I hope they are more interesting this time around than last season...
The do need to mix up the show and have a all female, all male, all old, all young season. Send the show to harder, mountainous places like New Zealand for the all male group. Go someplace like Siberia for the older group. And go to North western Australia or the coast of Peru. |

The tribe has spoken.
Survivor is my favorite show, I never miss an episode.
I dont know if adding Boston Rob and Russell to the next survivor is a great idea, I think they are doing it because both have become popular and it will get them good ratings. I dont know if I should love or hate Russell, in the past I have done both. He is very charismatic and is easy to like, and he uses his charisma to make friends and stab them in the back lator on. I hope that being in the final 3 and getting zero votes for the million has taught him a lesson. You have to have SOME friends on the jury, you cant win if you screwed over all of them. On the survivor website on the CBS site, there is a 10 min video of jeff probst talking about every new contestant and how he feels about them. I wish there would be a SURVIVOR: Skid Row - a season in which they only invited homeless people from the streets and homeless shelters, it would be SOOOOO entertaining. |

That would be a good show. But, I think they would have to say that you can't kill the other competitors to win. There was a funny comedy routine where the guy said, "You telling me that if I outlast these 17 people to day 39, I get 1 million dollars? By day two, there would be 17 dead contestants...)

I think they're jumping the shark by bringing these guys back. It signals that they don't trust that all new casts are going to pull the ratings. I mean, this will be Rob's FOURTH time on the show.

Federal agent guy made a huge move, I can only hope it was to gain the trust of Rob and the other members to work with him. But I think that is the last time anyone tells him a secret... The woman who found the idol was an idiot for trying to play it so early however. If she had been trying to vote off Russel however the outcome may have been different... |

My respect for Rob rose a few degrees after the tribal council.
He kept his head, delivered a sound reason why Christina should give up the idol, and managed to screw up an opponent alliance in the first council. Pretty good.

Shocked, shocked I tell you, to come here this morning and see this thread so far down the list. No one comments on the torch snuffing of Russell (or Ressel)?
Never liked him or his game play. He's a one-note player and he hammers on that fucker, even though he knows (and I think he's smart enough to know) that it's not getting him the win. The man is high on his ego and whatever smoke the producers blow up his ass. Didn't like Rob his first season, but he's a much more nuanced player. It's fun to watch him this year. Anyway, the real reason I came here is 'cause of something Stephanie said last night. Basically, you want to go into the merge with the number (your tribe bigger than theirs). Is that true? I can think of times where it's worked, but I can also think of time where the smaller tribe has found weak links in the other tribe and completely dominated them. I don't know that having numbers going into the merge is really all that advantageous. Thoughts?

I think its charming that you guys still treat survivor as a "reality" show. I find it more scripted than anything else out there, and the continued recasting of Boston Rob just entrenches my opinion.

I'm sure you have some compelling evidence to support that accusation. I"m sure they select challenges that can play to certain strengths but I doubt there is much more to it than that. Boston Rob is there because he's popular player and will draw viewers.

Yeah, they kept Rob around through the hard part, pre-merge. His usefullness to his tribe is gone and he is a huge threat to the other players post-merge. While his idol will save him once, it will betray the trust of...I think his name is Grant...which might cost him.
I've really liked this season as well. I thought they must have a really boring cast to do a recycle, but the other players have been interesting. Phillip is pure gold. I put him up there with Coach. As for Vaultboy's assertion: my response would be, why? Why would you waste money on writers? It's illogical. This show is absolutely the product of placing mostly-soft Americans in the middle of a mosquito-filled rainforest for 40 days with nothing to eat but rice and bugs. It writes itself, no reason to waste the money on actors or writers. That doesn't mean I don't believe that Burnett isn't a puppet master. I definitely believe he makes best use of every other factor he can control - from the editing, filming, Jeff questions, challenge timing and selection, reward timing and selection, etc. But there is no reason to use actors or writers.

Rob is just awesome,. I'm sorry.. I am busting up this season with all his hijinks around the idols.. finding it, running around pretending to look for it, inventing that "game" they could all play, coming up with an excuse about having to shit.. throwing that last clue off into the volcano, I was my laughing my ass off. He's also an amazing strategist, knowing to keep crazy Phillip around, placating the girls, etc. I really hope he wins (again).

Matt:
God created heaven and earth. God created man and woman. God gave man lips which open AND close. God gave MOST people the cognitive ability to determine when to keep them closed. Perhaps, Matt, God doesn't really care if you win or lose survivor. Perhaps he's busy. Perhaps it's up to you. Just a thought...

It's a common rationalization for people who can't accept random events in their lives. There always has to be an invisible hand manipulating things. It helps relieve oneself of responsibility

Religious aspects aside for now, Matt's surprised me with his fortitude in the duels on RI. Especially the bracing on the ledge challenge with Christina, where he does it with a hurt foot.
It'll be interesting to see if he can work his way back into the main game. I felt sorry for him whe he was re-sent to RI, then he mentions it was God's will. (le sigh) Btw, his girl on the show, Andrea? I keep getting mesmerised by her clear blue eyes. (yowsa!) As for Rob, I predict that he'll make it to the final four, if not three. He's got his mojo in fine working order and he sees through and around a lot of the subterfuge going on around him. It's amazing how much this season has brought such a 180° view on my feelings for him as a game-player. I still think he can be a biggus dickus. Phillip, Phillip, Phillip... Coach has nothing on you, my friend. You are one screwed-up entertaining individual. I hope a lot of this is an act.

Disclaimer: I am a Christian.
Matt is the sort of person that drives me up the wall - unable to discern which responsibilities are yours as a person and what God will provide. Frankly, this game is not well suited for Matt's type. He naively walks into a game of "false witness" believing that he can be the first person to play the game without bearing false witness, and win. He naively believes he must say everything in order not to lie. And, as I said before, he naively believes that he is on some sort of crusade and that God actually has a stake in this. It is a game show. God just doesn't care. Matt was one of my favorites UNTIL he got back in and acted like a complete dumbass. Now, I'd like to see him go away and quickly. Unfortunately, people like him become the poster-children of Christians for people who already don't care much for Christians. It isn't his Christianity that is the problem, it's the naivity of his youth and sheltered life.

True, that.
Also, I wish they would get some better challenges. These puzzle challenges aren't that interesting. Even though I want Rob to go, it would be interesting to see him, Philip and maybe Matt in the final three. Might be interesting tv.
