As it is, I think The Godfather trilogy is in the lead, despite the last installment. Indiana Jones also suffers from a weak film (<i>Temple of Doom</i>, and without a new franchise will probably not be as popular as Star Wars among younger generations, leading me to name the latter as a contender for the title.
