Return of the King... Confused!
I never read the books, hell I never saw the movies until the 2nd one was in the video stores for 6-7 months. I saw a small blurb of Return of the King, so I went and rented the movies and watched them, and saw Return of the King in theatres... but it never hit me till now when I just watched the DVD tonight.
I still am really confused about one thing, at the end, why does Frodo leave Middle Earth? Maybe I missed somthing along the way or somthing, but I still don't understand that part. EDIT: Does it have somthing to do with the pain his shoulder? Last edited by Kurant; 05-25-2004 at 10:04 PM.. |

Frodo leave middle earth because his time there is done. With all that he went though and with the burden of the ring, he is not for the world of Hobbiton any longer.

Yep, they basicially got it. Frodo never fully recovered from all his wounds, both emotional and physical, and so he could never be fully happy in Middle Earth again. Therefore, he was allowed special passage to the Grey Havens (kinda like Heaven for Middle Earth), along with Bilbo, the other ring bearer.

Hey, Mr. Deflock, look above, I already answered that question.
He wore it when he went to save Frodo from the Orcs after Shelob's attack.

the Grey Havens were where they departed from... they were allowed special passage to the Blessed Realm... well not quite, I assume they were allowed to Eressa, but not through the Pelori into Aman

I remember it as Frodo was too restless, and he didn't feel at home without any other adventures. When he went off with the elves, his body and soul could be at rest- it would let the adventurer part of him die, where in Middle Earth, it was always at unease.
