Movies that have affected you most
What are some movies- maybe even one in particular that has moved you, changed you, or affected you greatly in some way?
I would have to say: -Matrix trilogy -Gladiator -Armageddon -Equilibrium -Star Wars (all) -Dreaming with Fishes (indie) -LOTR trilogy -Bruce Almighty |

Definitely the Matrix trilogy. The LOTR trilogy showed that a fantasy series CAN be made into good movies -- something I never thought I'd see.
Saving Private Ryan and the Band of Brothers mini-series. Those are the ones on the top of my head, even though I'm positive there's more out there.

Star Wars influenced me in writing an imaginative Saga with incredible depth.
All of Akira Kurosawa's Samurai epics make me yearn for a time before mechanical facinations. The Last Samurai recently encouraged this yearning and made me feel incredibly sad for modern day man... |

Requiem For a Dream.
I spent the rest of the night basically in shock at the depths of mankind. Death Stalker 1-4 I spent the rest of my night basically in laughter at man's lack of depth or substance or anything of worth

Requiem for a Dream scarred me for life...well...maybe not. But, like mystmarimatt, I spent the rest of the night pretty much in shock.
Hmmm...I can't think of any others. I guess books have more of an impact on me than movies do...

The Usual Suspects. We live in a smoke-and-mirrors world where truth is just another illusion in the service of power, and nothing outside your personal orbit can every truly be known. TUS summed that up brilliantly.

I feel like I'm leaving something major out here. Well, anyway here's my short list.
Glory LOTR Trilogy U.H.F. Swingers The sad thing is that Swingers was the only one out of the four that I didn't cry at the end of. Don't ask me why I cried at the end of U.H.F. I think it was the scene where Weird Al gives Stanley the trophy at the end. "Worlds Greatest Janitor and TV Star"

Forest Gump - the scene where they get ambushed in the jungle
it was the first time i realized that somtimes in a fight there isn't anywhere to take cover Saving Private Ryan - up til then i didn't think about getting killed by something other than a bullet or shell ie. getting hit by a flying brick coming from an exploding building |
