CaliLivChick's Portfolio
Alrighty, I'm partially out in the job market again, and wanted to get some opinions of my portfolio site. I've attached some pieces here, but to get the full impact, please go to: CaliLivChick's Portfolio (PM me for the link). I've done the entire site myself, contents, layout, everything. Oh, and my current avatar is one of my pieces as well. =)
Would love some constructive criticism, as it's been awhile since I've done design work full time. Thanks in advance! Edit: changed the last photo to a larger size. Thanks NG. =)

Nice stuff on your web-site. However, I would definitely change the font you use on the opening page.
Whilst flowing scripts are very common on "personal" webpages, you don't often see them on professional websites. I like your ceramics. What kind of work are you looking for? If commercial, then you might want to emphasize that portion of your portfolio on your site. Mr Mephisto |

My ceramics and oil painting are hobbies, but if someone were to offer to buy my pieces, I don't think I'd turn them down. I'm looking for print work, mainly. Design, page building, basically professional/commercial. How would you suggest I emphasize that portion? Thank you again for your input, it's nice to hear what people think, since there's no "customer" for this that I can get input from.

What you could do is have two sites, one for the more personal art work and another strictly for commercial work/ portfolio things.
I agree that the font could be a bit bolder or at least stand out more. It doesn't have to be 'blocky' though. This is an excellent place to download free fonts: http://www.fontfreak.com/index3.htm Think like a client when putting it together. You know, one that doesn't know crap about art, etc.

Alrighty, I'm working on getting a new font, and working on figuring out how to make it more professional looking, but I have done some upgrades to it... made the links go to smaller pages that just fit the artwork, and put my contact info (linked) along the bottom of every page... thoughts?

fun work!
What is your focus? is it graphic design? or general art? art teaching? It's difficult to tell from your website, until one views your resume. I do like the layout. No matter what these folks say, I really like your font. I like your general style. It's the subject matter that I would refine =) Definitely a great start.

Figured I would let everyone know (if they aren't in chat or in Moe's) that I got a job! I'm designing ads for the Perfect Wedding Guide, and loving it! However, I am still taking critiques on my portfolio (got your e-mail, Sage), and your input is appreciated, but my available time to work on it is now diminished, so any suggestions will be implemented at a later time. =) Thanks for all your input!
