2010's standout spy drama series? (TV)
In 2010 three new spy series aired that I watched:
1) The reimagined NIKITA (which is far less like La Femme Nikita and more like ALIAS, imo), 2) Covert Affair, which is mildly entertaining fluff, but by far the most intriguiging and refreshing series has been AMC's Rubicon. (Rubicon (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) I found the show dripping with intrigue, with dialogue and interactions that were very layered and always meaningful. The show managed to create a tense atmosphere (seemingly) with very few tools and very little of the usual action and urgency present in so many spy dramas. I was disappointed to see that AMC canned it, especially since it seemed to do well in the reviews (and I assume well enough in the ratings). Did anyone else watch this? What did you think of the show? Why do you think it was cancelled? Personally, I think that AMC hit a little too close to the insecurities of the American consciousness with it, but that's just my biased view from the third world. I'd like to hear some other points of view.

Rubicon was the only TV series that my wife and I watched. I didn't realize until reading this post that it was discontinued. It probably was simply not shallow enough to succeed. A pity. Oh well, I guess we're back to relying on Netflix for all of our viewing.

I am not a TV watcher, in general.
Rubicon was the best TV I had seen in years. I knew it would be canceled the moment I finished the first episode. Damn me for being right.

I had all 14 episodes recorded; then found out AMC canceled it.
I deleted them all - figured "Why bother?" I watched part of the first episode late one night and fell asleep halfway through (from being very tired; not because I didn't like it). I kept putting off re-watching it, and next thing you know I had 14 hours worth on my Tivo for a month or so till I found out there would be no more. I still have about 6 unwatched episodes of Covert Affairs recorded. I'll probably end up deleting them, too. As for Nikita, I watched a few episodes, then noticed there were no new episodes scheduled for the next three weeks; figured it got canceled and stopped watching. Never did find out why they took that break, but I see it's still on. For now.
