Not sure I can come up with 10 but....

1. Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (yeah!)
2. Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy
3. Charlie and Chocolate Factory
4. Indiana Jones IV
4. Passion of Clerks
5. Pirates of The Caribbean II
6. Maybe the next Harry Potter
...

yeah, got up to 6. There may be more, but I can't remember what else I was looking forward to. I'd say Oceans 12, but that comes out just before 2005 .

Oh, also.... some of those may not be coming out in 2005. They may be in 2006 or beyond.... I haven't checked imdb to be sure.

I didn't know they were making a second Boondock Saints. Very cool, looks like there's some good stuff to look forward too!

Indian Jones IV is no longer planned for 2005. The script was rejected by George Lucas. So, it's back to the drawing board. Maybe 2006 if we're lucky.

Passion of Clerks should be funny, and if/when they do Da Vinci Code, it should be interesting to compare it to the book. I wish I knew more movies coming out.

I don't know, as fun as it is to kick around casting ideas for The Watchmen, I really worry about what might happen to it. That is one of the most tightly structured books ever, and it is one of my all time favorites. Last time someone took on a favorite book of mine, I wouldn't watch anything of his for 10 years (that being David Lynch's wholesale butchery of Dune.) I liked Terry Gilliam's Idea of making it a very long (like 12 hour) movie split into segments like they did with LOTR. I don't see any other way of making it work.

So I can't make that an anticipated movie. Perhaps a dreaded one.

I really don't have much of a clue what's coming out in `05... but I'm very much looking forward to the Chronicles of Narnia and the Hitchhiker's Guide... and fervently hoping they don't depart TOO much from the books.

interesting, i based all movies in my list on the directors
im going to have to check this book out now
im usually disappointed in remakes (insomnia) and most adaptations are lacking too. i guess i have grown to expect less...although i don't read many of the books that are turned into movies.

here is a list if you guys are too lazy to see what's coming out
just keep clicking next at the bottom...

Ooh...I completely forgot about Serenity. I can get my Joss Whedon fix at the theatre come April

Okay, so now that I have a big long list to choose from, here's what I'm looking forward to:

The Chronicles of Narnia
the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Serenity
Star Wars
Bag of Bones
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
the new Harry Potter
Kingdom of Heaven
A Sound of Thunder
The Talisman

hmmmm... almost all of them are based on books, and I'm afraid I'll end up being disappointed. *crosses fingers*

Bride and Prejudice - From the maker's of Bend it Like Beckham, it looks promising
Batman Begins - two words, Christian Bale.
Pirates of the Caribbean II - Should be a fun movie
Phantom of the Opera - For the cinematograpghy and production alone I would see this one

8: War of the Worlds
9: Hitchikers Guide
10: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
11: All other movies pevious posted and ones I am forgetting about.

The reason why there are so many sequels and remakes mentioned is because the original movies come out of no where, so they aren't anticipated. I do believe there will be 10-15 indie films that make a good theatrical release after they prove themselves at the film festivals.

Batman Begins may be awesome, Christian Bale definetly has the right kind of attitude for that kinda stuff. he was a grim fella in american psycho, and in equillibrium he was emotionless, pretty good background movies for an awesome dark knight. I hope they give him a really long cape.

I think it's really quite cool all the great books being made into movies....the recent adaptation of Lord of the Rings turned out quite well. I guess it all depends if they give the producers/directiors enough money/time

absolutely, i don't go to big studio movies unless the situation is inescapable. i really dislike predictability and banality, although a quality studio pic comes around every 4-5 months.

Narnia will be nice, if they focus it correctly. It's not a pure action/adventure and would benefit from outstanding acting, IMHO.

Shirow's CG version of Appleseed is due in January in US, and I heard nice things from the Japanese release.

And as much as I admire mr. johnny depp, gene wilder as willy wonker is a class act. The director and writers must be as top notch, otherwise depp will look like a fool.

Just going off the Rotten Tomatoes link provided somewhere above. Some of these probably won't make it by 2005.

1. Batman Begins
2. Sin City
3. Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire
4. Passion of the Clerks
5. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
7. Fantastic Four

um... can't do this anymore...

8. maybe Elektra?

I can't find 10 that I want to see. I share a sentiment expressed earlier on the thread, and that is that we can only really anticipate sequels and remakes. I have no doubt that there'll be some great underdogs this year that will come out of nowhere. The first Matrix was like that for me:

going in to the Matrix: "I haven't heard about this...looks like it could be dumb."

leaving the Matrix: "...drool..."

The only ones I'm REALLY looking forward to are Sahara, I'm a huge Clive Cussler fan, and Harry Potter...huge JK Rowling fan as well.

The Narnia movie could be interesting, haven't heard anything about it, and Batman could be promising as well.
