I re-redid my website again.
<a href="http://thatonionpatchisagraveyard.com/"><img src=http://thatonionpatchisagraveyard.com/logo2.gif></a>
(click the logo) So tell me what you think! It's still the same kind of stuff I used to post, just a little more sophisticated... I'm inking pretty much everything nowadays. And watercolouring it too! Yeah. Tell what works, what doesn't. |

First impression: My eyes hurt.
That background is way overpowering IMO. I'm not too keen on the font but I suppose it sort of goes with the drawing styles. You may want to put some border around your pics and then just have a gallery instead of having to load each picture or guess by filename conventions what they are. Also, when I try to go to 13boomhauer (sp?) I get a 404. You also need some way to get back to the homepage when viewing the drawings. I don't know maybe make the whole header a link back. I'd put some sort of graphic on the header instead of a really long font..maybe break up the length of the header and put a style sheet in. I'm no designer.. so take this for what it is Last edited by Glory's Sun; 06-05-2006 at 01:16 PM.. |

I agree on having to get back to the home page. Each cartoon should have a link to it.
Some are 404'ing... On my monitor the main font is pixellating...did you use a size true to page size? What I've done is design my headers and page links in a very large format, then shrink them down in PS, save as jpg's and put everything into tables. They don't seem to pixellate that way and every page and link is identical.

Well, a couple of things:
-White text on a bright pink background? Ouch! Very difficult to read. -The logo graphic isn't anti-aliased, so you've got lots of "jaggies" on the text. Your graphics package should have an option to anti-alias text. -The logo font is a bit ugly I have to say. The 'o's look a bit like 'a's, and the cursive style makes it look like the letters should join - but they don't always do so. -Frames: Are they necessary? The address bar always displays the same address. If I want to link to a specific cartoon, I might not know how to get the right address, Even if I do, the link (e.g. http://thatonionpatchisagraveyard.co...gantafist.html) will display the page without the logo. -I can't get back to the homepage from a catoon without using the back button. On the plus side, I have to say that I did enjoy your cartoons! EDIT: Also, try clicking on the first image, and then using the '-' button. It brings up the homepage, but loads it in the current frame. So you end up with two logos being displayed. Repeat for even more logos! You can avoid this using the "target" attribute of the link tag. And the cartoon's boomhauer and beyond don't seem to work...

I must confess that I don't like anything about your current website. As its purpose is to show off your drawings the design should be way more artistic/creative.
It doesn't have to be over-the-top or anything, just a funny, original idea. How about a drawing board? The checklist could be your main menu and you could add some animated buttons (=pencils/erasers) at the bottom allowing the visitors to manouvre back and forth between your drawings.

Sorry about the links. They should all work now.
Thanks for the input. I was thinking of changing it to pink text on white backround, or something like that. I was trying to make the logo in the top frame into a link that sends you back to the main page, but it opens in the bottom frame, so I gotta figure that one out... |

Wow, that bright pink should be banned from all web sites. I agree with the others that it makes my eyes hurt. I would recommend using some of the colors that you use in your drawings in the site design. I think it would fit better. Pink text on a white background would probably be worse. If you really want to use pink, then I would definitely suggest a more subtle pink.
As far as navigation goes, have considered using left and right arrows instead of + and -? I think most people would find that more intuitive, and you probably wouldn't have to put an explanation of how the navigation works. |

I think nancys idea is a wonderful idea. Since the drawing are purposefully amateur, the lay out and presentation are important. Instantly improved my opinion of the same drawing.
