The Man Show, with new hosts Joe Rogan and some other guy

What did you all think? I don't think it will ever be as good as with Jimmy and Adam, but it wasn't too bad I guess.

3zos 08-17-2003 10:16 PM

Id agree, it was a decent attempt, but no-where near as good as with Jimmy and Adam. Hosts seem like theyre acting, like theyre using someone elses writing. Even if the same was true with J&A, it wasnt nearly as apparent.

punx1325 08-17-2003 11:31 PM

Joe wasn't too bad, far better than the other guy. It will just take some growing on. And they didn't do the man show toast, WTF!!! If they bring back the man show boy ill be quite.

JohnnyRock 08-18-2003 05:50 AM

Be tough to top Jimmy and Adam--But Joe Rogan is a funny guy, so i think they'll pull it off.

floonine 08-18-2003 06:02 AM

Joe Rogan does stand up in Austin, and they air his shows on the access channel here so I was able to see one of his acts.. and I got to say he is one perverted, womanizing, smart son of a bitch. I think he will do well, but like 3zos said it seemed like they were just going through the emotions.

wwcd101 08-18-2003 06:33 AM

I loved Jimmy, but never really bought into Adam's act. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new guys can do.

While we are sort of, at least near the subject, why is it that everybody thinks they need to do the talk show host thing? It's so tired. It ruined a good thing with Craig Kilborne. It'll take the wind out of Kimmel's sails.

Thanks for listening.

Maveric 08-18-2003 06:44 AM

manshow boy = ratings

GSRIDER 08-18-2003 07:30 AM

Doug Stanhope is actually pretty damn funny.

His site is here

I missed the first episode. But from what I've heard they are putting thier own personal touches on the show. Polka theme gone, more penthouse than playboy...

I'm willing to give it a shot.

absorbentishe 08-18-2003 07:58 AM

I missed it. I'll pass judgement after the season. I hope it's at least as funny. But it will be hard to top Jimmy and Adam, I always thought Adam was hilarious.

johnnymysto 08-18-2003 12:27 PM

All good things must come to an end, and it'll probably be that way with The Man Show. Jimmy and Adam were the best, the originals. They could never be replaced.

JohnnyRock 08-18-2003 12:27 PM

Stanhope is really funny too. Never went to his site before [thanks GSRIDER] but remember him from Opie & Anthony and Stern [where Rogan is a semi-regular]. I think they'll work fine once they hit their stride...remember Jimmy and Adam are long-time friends so it came across far more natural for them.

Grouper 08-20-2003 01:54 PM

I didn't think the first episode was up to par, either. But I'm willing to give Rogan and Stanhope some time. I think the same writers are there so it still has the potential to be good!

HikingHigh 08-20-2003 02:18 PM

Didn't catch it...but I just don't have faith in Joe and that other guy :(

CrazyIntent 08-20-2003 02:50 PM

Saw the first episode and thought it was ok. Seemed like they forced some of the dialogue, but it was overall pretty funny. I don't think they'll ever reach the original hosts. However, they can come pretty close given time.

GSRIDER 08-20-2003 04:22 PM

i finally saw a re-air of the first episode.

Joe: Stoned out of his mind. Or just woke up.
Doug: right on key
Opening monolog: a bit forced.
Massage/release sketch: funny but a bit too long, black angel charactor high point.
Ass game: lame and embarrassed that i watched almost all of it.
I missed anything after that cause i was playing my own bathroom games.

We'll see what happens in episode 2

JohnnyRock 08-21-2003 09:22 AM

I agree that it was hit or miss, but I'll keep watching...

Fremen 08-21-2003 04:10 PM

I pretty much liked it.
I always liked Rogan, especially in his News Radio days, and I just saw a Doug Stanhope "Comedy Central presents" show last Friday or Saturday, before Sundays' Man Show debut, and it was fuckin' hilarious.
I think it'll work out just fine if they give them a halfway decent chance.

Renegade 08-21-2003 07:02 PM

Pretty disappointing

I'm hoping that the new hosts settle in cause that opening sequence was terrible. Did anyone find that speil on hookers funny? The massage parlor skit was pretty good, but way too much man-ass in that ass game.

wiseguy1100 08-23-2003 12:12 PM

first episode was not too bad - but I agree with Renegade - way too much man-ass

Anyone know why Jimmy and Adam left?

mystmarimatt 08-23-2003 02:20 PM

they got tired of it, had other interests, jimmy got his own talk show. adam is... well, adam. hehe, ii like listening to him on Loveline

IckUber 08-24-2003 07:06 PM

Never the same with out adam and jimmy, COME BACK GUYS!!

Plan9Senior 08-24-2003 08:33 PM

I guess I am the only one who likes the new hosts. Adam severely annoyed me, however Jimmy was good. All in all, I am glad they changed hosts.

Jonsgirl 08-24-2003 09:26 PM

I'm a huge fan of Joe. Doug's not too bad either. I think thier chemistry is pretty good, but I don't think that it holds up to Jimmy and Adam. And I think they know it. Maybe they'll break into thier stride in a few more episodes, make it more thier own.

GSRIDER 08-25-2003 07:01 AM

The second show was MUCH better than the first. Less man ass, more titties, funnier skit.

willisfrits 08-25-2003 12:57 PM

I look at joe and doug like i look at the two guys who replace bo and luke duke on dukes of hazzard, ok maybe joe and doug have a little more talent. It is hard to replace an original, my wife loved the man show more than I did....now she wants nothing to do with it.

Oh, but the way, I never watch the dukes of hazzard unless during channel surfing (I used my feet to turn the channels back in those days). I would only stay on the dukes if daisy was .... doing anything.

santafe5000 08-25-2003 01:41 PM

Haven't seen the new show. Did enjoy the first series. Never understood why with it being a limited access show( cable and satallite) they had to blur out the naughty bits. Thats what we pay for instead of over the air TV.

zodiac3k 08-25-2003 03:57 PM

i hope it works out

the old episodes were pretty darn funny

and the host of fear factor is a pretty cool guy on that show, and i think he'll do well on man show

mute76 08-25-2003 04:05 PM

As long as the manshow boy is there, I'll watch. Will never be the same though.

Renegade 08-26-2003 09:32 PM

After viewing 2nd episode...

I have a bit more faith in the show. Definately funnier, but still too much either plain gross or stupid crap. Still much better tho. What was with the Q & A with one question tho? Weird.

Aaron0000 08-27-2003 12:39 AM

I think of Joe Rogan as Carson Daly's gay little brother. Hes such a tool and not funny at all. At least this other nobody guy has some talent.

lions20 08-27-2003 09:02 AM

Adam and Jimmy were much better and funnier. Nothing was funnier than Jimmy dressing up like Karl Malone. What happened to the little fat kid?

ktthequeen 08-27-2003 10:17 AM

i've only seen one episode and im not even sure if it was the 1st or 2nd episode, but throughout the show, joe just looked like he was reading from the teleprompter. BORING

lions20 08-27-2003 11:34 AM

At least the juggies are still around.

Aaron0000 08-28-2003 03:04 PM

YEah thank god for the juggies. They made that show
