MST3K...Gone from TV!
I just found out that Sci-Fi's contract with MST3K ended last week. So, unless some other channel picks it up, we may never see Joel, Mike and the 'Bots ever again on TV!
I'm a little depressed by this, but I was thinking, wouldn't SpikeTV be perfect for it? I mean, they already show parody shows, like MXC, so maybe they'll pick it up, and actually play some of the old Comedy Central episodes. Now, if that happened, I know I'd be watching and taping every episode. Any other thoughts, news out there? |

I have't had cable in over 4 months, so I haven't been able to get my MST3K fix. I really hope someone picks up the rights and puts them back on TV... I always enjoyed the lovely commentary.

I haven't been able to drag my ass outta bed on Saturday mornings to watch it anyway.
Maybe Spiketv will get it, but I'd rather it be on TCM or AMC (or others like it) and have them show it on Saturday matinees.

I always liked the MST Hour, with Mike as... oh, that movie host guy from AMC. I forget his name. Anyway, some of the best episodes, and you don't have to set two hours aside.
I agree with Fremen, it's really hard to get motivated on Saturday mornings, so I wouldn't have known about this for a while if not for this thread. Spike is definitely a good place for it, though.

MST3K is easily one of the best shows of all time. Too bad most people don't know what you're talking about when you mention it. Definately underrated, but it did last several seasons.
You can pick up some DVD sets off Amazon for a good price. There's four movies in a set. Too bad they don't have nearly all the movies on DVD though. |

Well, I was getting up, jumping on the stationary bike for a while and watching MST3K, but I guess that's down the tubes.
Sigh. Hope someone picks it up. Still have the DVD's though. Yeah!

I doubt anyone will pick up, since it's simply a pain to renew the rights for all of those movies.
I didn't have Cable as a child, but I had a History Teacher who would tape them for me let me borrow 'em. I loved the Joel years, and was kind of put off by Mike when he first took over but eventually grew to love him... *sigh* ROBOT ROLL CALL
