house of 1000 corpses
finally saw it last night. probably the new definitive horror flick. for those of you who don't know, this is the horror flick that was written and directed by rob zombie, so going into the movie i had high hopes... and boy, were they rewarded. it starts a little slow, but don't let that get you down... you'll be drenched in the blood and guts before long. the movie is shot ina way very remeniscent of his music videos... there are montages that lead up to scenes and whole sections that look like one thing and actually entail something completely different. in the end, it's a classic horror flick. amazing amount of gore, truly fucked up... a MUST SEE for any fan of scary movies.

That movie sounds awesome! I've been waiting for a couple years to be able to see it! I don't know if I should wait for the DVD, or if I should see the movie in the theater.

I gotta go pull this thread up again. This was a good movie. It WAS a horror but it was really closer to a really dark comedy. As far as horrors go this is probably the best I have seen for awhile. Namely because while it totally fucked up its fairly realistic (untill the end...) and yes Baby Firefly. She may be a totally fucked up saddistic serial killer bitch but damn... I would STILL fuck her.

I gots me a free pass for this, from a radio station friend. I was gonna skip it, cuz as World's said, there've been bad things said about it.
But you all have got me reconsidering it, if for nothing more than this "Baby" character... |

i didn't really like this movie! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUNNN!!!!
i've waited soooo long for this...i wanted to like it...i did... i would have been more forgiving if rob zombie had just said, "hey guys, i'm going to re-make the texas chainsaw massacre!"... i never expected this movie to be a true horror film, as in scary and making you afraid of the dark or whatever it is that people are afraid of now-a-days...hehe...but yeah, i was basically expecting a b-movie along the lines of the insanely genius, "killer klowns from outerspace"...you know, a movie that has some gore and some good laughs, nothing actually frightening, but just a good time... instead, i get a totally non-gory film(seriously, no gore...not even the normal R-rated gore...no bodies being sliced,guts...nothing...that NC-17 version better show us the real stuff) that was made to purely show off how well rob zombie can throw catchy phrases into the dialogue...that's all this movie was about, the catchy phrases and showing how fucked up a group of people can be... the psycho hillbilly family in this movie had absolutely NO MOTIVE towards killing or harming the people they choose...now how fucking lame is that? very lame, i'll tell you...i don't remember any of the characters names except for Baby and Captain Spaulding...basically because all of the characters were so cliche, it didn't even matter who the hell they were! this movie looked as if it were filmed with a dirty lense and using one flashlight to light up the scenes! half the time, it was just too f'n dark to see what was happening! not the "artisic dark" but just too dark!!! overall, this movie was just entertaining, possibly...i mean seeing some crazy people is kind of fun...it doesn't serve any purpose...but it's okay fun...i got really bored, so did my friends, so did the whole audience...the movie had several scenes that SHOULD have been the ending, but instead weren't...weird.... peace, homies

I just saw it last night. Finally. Well.. it was everything I had expected from Rob Zombie as a director. Which doesn't amount to much. So I walked away feeling a bit suckered, but the movie had it's highlights. There WAS some gore in the movie, but not as little as xfreethinkerx indicated. More importantly, it had boobies! Lots of cliches, but some cool makeup work on Dr Satan. Overall, the movie was okay. I say that mostly because it was refreshing to see a cheesy horror movie after the seemingly long string of crap movies recently.

I personally thought it was a great scary movie. The opening scence in itself was worth it.
It has all the things a great scary movie should have...hot teenage girls, clowns, hot ass canibal serial killer in chaps, a scary small-town ghost story (Dr. Satan), disfunctional family, satanic rituals, physically deranged people, and an open ending meaning...you know what. SEQUEL!!!! I'm sure it would have been better the first time he put it together, I heard he had to make some changes to it before it was picked up. I know that MGM dropped it before release because it was too gory. All I have to say is Baby. :-9
