How long can you go without T.V.?
Seriously. A day? A month? A year? If anyone can go without T.V. for a year (anyone who doesn't live in a shack in the woods) I'd be damn impressed.
But getting back to the point. Do you think you watch too much television? And even if you only watch it a few times a week? Could you go a month without watching any? I've abstained from watching television a number of times. And everytime I've gotten more stuff done throughout the day. But I've never gone more than a couple weeks. And I always slip back into watching it at some point. So am I the only couch potato at Tilted? Or do people find that they watch a bit too much of the tube during their average day? Is it time to turn off the television? (except for simpson reruns, I mean you gotta watch those, right? ) |

<--strongly dislikes TV.
i won't watch it by choice really..i haven't for years (excepting a couple times at my mom's house watching educational things on cable) ...once in a great while, if it happens to be on wherever i am, and something catches my eye, i'll glance at it for a few moments... why no TV? i haven't the attention span for it. it's not interactive enough. (on the other hand, i can sit at my puter on the inet for hours...) when i was a kid i'd watch sometimes...but usually only whilst also reading a book or something. oh, and i *hate* commercials. and most everything they stand for. so there

I couldn't afford cable (and we only have five regular channels that are very hard to pick up) a couple of years ago.
By the time I could afford it, I just sent the money to TFP. I haven't watched TV, except for movies on DVD when my kiddos come over, for over two years. It doesn't feel like I missed very much. |

I put a TV card in my computer so I wouldn't miss TV while surfing the net...I'm watching TV in the corner of my window right now! I feel awfully antsy when I go visit my friend who gets only 2 channels. But I survive. If I absolutely had to, I think I could last the year.

A lifetime if need be.
I watch mostly documentaries, though I do confess to having a weak spot for the US show Law & Order. My wife watches a lot, so I end up sitting in front of it more than I would like. I noticed Jennifer Garner (sp?) was looking particularly scrumptious in that silly spy show Alias. Mr Mephisto |

wow
tough question. i´d really love to be able to say that i could last ages... but i doubt i could. but, of course, my excuse is that i do study ´international television´ this semester... so i guess it all adds up as extra study. (especially since a MASSIVE amount of Aussie TV is American - and thus international - no seriously).

I went to Colorado a couple of weeks ago. I didn't watch TV for about 10 days. It didn't bother me at all. I had my laptop but didn't use it except for offloading some pictures from our camera. It was alot harder not to have internet access than it was not to watch TV. I REALLY wanted to check my e-mail a few times but couldn't.

I really don't like TV, at least not as it is broadcast. In the last three months I have watched one episode of the simpsons (when I was at a freinds house)
On the other hand I have downloaded and watched A lot of Invader Zim, and Tick, and Watch a huge number of movies ect. On the whole I don't think its so hard to stop watching TV, you just have to do it.

forever as well....no TV in my apartment, just watch a few DVDs (and VHS movies via the the VCR through the AIW 7500 card) on my computer system. Could not live without my old time radio shows though, so much funnier/more entertaining/scarier than most any of that shit on TV now.
I have to endure cable at my job (as a hab tech) at times - a client likes to watch CNN, a channel that I fucking hate to look at for more than five seconds. |

About all I use my tv for anymore is a receptacle for video game consoles and my dvd player and vcr. I will watch occasionally if it is on, but I don't watch anything religiously. I could probably go the year.

I seldomly watch T.V. except for the news reports....
Every now and then (once a month?) I'll watch T.V. night after night for 2-3 days... but other than that: only if I walk by while its on. I've got TFP, what do I need T.V. for?

Would movies count as TV? I don't watch TV shows at all, but I do watch movies. Even so, I could easily go for a very very long time without watching a movie or TV or anything. Probably however long as I wanted, I have no all-powerful force that's drawing me to the television.

I used to not watch TV at all. After I got DSL at my house, I was just in my room and was too lazy to get a coaxial cable to put into my room for Cable TV. But, now that I moved again, I finally got one and have watched a little bit of TV every now and then.
I can go without it for a while... |

I could probably go quite a long time. Thinking about it, I watch about 6-8 hours now (Off for summer) and all of the shows are just reruns I've seen before, so...
But would TV shows you download off the Internet count as TV? |

I've gone a week with zero TV, zero internet, nothing at all.
One week on vacation in Michigan. Jet ski, driving into town, screwing around with people, lots of fun, no need for anything else.
