Dean Koontz's The Taking - just released this week.

I have been a fan of Koontz forever, there's not a book he's written that I haven't read. Most of his stories are a trifle formulatic, but each book is different enought to be entertaining.

If the Taking becomes a movie, I am not going, I'd watch the entire movie from behind a pillow, it's truly terrifying in some parts, it's a rollercoaster ride of a book, it moves super fast and reads super fast. And the ending has kind of a nice moral too it.

The true horror is back in this book, but it's got a nice feel good element to it too.

Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosscher (the guy who wrote Fast Food Nation)

Very indepth, almost done with the first third where he talks about marijuana's history and marijuana offenders in the United States. He makes some very nice points (how if you're arrested for marijuana offenses in different counties within a state the penality can vary from $100 to 10 years in prison.) And for most of the cases where you think "that can possibly happen" he has a true story to back it up.

Wow, I'm just cruising, finished Reefer Madness and am starting Pattern Recognition by William Gibson.

Reefer Madness was decent, but I feel the section about marijuana was far more interesting, especially how many times politicans against the legalization of drugs have children who are selling illegal drugs out of the politician's house or car. It gets to the point where you can accurately predict what's going to happen.

After Pattern Recognition I have Cryptonomicon, Quicksilver, The Confussion, and the Bourne series.

God I love Summer break.

The Princess Bride, by William Goldman (I think...the book is in the other room at the moment, but i am pretty sure that's his name.) I have seen the movie countless times, and can quote too much of it, but this is the first time i have read the book. It is interesting to see how the movie has been adapted. The movie actually stays very true to the book, and even has dialogue straight out of it. Mostly, the difference is that they had to cut a bit out for the movie to make the story short enough.

Very very funny.

Finished Elfstones for the third time -- great book. Goblet of Fire is lurking in my pile, and I'm re-reading Dilbert and the Way of the Weasel as a morsel book(i.e., I read it when I have a morsel of time, like in the bathroom or during a commercial or when I only have 5 minutes before dinner). As much as I like the comic, the actual books that Scott Adams writes are pretty funny too.
