In 2010 three new spy series aired that I watched:
1) The reimagined NIKITA (which is far less like La Femme Nikita and more like ALIAS, imo),
2) Covert Affair, which is mildly entertaining fluff,
but by far the most intriguiging and refreshing series has been AMC's Rubicon. (
Rubicon (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) I found the show dripping with intrigue, with dialogue and interactions that were very layered and always meaningful. The show managed to create a tense atmosphere (seemingly) with very few tools and very little of the usual action and urgency present in so many spy dramas.
I was disappointed to see that AMC canned it, especially since it seemed to do well in the reviews (and I assume well enough in the ratings). Did anyone else watch this? What did you think of the show? Why do you think it was cancelled?
Personally, I think that AMC hit a little too close to the insecurities of the American consciousness with it, but that's just my biased view from the third world. I'd like to hear some other points of view.
