Little Miss Sunshine
I was able to catch Little Miss Sunshine last night, and I thought it was a fantastic movie. I really recommend it. It's really funny, well acted, well written, well directed, and well shot. It probably deserves a couple Oscars.
I personally am not a big fan of The Royal Tennenbaums, but I think LMS shares some similarities to it. A quirky family with some outrageous character traits, coping with hardships and coming together. LMS feels less absurd though... the characters are more real and easier to relate to. Steve Carrell does a great job, too. And not just the comedic parts. This man is going places.... If you go see it, pay attention to the scene where Dwayne (the boy) runs out of the bus. This was my favorite scene of the movie... it used an amazing, kind of subtle camera shot, with Dwayne in the foreground and the rest of the family off in the distance. meh... if you like/pay attention to cinematography, I think you'll like it. The scene also provided some good insight into both Dwayne and Olive's characters. All right, well, just go see it! It's good.

I went to go see Little Miss Sunshine last Saturday evening. Though I heard good things about it, I found the movie better than I thought it would be. I would recommend seeing this movie, and I have. I read an article about how people seem to be doing that, recommending this movie to other people, I don’t know if it really more so than any other movie, but it seems this movie if being aided quite well by word of mouth.

Just got back from seeing it with a friend - definitey worth its weight. Even without the captions that I need for 100% understanding, it was definitely an entertaining and insightful movie. And I could name by sight all the freeways/highways they were on as they drove - brought back memories

I just got back from this one. My brother and my good friend told me it was excellent, and the last time the two of them said the same thing about a movie was American Beauty.
All I have to say is it has been a LONG time since I've laughed so hard I've cried during a movie. Character building is great, just an all around excellent movie. Good to know that someone's still making quality entertainment! |

This is a WONDERFUL film. Very much in the Garden State vein--sort of a "sad-funny".
Steve Carrell has a vast amount of untapped depth, it's clear. The first moment we see him in this film, he's in as dark a place as any human being can be, and you TOTALLY get it. "Did I mention that I'm the preeminent Proust scholar in the US?" Grek Kinnear was good too, but this part wasn't all that big a stretch for him. It certainly didn't draw him out the way As Good as it Gets did. The little girl is AWESOME. Her reaction when the pageant MC is singing at her is absolutely brilliant. |

Actually caught it with my father a couple of weeks ago; spectacular. I was really impressed with Steve Carrell; his depth as an actor is almost over whelming at first. Especially for someone who watched him do his first nationally aired poop joke on The Daily Show.
Agree with the comment about the comparison to Garden State. Quirky, and absurd but the actors pull it off. The grandfather and Son were my favorites.

I personally thought the funniest character in the movie was the van. Great movie btw.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was more than just entertainment - all the characters had real conviction and integrity. I was sort of admiring each and every one. Awesome stuff to see it all come together.

I saw this last Sunday. I had huge expectations for this film, and all of my expectations were fulfilled. This was great. There was just enough emotion in the characters to be more than a silly comedy. Such an enchanting bite of time... Don't miss this one...
