Okay, here goes.....

My friends and I were watching Pet Semetary on VHS, and there's this one scene where the wife gets a premonition and calls home.

Well, just as the phone started ringing on the t.v., my own phone started to ring as well. At the same time, for the same duration.

.....Everyone in the place had a major case of the "chills up and down your spine".....

Alien (the first one) was the last time a movie scared me. The Omen & Jaws before that.

The first 45min or so of Jeepers Creepers was really scary. It all went downhill from there until the end where it kind of picked up. I always thought Halloween was scary when I was younger, and its still kind of scary.

Okay I'll tell ya one thing I've seen The Omen, The Ring, Ringu, The Exorcist, Jeepers Creepers, The Blair Witch project, Alien and I gotta say all a you dudes are a buncha big pussies if you were actually really scared by that shit. I saw all of em I thought they were highly overrated (Cept for Omen & Exorcist of course) and not even scarry at all. Especially The Ring and Ringu I was like "WTF is so scary about this?" My sister and my bro n law called me after they went to see it in theaters and they were shaking and you could hear their voices trembling telling me how scary it was so I expected something unbelievable...what a fuckin dissappointment. I can see how a woman would get scared by it but not a man. I haven't been really scared by a movie in a long time lots a old good ones that did it for me when I was a kid though like Pumpkinhead, and The Unnamable 1 & 2. But lately I guess I'm not really scared unless it plays on my fears like darkness. I'm not afraid of the dark in general but what might be in the dark so to speak. I hate not being able to see whats in front of me especially being extremely near sighted most of my life paired with really good hearing so I can hear everything goin on around me and can't see a damn thing. I guess having someone break into my house when I was like 10 through the window in my room and me waking up to an open window the next morning e'll make ya pretty scared a stuff like that and people or "things" lurking in the darkness that ya can't see. Ain't really been scared but mostly kinda freaked by a few movies especially movies that evolved around true-stories or actual events I remember The Mothman Prophecies didn't scare me but it freaked me out cause the thing was supposedly real and dude said he woke up in the middle a the night to go to the bathroom looked in the mirror and saw something other than his reflection in the mo fucka and then the freakin sink started howling Jesus I'd shit my freakin heart right out my ass about there. Lord forbid I ever see anything other than my reflection in the mirror in the middle a the night. As for the dark I keep a flashlight, a big knife, and a bat handy so lord forbid someone break in and me see them cause if I can see them...I ain't scared anymore and hopefully they will be.

I don't get scared by movies really...

I mean I enjoy watching movies like the Shining or Ringu for the sensation that they give...but its not really fear...it's probably closer to "excitement", but I guess you could describe it as being "freaked out", but in an enjoyable way.

Anyhoo....any such sensation dissapears as soon as the credits roll...

*I* am perfectly well able to differentiate between reality and fiction.

When I was young, Plotergiest had me going. If you look back on it and compare that to modern movies it's like comparing the original "Star Wars" to special effects hogs of today. I believe there is too much animation and not enough real attention to story. The Jason movies did nothing for me.
I have worked on a few of special effects heavy movies and it's all sort of a formula. We have become jaded and desensitized. Being killed in a movie is no longer enough.

Yeah my mom was just saying the same thing. She was complaining about how Blade 2 wasn't even scary and Vampires used to be scary. I'm like but it's an action flick really and not a horror.
