gets like that ON camera, I'd hate to see what happens OFF.

We should start a count in this thread. I think the wind up of a swing in the taxi is the type of action that should count. Would he have just slapped her if the camera wasn't two feet away...

silent_jay 12-16-2004 12:55 PM

I think the host should have knocked the piss out of Jonathon. Or maybe let Bolo practice some moves on him, could be good.

Locke7 12-21-2004 07:04 PM

Are you kidding?? Too be continued? I wonder if this is some ploy to keep the racers in sync because Bolo and wife got so far behind. And the best part, it was Amazing Race's fault. We're going to put them in cars that we know will break down. Only problem with that is, only one car broke down bad enough to cause a team to fall behind. I'm guessing in next weeks episode, the now ~12 hours behind Lori and Bolo team miraculously catches up again... Or, it will be a non elimination round and the following episode will show them "wrestling" for money.

My favorites by far are Kris and Jon. You haven't heard them say one bad word to each other and are always motivating one another. It actually looks like they are having fun. I like Gus and Hera as well, but face it, Kris is better to look at than Gus...

1slOwCD8 12-21-2004 08:45 PM

How many markers are there usually? It seems like there will be more than usual, because ist the pit stop usually after the detour? Anyway, i dont think the wrestlers can catch up, itll be too late. wait when did the cafe say itll open, 10am or pm. I thought i saw pm, but that doesnt make any sense. I thought it would of been too late cuz the train wont leave till 7am, and there wont be anyway theyll catch up.

Fremen 12-21-2004 08:59 PM

Cab driver = hero!
Jonathan = pwned!
So funny...

Too bad Victoria couldn't tie John's nuts around a cannonball and launch them to the Moon.

That was definitely the highlight of the show imo. He was totally speechless. His blaming Gus and Hera for taking their tickets, give me a break. They went to a travel agent and hey just happened to book before Jonathan and Victoria...YEAH!! Waiting patiently for next week...

Averett 12-22-2004 05:25 AM

I missed the first 10 minutes :( Stupid CBS changing the timeslot!

BonesCPA 12-22-2004 06:57 AM

I am now taking bets on what episode someone will finally smack Jon and who it will be. I thought last season with Colin's ugly American with the taxi driver was the lowest a player could get. Jon has proven me wrong - not only does he berate a ticket agent, but he annoys a taxi driver so much that they get booted. That was a happy moment in my household. At least Victoria finally started giving him back a little crap.

And yeah, wtf is with this to be continued crap. If Lori and Bolo aren't eliminated, I am going to be real annoyed. I love their attitudes and personalities, but they should be gone.

Daval 12-22-2004 07:20 AM

I don't think bolo and lori falling behind is AR's fault. They took backroads all the way to the detour and not the highway (M3) like everyone else.

Although it would be nice to see them stay, I don't think it was their fault.

blitz.fenix 12-22-2004 11:04 AM

Darnit I missed the show because my building had a power outtage for 3 hours. So I am assuming that no one got eliminated? And it's to be continued?

silent_jay 12-22-2004 11:55 AM

Yes it was to be continued

inharmony 12-29-2004 11:58 AM

:( I missed last nights episode....please someone tell me what happened!

BonesCPA 12-29-2004 12:17 PM

We skipped it once it appeared to be a "best of" episode. From what we could tell, since we only watched the first 30 seconds, was that they were going to recap what happened so far and show some "extra" footage. So I don't think anything really happened last night.

inharmony 12-29-2004 12:19 PM

Cool...thanks bones.

blitz.fenix 12-29-2004 03:41 PM

Are they still recording episodes since they had to do that recap show?

Daval 12-30-2004 09:38 AM

I think they probably did a best of since a lot of people are on holidays and partying and stuff so they wouldnt get the big ratings they usually get.

Its the same reason many of our favourite shows are all repeats this week.

Averett 12-30-2004 10:06 AM

But hey, we got to see Kris and Jon in minimal attire. Id say that's a win for the audience!

Are you serious?? I shut it off after they said it was a recap show. If I would have known Kris would be showing off, I would have definitly stayed.

Daval 01-04-2005 08:06 PM

I thought todays episode was absolutely hillarious. My wife and I were laughing constantly during the soup eating challenge.

Its sad to see Gus and Hera go, I liked Hera and Gus is good for comedic value :)

In the preview for next weeks race when Adam was in the old fashioned Scuba outfit my daughter asked me is that what I wear when I go diving.

Averett 01-05-2005 05:17 AM

Poor Gus and Hera. Although we were spared the Gus Speedo shot....

But the Lord gave us a Jon Speedo shot. And it was lovely.

Adam is such a wuss. He's always "If I die tell my mother I love her." Dude, grow a pair and shuddap.

inharmony 01-05-2005 05:27 AM

Last nights was great. Hated to see Gus and Hera go. And the hot soup challenge was flippin hilarious. All that puke...ewww.

BonesCPA 01-05-2005 06:14 AM

It was sad to see Gus and Hera go. They were a fun team, but I did feel like they were due. They always seem to just make it on the challenges.

The best part about the eating challenge was when Hayden pointed out Victoria throwing up and that caused Aaron to start puking. Gotta love chain reaction vomiting. What amazed me was that Adam and Rebecca were finished sixth when they were the second ones out of the restaurant. She must have spent a lot of time emptying out.

And of course Jonathan never ceases to amaze me that he can go lower each week. At least everyone realizes that he makes Victoria do the hard tasks and he takes the easy ones.

Daval 01-05-2005 06:44 AM

It only looked like Rebecca had a quick puke by the door, they must have taken a really long way to the pitstop. Rebecca is awesome, I like her more and more each week, she's hillarious and tough.
