His "manipulation" is no different than anything that the local and national news does every day. Anyone can take hours of interviews and sound and edit them into 30 second or 1 minutes clips to fit their viewpoints.
Michael Moore's goal is to challenge people to listen to a different source of info than the news. News says troop morale is high? Well Moore will actually show interviews with troops instead of letting you take the news' word for it, etc.

The kind of thing that Moore is doing can only be healthy. I don’t care what nation your from, you can never entirely trust the people in power, so when someone comes along and gets in their face, using a combination of hard fact and heart-felt opinion, that can only be beneficial; regardless of personal opinion about the issues involved.

Saw the new one today, and it was definitely incredibly slanted, and Im sure he stretched the truth a few times. I tried to keep myself lookign at both sides, and not take too much from his little quotes coming out of context. He still made some very good points. And if you can watch some of the coverage of the war in Iraq, some of the interviews with troops and families, and still vote for Bush this November, you are one cold sonuvabitch.
And it was R, not NC-17. Language and some very disturbing images of injured americans and iraqis. |

I agree that Michael Moore is an excellent film maker. In fact, he is pure genious if you think about it. He can put together films that stir up controversy like nobody's business. He envokes emotion.
However, my opinion is this: If he is going to "show America" how "it REALLY is," or something along those lines, he needs to have the truth up front. Not cut together stuff to make it sound better. Because he is falling for the same thing the government (apparently) does also. He is giving us construed facts and information to make it melt into his opinion of the current government. Sure, he is entitled to his opinion, but in some part of the movie(s) he should take a time-out and tell the audience that the movie is editted to fit his opinions of the government and current situations. Yes, it's a documentary, and yes, it's a good one, but he is converting Bush-lovers to Bush-haters using false information and cut sequences of film. When you are making an documentary about politics, you are stepping into the "serious shit" category, and you need to have your shit straight. You are talking about the leaders of our nation, and who will be elected in November. Lying and construing facts and truths to get your way is immature
