nightmare concept

this concept studies the interaction between what you see, what you read, and how you feel while reading it. notice how the direction of the text slows your reading down in relation to the message inside the text.

just an idea i had after a restless nights sleep...

have you ever had a dream where a turtle bit your finger and you couldn't get it off and while you're sleeping you start shaking your arm violently and it wakes up your girlfriend and she wakes you up and asks you what the hell is going on and you tell her that you're dreaming about a turtle that won't let go of your finger?

i have.

mine is more like this: I feel like I'm being watched and pursued, I'm running but I'm struggling to move my legs. Eyes peer at me from every angle. I wake up screaming and soaked with sweat and for some reason I'm holding a monkey wrench covered in banana pudding.

mmMmm, pudding.....

No ... but I did wake up on the ceiling once. That was pretty freaky.

very interesting, I wonder what effect changes in the text size/thickness would have on the message's impact.

Art degree: Yes

The things I show here are just for fun and represent specific ideas and concepts, they are not ment to be subjective pieces of art (like an abstract painting or illustration).

Other people do that better than me.

I like it. When I think of the nightmare you are describing I think of colder colors than the red that the figure has. Expecially with the word icy in there.
The figure doesn't put as much fear as curiosity in me. Perhaps having the figure bathed in a blue light instead of a red would match the description better. Nice work.

I think the figure takes away too much of the focus of the text. What I would do is to fade the figure toward grayscale anf dim the brightness on it, but leave the hand the same intensity and give the tips of the finger a blue color instead of red-based.

On the subject of freaky dreams, I've woken up from a dream about flying and fallen 6 feet onto my bed and sprained my wrist.

I just ripped off a Poser model and did some cheap tricks in Photoshop. This is not high art. Its just a concept/idea I had. This took me like half an hour of casual work. I'm glad most people can relate to it. It shows that the concept is successful. To those who say change this...and this...make something blue...you're right. But that's your nightmare, not mine

Yeah, the falling feeling is annoying. I wake up from it and my heart is drumming fast. Sucks. I think it has something to do with snoring or if you stop breathing for a moment.
