Spoiler: Well, Season 4 and 5 have already been confirmed so I'm wondering if Dexter will help Rita's kids with their dark urges like in the books. I called it at the beginning of the Season that Dexter was going to be forced to kill Miguel. Can't believe what a snake Miguel is though, I honestly thought Dexter was going to have a real friend.

criminal minds and burn notice are better

can i tell you how happy last night's episode made me?!
it's just about damn time.

guy44 12-09-2008 06:30 PM

This season sure took its time - I mean, does anyone out there care one tiny bit about Deb and Anton and Quinn and Angel's girlfriend and almost any other B-plot? - but damn the last couple of episodes have been great. I think that one of my absolute favorite things in a movie or tv show is a great, slow-burn cat-and-mouse game between two intelligent characters. (Which is why The Shield, which was pretty much seven seasons of one man's cat-and-mousecapades, is one of my all-time favorite shows.) And man-oh-man this is a good one. I am so looking forward to the season finale.

About time indeed. It's a shame this Sunday is the season finale. :[ Season 4 will air the same time next year though!

Esoteric 12-15-2008 08:11 AM

What a great season finale. It's going to be a long wait until Fall 09.

Halx 12-15-2008 08:25 AM

I've been following this show religiously and I gotta say that I really enjoyed how the season ended. It took a while to get going. I didn't even realize Miguel was the bad guy until it became obvious. I knew the skinner was too flimsy of a bad guy to be the focal point of the season. I am concerned about a few loose ends:

- The ring and Miguel's legacy
- That IA chick's investigation
- The implication that Ramon did the dirty work
- Why haven't I seen Ramon's wife naked yet?

Esoteric 12-15-2008 09:29 AM

Lol, have they showed Ramon's wife in previous episodes? I don't think I've ever seen her before. She's hot indeed though, so is Rita.

Good points on some of the loose ends. No idea what's going to happen with that IA chick since she just seemed to vanish from the story. It'll be interesting to see what happens in Season 4, I can't fucking wait!

SecretMethod70 12-15-2008 12:46 PM

I think it's safe to assume that Dexter will dispose of the ring, and Miguel's legacy will be that of a hero.
The IA chick had her investigation shut down because Deb didn't help her.
What's wrong with Ramon doing the dirty work? It took Dexter to bring out the darkness in Miguel.
Ramon's wife is good, but I'd rather see Miguel's.

Oh, and yes, it was a great season finale.

RetroGunslinger 12-15-2008 03:04 PM

I thought it was a shit season finale. Sure, Dex killing the Skinner was a pretty awesome, but otherwise it all seemed pretty tame, even with the twist with Rita. I dunno, I just don't like the whole marriage thing. It irks me.

Xerxys 12-16-2008 03:38 PM

I watched this series from episode 1 through last week and I am craving more, I am surprised it didnt go the heroes route.... but it's starting to, somehow...........

Heres a trivial question for all of you, .... Who do you think the bay harbour butcher would be?? Despite we all know, I would never suspect the plot to be who we know it is

sorry word play for the folks who havent watched season 2.

I would think it's masuka for some reason. I dont know, I'm an asshole like that. Who do you think would be the bay harbour biutcher in the series if you were in florida Right now??

Dexter and Deb got married...incestuous!
Quote:

NEW YORK (AP) — They play brother and sister on "Dexter." Now in real life, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are husband and wife. Hall's spokesman, Craig Bankey, said on Friday that the couple eloped in California on New Year's Eve. They'll walk the red carpet together at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday — the first time publicly acknowledging their relationship.

Hall, 37, and Carpenter, 29, just finished the third season of "Dexter," the Showtime series in which Hall plays the murderous title character. They've been quietly dating for about a year and a half.

At their wedding, Carpenter's grandfather's wedding band was attached to her bouquet of white roses.

'Dexter' exclusive: John Lithgow nabs killer role

Dexter has found its next Big Bad.

http://popwatch.ew.com/photos/uncate...rlithgow_l.jpg

Sources confirm to me exclusively that John Lithgow is joining the season 4 cast as Walter Simmons, an unassuming suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America’s most prolific and deadliest serial killers. When the mad man (who is dubbed the "Trinity Killer" because he always kills in threes) relocates to Miami, Dexter becomes obsessed (or inspired?) by his efficient killing methods and ability to evade capture for almost three decades. (This is the new antagonist role exec producer Sara Colleton teased back in April.)

Dexter’s fourth season premieres on Sept. 27. Oh, almost forgot, bonus casting scoop: Keith Carradine is reprising his role as Deb’s daddy-figure ex, F.B.I. Special Agent Frank Lundy, for multiple episodes.

John Lithgow? Very interesting.

I like the idea of bringing back Lundy as well. He was a terrific character for exposing the huge daddy complex with Deb.

Esoteric 05-30-2009 05:11 AM

Interesting indeed. I'm going to freeze myself until Sept. 27th I think.

Nice news! My husband and I really enjoy this series. I do like John Lithgow but it would have been cool to see Christopher Walken in this role!

New trailer for the new season. /girlsqueal!!

Showtime: Dexter at Comic-Con

Sweet! I cant' wait to see Lithgow's dark side.

I'm posting on this thread carefully NOT looking at anything on the last page....

We recently started from the top on Dexter. AMAZING show. I had no idea how Season 2 was going to top Season 1... And then it did!

I'm about to launch into S3. I probably won't be back in this thread until I'm done with that, because I refuse to be spoiled, but for sure I'll come post some "OMGOMGOMG" after watching the S3 finale!

Xerxys 07-24-2009 06:40 PM

Ahhh, the finale of season 3 has been released then, I also never read anything in spoiler tags unless I don;t care for the film/movie. I will be sure to, ... watch it in the next two weekends when I pussy up, cave and purchase a TV.

I'm think about doing the same thing this weekend for the series Mad Men. I don't think I've seen more than two minutes of the entire production up 'til now, but seeing as it is only two seasons, (I believe) I should be able to catch myself up in time for the new season.

And to bring it back to Dexter... I think I need to re-watch season 1 again. It's so good.

Jetée 10-03-2009 08:01 PM

I may be a week late, but I'm watching season four's premiere at this very moment. So for those that are like me and need that innocous reminder, Dexter is now once again our weekly fix.

Whoa, Lithgow's ass! (sorry about that)

Here is the summation for the intriguing and darkly-comedic first episode of this season's Dexter: "Living the Dream"

Six months after the season finale, Dexter is now living with three kids and
a wife in a new home. Along with his new son Harrison, the complexities of
being a suburban father of three is making it difficult for Dexter to
concentrate on his work. His lack of sleep leads him to let a murderer walk by
bringing the wrong documents to court and causes him to get into a car
crash. Now retired Agent Lundy has returned to finally capture the mythical
"Trinity Killer" who has arrived in Miami.

Halx 10-03-2009 08:09 PM

As much as I liked the first 3 seasons, I did not like the opening to the 4th. It was sloppy, and I'm not talking about Dexter's work. Come on, you can't find a single hair in a bathtub that had a man thrashing around in it? All the new storylines jumping out of nowhere. Gah.

Willravel 10-03-2009 09:05 PM

I'd imagine if you've been killing consistently for decades, you probably have a nearly superhuman ability to clean up after yourself. Dexter's only been killing since he started with his father's nurse/Tasha Yar and he's got it mastered. He clearly has evolved since his earlier murders, where he missed the blood that soaked through before.

I'm really, really glad to see (now retired) Agent Lundy back. Last time he was around, things were a lot different for Dex. I wonder if they'll form a bit of a friendship in their search for the trinity killer.

Esoteric 10-04-2009 05:29 AM

Squeeee. Episode 2 tonight! Unfortunately I won't be able to watch it until tomorrow. :[

ratbastid 10-04-2009 05:49 AM

We're current now so I can play on this thread now!

I LOVE Lundy. And I love how things just got complicated for Deb.

Geez, is Deb going to uncover Dexter's past? His mother's file is the next one on her stack to go through! How ironic would it be for Deb to be the one who brings Dexter down?

And... now he's wrecked his car with a body in the back. That's no good.

Esoteric 10-04-2009 05:53 AM

Something tells me that despite how sloppy Dexter was with his kill, he wasn't that sloppy.

 But of course . . . I can almost see sis in on the secrecy. At least it's been considered, for sure.

I don't get home from work until amost midnight, so I am so grateful for the invention of the DVR. Uh huh.

ratbastid 10-04-2009 06:30 AM

Falling asleep at the wheel with bags of evidence in your car is pretty sloppy. I think the suggestion was that he left the scene clean, though.

Can you imagine what the police department would do if they discovered they busted the wrong department employee as the Bay Harbor Butcher? Jesus. LaGuerta would lose her shit entirely.

Esoteric 10-05-2009 11:35 AM

Episode 2 was good, but I'm already tired of LaGuerta and Angel's love connection. It's boring.

jewels 10-06-2009 03:33 AM

Yeah, but you know you're being set up for something reeeeally good.

Halx 10-06-2009 04:13 AM

Ep 2 was better than Ep 1, except for, as mentioned, the extra romance. I mean, seriously, who could see anything worth loving in Angel? He's just a pouty, pitiful man with a speech impediment. Oh, and this "tired" bit is tired already. Just give them man a good night's sleep and let's start this over again, on the right foot.

tcp 10-07-2009 11:02 AM

LaGuerta is no prize herself. I kind of like the tired part, because it means Dexter will make mistakes which is the only thing making the plot engaging. So far Lundy and the new serial killer haven't done much to stir things up.

ratbastid 10-07-2009 11:11 AM

LaGuerta needs to keep it in her pants. Seriously. Has she ever worked with anyone she hasn't fucked? Aside from Vince, I mean? She was angling for Dex in season 1, remember?

I have a lot of faith in the writers on this show. I'm willing to sit out a few clunker episodes because I trust we're headed somewhere. So far, season 4 isn't really selling it, though.

Now: Episode one, I looked at Lithgow, and all I could see was 3rd Rock from the Sun. Episode two... I'm back to how it used to be with that guy. Edgy, dangerous, complex... It was what enabled him to be such a complete ham on 3rd Rock. I forgot for a while there that the guy's a fucking actor, not a sitcom comedian. I remember now. He gave me chills in Ep 2.

SecretMethod70 10-07-2009 11:31 AM

Huh. I guess I'm the only one who has enjoyed the first couple episodes. I'm ambivalent regarding LaGuerta/Batista, but I trust there will be a payoff down the road. Dexter being tired... that's just realistic. People have a hard enough time getting a good night's sleep when they're working a job and have a newborn. Add moonlighting as a serial killer into that, I think the plot totally fits. As for Lithgow: I already love him and his character. I'm eager to see where his creepiness goes.

ratbastid 10-07-2009 12:05 PM

No, yeah, I like the "too many plates" thing happening in this season. And I'm a HUGE fan of Retired Special Agent Lundy.

Ditto that. Is it just me, or has Keith Carradine matured oh so well, becoming a really fine actor who gets hotter/sexier with every appearance?

Jetée 10-16-2009 06:46 AM

What's with the angle that Quinn is now a "dirty cop"? What happened in-between the season premiere, where he was pissed beyond words at Dexter for botching the murder trial, and now in episode 3, where he's trying to butter Dex up with club-level seats to a football game? What did Dexter witness Quinn do, and when (what episode)?

Also, if the only reason the love interest for Quinn was brought about to get her topless, then it was all worth it. She's so fine.
The reporter, I mean. She reminds me of a less-quirksome Regina Spektor.

Esoteric 10-16-2009 07:00 AM

Spoiler: In episode 2 Quinn takes some money from the safe at a murder victim's house.

Jetée 10-16-2009 07:19 AM

Hm, I must have missed that part. Or it is now minisculely-vague in my rapidly-declining stage of memory loss.

Thanks, Esoteric. The cliffhanger (sort of) to the last episode was very good. I wonder what Dex is going to say to explain it away?
