Top Ten Most Anticipated Movies of 2005
What are your top ten . . . well you can read.
Mine. (no particular order) 1. Batman Begins 2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factorey 3. Fantastic Four 4. Be Cool 5. The Chronicles of Narnia 6. Star Wars Ep. 3 7. The Da Vinci Code 8. The Passion of the Clerks 9. King Kong 10. War of Worlds |
Not sure I can come up with 10 but....
1. Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (yeah!) 2. Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy 3. Charlie and Chocolate Factory 4. Indiana Jones IV 4. Passion of Clerks 5. Pirates of The Caribbean II 6. Maybe the next Harry Potter ... yeah, got up to 6. There may be more, but I can't remember what else I was looking forward to. I'd say Oceans 12, but that comes out just before 2005 :). Oh, also.... some of those may not be coming out in 2005. They may be in 2006 or beyond.... I haven't checked imdb to be sure. |
They're making another Indiana Jones movie?
Will Indy be whizzing around in a wheelchair?! Good grief... Mr Mephisto |
I didn't know they were making a second Boondock Saints. Very cool, looks like there's some good stuff to look forward too! :)
|
maybe the wes anderson movie...when is that out? it's about an oceanographer.
the life aquatic i think. apparently mike judge has another movie coming out called 3001. tim burton - the corpse bride scorcese - the departed (with dicaprio again apparently) aronofsky - the fountain lars von trier - manderlay sofia coppola - marie antoinette aronofsky - watchmen larry clark - wassup rockers and who can wait for miss congeniality 2? i really thought the first one left us with some big questions. |
Too bad 3001 isn't a movie based on the last book in the 2001 series by Aurthor C. Clarke.

Does anyone else find it disturbing that the only things we look forward to are sequels and remakes?

Is a shame though. |
Passion of the Clerks
Star Wars Hopefully Wes Anderson will come out with something Watchmen - It's either gonna be great or suck ass. (no middle ground there) Fantastic Four - see above Don't know what else is coming. Willy Wonka Should not be remade! Fucking Hollywood. |
Passion of Clerks should be funny, and if/when they do Da Vinci Code, it should be interesting to compare it to the book. I wish I knew more movies coming out.
|
i can't wait for 'The Dukes of Hazzard'
|
I don't know, as fun as it is to kick around casting ideas for The Watchmen, I really worry about what might happen to it. That is one of the most tightly structured books ever, and it is one of my all time favorites. Last time someone took on a favorite book of mine, I wouldn't watch anything of his for 10 years (that being David Lynch's wholesale butchery of Dune.) I liked Terry Gilliam's Idea of making it a very long (like 12 hour) movie split into segments like they did with LOTR. I don't see any other way of making it work.
So I can't make that an anticipated movie. Perhaps a dreaded one. |
I really don't have much of a clue what's coming out in `05... but I'm very much looking forward to the Chronicles of Narnia and the Hitchhiker's Guide... and fervently hoping they don't depart TOO much from the books.

im going to have to check this book out now im usually disappointed in remakes (insomnia) and most adaptations are lacking too. i guess i have grown to expect less...although i don't read many of the books that are turned into movies. here is a list if you guys are too lazy to see what's coming out just keep clicking next at the bottom... |

Ooh...I completely forgot about Serenity. I can get my Joss Whedon fix at the theatre come April :D
Okay, so now that I have a big long list to choose from, here's what I'm looking forward to: The Chronicles of Narnia the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Serenity Star Wars Bag of Bones Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason the new Harry Potter Kingdom of Heaven A Sound of Thunder The Talisman hmmmm... almost all of them are based on books, and I'm afraid I'll end up being disappointed. *crosses fingers* |
Alexander - It has Angelina Jolie, what more do I need to say? :p
Blade: Trinity - I loved the first two, I'm sure the third won't disappoint. Ocean's Twelve - Just good ole entertainment Bride and Prejudice - From the maker's of Bend it Like Beckham, it looks promising Batman Begins - two words, Christian Bale. Pirates of the Caribbean II - Should be a fun movie Phantom of the Opera - For the cinematograpghy and production alone I would see this one |
1: The Currently Untitled Charlie Kaufman/Spike jonze film.
2: King Kong 3: Star Wars 4: Batman Begins 5: Transformers(possiblely 2006) 6: Robots 7: Aeon Flux 8: War of the Worlds 9: Hitchikers Guide 10: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe 11: All other movies pevious posted and ones I am forgetting about. The reason why there are so many sequels and remakes mentioned is because the original movies come out of no where, so they aren't anticipated. I do believe there will be 10-15 indie films that make a good theatrical release after they prove themselves at the film festivals. |
Batman Begins may be awesome, Christian Bale definetly has the right kind of attitude for that kinda stuff. he was a grim fella in american psycho, and in equillibrium he was emotionless, pretty good background movies for an awesome dark knight. I hope they give him a really long cape.
I think it's really quite cool all the great books being made into movies....the recent adaptation of Lord of the Rings turned out quite well. I guess it all depends if they give the producers/directiors enough money/time |
1. Star Wars
2. Star Wars 3. White Chicks 2 |
Why only look to Hollywood unless otherwise noted they are all Korean
Ong Bak 2 (Thai) Rikidozan Godzilla Final Wars (Japanese) Jumeoki Unda Another Public Enemy Typhoon (going to be awesome) A Bitter Sweet Life Taepoong Taeyang Antarctic Journal Ab-normal Beauty (HK Oxide Pang rules!) The Hidden Blade (Japan from the man who brought us Twilight Samurai) I could go on but i seem to have passed 10 |
Coach Carter (what?)
Son of the mask (I LOVE making fun of terrible movies like this will be) The Ring 2 Star Wars CURIOUS GEORGE Green Hornet ... Dear god, next year is going to suck. |
Could the Narnia Chronicles have the same impact as LOTR? Dare I ask? Or will the liberal masses reject it due to its subliminal Christian themes?

My List: 1. Star Wars 2. Batman Begins 3. Indy Jones IV 4. Pirates of the Caribbean part deux 5. uhh.....there are other movies coming out in '05?? :hmm: :D |

Narnia will be nice, if they focus it correctly. It's not a pure action/adventure and would benefit from outstanding acting, IMHO.
Shirow's CG version of Appleseed is due in January in US, and I heard nice things from the Japanese release. And as much as I admire mr. johnny depp, gene wilder as willy wonker is a class act. The director and writers must be as top notch, otherwise depp will look like a fool. |
1. Sin City (oh man, can't wait!)
2. Corpse Bride 3. King Kong 4. War of the Worlds 5. Star Wars Episode III 6. Untitled Mike Judge Project 7. The Brothers Grimm 8. Batman Begins 9. Kingdom of Heaven 10. Wallace and Gromit And IF they get out in 2005, I'd replace a couple of those with Passion of the Clerks and Green Hornet (I'm a sucker for Kevin Smith flicks). |

I want that DVD so much :( |
its all about batman and hitchhikers guide.
|
Actually yeah... The Devil's Rejects, sequel to House of 1000 Corpses.
It's a sequel, but it's Rob Zombie, so I highly doubt it's gonna suck ;) |

Just going off the Rotten Tomatoes link provided somewhere above. Some of these probably won't make it by 2005.
1. Batman Begins 2. Sin City 3. Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire 4. Passion of the Clerks 5. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 6. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 7. Fantastic Four um... can't do this anymore... 8. maybe Elektra? I can't find 10 that I want to see. I share a sentiment expressed earlier on the thread, and that is that we can only really anticipate sequels and remakes. I have no doubt that there'll be some great underdogs this year that will come out of nowhere. The first Matrix was like that for me: going in to the Matrix: "I haven't heard about this...looks like it could be dumb." leaving the Matrix: "...drool..." |
1. final Fantasy7: advant children
2. Boondock Saints 2- but I have yet to find real proof this movie is truly being made, i would love for someone to prove me wrong 3.Ghost Rider |
I can't think of three, much less ten....
The only ones I'm REALLY looking forward to are Sahara, I'm a huge Clive Cussler fan, and Harry Potter...huge JK Rowling fan as well. The Narnia movie could be interesting, haven't heard anything about it, and Batman could be promising as well. |
What the hell is with all the sequels being released?!? I have a bad feeling about next year, a lot of these sequels being made had decent beginnings but they should have never made sequels...
|
I would have to say:
1 Star Wars III 2 Charlie and the Choclate Factory 3 Pirates 2 4 The Ring 2 5 Batman 6 Fantastic 4 thats all I can really think of .... but I really can't wait till this summer when I get to see Star wars I'm already going nuts over it!!! It has been too long since the last one! |

1. Ender's Game (read the book if you haven't already, brilliant.)
2. Harry Potter 3. Pirates 2/3 4. Rush Hour 3 (didn't even realise this was being filmed.) 5. King Kong 6. Pride and Prejudice I've heard that the guys who did X-Men are going to do Superman? I wish they would continue with X-Men 3, but whatever they do, I'll probably watch it. On a side note, this cracked me up: Die Hard 4: Die Hardest |
i cant wait for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.... it looks spectacular
