Id agree, it was a decent attempt, but no-where near as good as with Jimmy and Adam. Hosts seem like theyre acting, like theyre using someone elses writing. Even if the same was true with J&A, it wasnt nearly as apparent.

Joe wasn't too bad, far better than the other guy. It will just take some growing on. And they didn't do the man show toast, WTF!!! If they bring back the man show boy ill be quite.

Joe Rogan does stand up in Austin, and they air his shows on the access channel here so I was able to see one of his acts.. and I got to say he is one perverted, womanizing, smart son of a bitch. I think he will do well, but like 3zos said it seemed like they were just going through the emotions.

I loved Jimmy, but never really bought into Adam's act. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new guys can do.
While we are sort of, at least near the subject, why is it that everybody thinks they need to do the talk show host thing? It's so tired. It ruined a good thing with Craig Kilborne. It'll take the wind out of Kimmel's sails. Thanks for listening. |

Doug Stanhope is actually pretty damn funny.
His site is here I missed the first episode. But from what I've heard they are putting thier own personal touches on the show. Polka theme gone, more penthouse than playboy... I'm willing to give it a shot.

All good things must come to an end, and it'll probably be that way with The Man Show. Jimmy and Adam were the best, the originals. They could never be replaced.

Stanhope is really funny too. Never went to his site before [thanks GSRIDER] but remember him from Opie & Anthony and Stern [where Rogan is a semi-regular]. I think they'll work fine once they hit their stride...remember Jimmy and Adam are long-time friends so it came across far more natural for them.

i finally saw a re-air of the first episode.
Joe: Stoned out of his mind. Or just woke up. Doug: right on key Opening monolog: a bit forced. Massage/release sketch: funny but a bit too long, black angel charactor high point. Ass game: lame and embarrassed that i watched almost all of it. I missed anything after that cause i was playing my own bathroom games. We'll see what happens in episode 2

I pretty much liked it.
I always liked Rogan, especially in his News Radio days, and I just saw a Doug Stanhope "Comedy Central presents" show last Friday or Saturday, before Sundays' Man Show debut, and it was fuckin' hilarious. I think it'll work out just fine if they give them a halfway decent chance.

I'm a huge fan of Joe. Doug's not too bad either. I think thier chemistry is pretty good, but I don't think that it holds up to Jimmy and Adam. And I think they know it. Maybe they'll break into thier stride in a few more episodes, make it more thier own.

I look at joe and doug like i look at the two guys who replace bo and luke duke on dukes of hazzard, ok maybe joe and doug have a little more talent. It is hard to replace an original, my wife loved the man show more than I did....now she wants nothing to do with it.
Oh, but the way, I never watch the dukes of hazzard unless during channel surfing (I used my feet to turn the channels back in those days). I would only stay on the dukes if daisy was .... doing anything. |

Haven't seen the new show. Did enjoy the first series. Never understood why with it being a limited access show( cable and satallite) they had to blur out the naughty bits. Thats what we pay for instead of over the air TV.
