I thought 'The Cell' was gross and unworthy of my time. Same goes with 'Pulp Fiction.' Sorry, I just have trouble glorifying criminals in movies and I prefer a movie that is on a higher level on consciousness and more artistic. I don't need to have nightmares from movies I rent for entertainment.

Red Jake's avatar reminded me of one. I didn't like Blues Brothers the first time I saw it. But when I watched it again I thought it was better.

Pulp Fiction. I was so stoned when I saw it I didnt realize it wasnt going in order. My friends and I walked out when we saw Travolta was alive after being shot. Didnt realize the next scene helped explain everything! Saw it later witha little clearer head and loved it!

After seeing Fight Club the first time I was completely disappointed. But now I have to admit that it is one of the sweetest films in the past decade.

Same thing with Fight Club. When I watched it before I read the book I was unsatisfied. After reading the book, though, it's a lot better.

Aladdin. Too many screaming kids around me to enjoy it. Now one of my favorites.
Honeymoon in Vegas. Wasn't funny. Now I 'get' it, and LOVE it.
Fight Club. Umm...OK. Now, it's worth watching pretty often.
Moulin Rouge. Walked out scratching my head, ended up with that as the theme at my wedding and dancing to the main love song.

Fifth Element - first time I was expecting a "serious" sci-fi flick. second through hundreth times I realized this was a very slick comedy.

13th Warrior - not sure what I was expecting from this the first time around but when I watched it again I decided that some of the dialogue was really witty and well written.

I know there is one more but I just can't think of it now....

Lord of the Rings (FotR and TTT). Probably because I loved the books so much that I kept critiqing them in my head the first time I saw them. But, I love them both now. Jackson did an excellent job. Of course, Return of the King was brilliant the first time through.

All 3 Lord Of The Rings films. I know what you're going to ask... Why did I watch 2 and 3 if I hated the first one. It's because everyone said 3 was soo good. As it turned out, 2 was a total waste of time for me. The movie pretty much started and ended at the same point, with a lot of dead freaks in between. As for 3, I would consider every one of the other Oscar nominees a better flick (I saw non-nominated "In America" last night... It was superb). I will agree that Peter Jackson definitely deserved recognition for the scale and scope of the project. Just call me Mr. Minority Opinion.

I've had this happen with books, but not with movies. I can't recall a movie that I really hated in a theatre that I liked when I saw it later. I expected to hate Spice World, but it turned out to be not half bad. Ditto Beavis and Butthead.

Books, on the other hand, I have that happen all the time. The First time I tried reading Camus' <i>The Plague</i> I absolutely loathed it. The second time, 10 years later, it really is an awesome book.

Catmandu is right.
And IMO LOTRs 2 is a TOTAl waste of time and money. But then I like the books better. Go figure.

I watched LOTR in the cinema and i hated it. Then I rented it and watch it from the comfort of my home and I liked it. Same goes for the sequels until I watched them at home. Totally changed my opinion when I watched them at home. I really like the series.

Sure it was a crap movie, sure it sucked. But he was what made it possbile to actually enjoy. Sure bag me out, but he went to my school, he had the same dreams and ambitions as me. And sure as hell do I want to be like him

Anyway Ive never not liked something and then liked it. I had the opposite with Matrix Revolutions.

im going to have to agree with you, although i liked the 2nd one most seeing as how there was killing to make up for the boredom, but the 3rd one, i could do nothing but make fun of it the entire time it was so bad. I was thoroughly dissapointed. It should be noted that i saw these as dvd versions and watched them each 1 week apart. And i never read the books except the hobbit which was in like 6th grade. never cared to read the rest ofem
