I got a dozen long stemed roses from my fiance last valentines day. It was really sweet. Hes always doing something sweet whether its a e-card out of the blue or a quick little I love you note. Honestly I couldnt ask for anything more.
As far as tacky I never got anything like that. I cant think of anything I want, other then to be with my fiance.

My boyfriend last Valentines game a custom basket which he filled and decorated himself. It had candles, candy, two towels with big red lips on them, just a bunch of cute holiday stuff. And I knew he decorated it himself because I found unused ribbon and paper in his truck that night when we went out to dinner

- a poem from who is now my husband (moonstrucksoul)
was the best gift -tackiest? Never really considered any tacky. -what would i want? nothing, really. I don't celebrate V's Day at all, especially with buying things. We celebrate V's Day year-round. Ok, so I'd like to find my husband covered in chocolate or whipped cream. |

Tackiest thing was an ex breaking up with me... kinda sucked, but it was for the better.
I just want to spend some quality time with my boyfriend, we haven't had much of it since moving and trying to get settled in VA... so hopefully that can be done.

My first Valentine's Day that I wasn't single, I completely ruined it. My then boyfriend picked my up for a movie, and inside the car was a rose and a long stemmed chocolate chip cookie. He was kind of nervous, I could tell, so he said that his parents helped him pick them out. I laughed and said that he must not have told his parents that I didn't like chocolate. Later, I had realized that his parents in fact did not help him, but he did it all on his own and was shy to admit it. Oops.
My tackiest gift was a bag of gummi bears. My best, well, that hasn't really happened yet. I have gotten too many functional gifts like books and CD's.

I have gotten very few Valentine gifts. One I loved was a single rose, a Hersey Hug, and a Hershey Kiss because hubby couldn't hug or kiss me then. I could also say - Hubby and I lost our virginity together on Valentines Day.
Corniest - Can I say hubby completely Not getting me anything - not even a card? What I'd like to get? Just a small box of chocolates. Never got a boc of chocolates that I didn't just go and buy for myself. Sad isn't it.

My mom usually gets me better Valentine's Day presents than my husband...go figure. I think he thinks it's not a "real" holiday, so he saves the sweeter things for my birthday and Christmas.
This year, though, I think we're going to a fancy hotel for the night (with a hotub..w00t!), so hopefully lots of romance, and lots of sex

Best: Last year had to be my best V-day night/gift. My b/f and I had only been going out for a few weeks so I wasn't real sure as to what level we were going to celebrate V-day. I came over to his place and he had rented disney movies (one of my weaknesses!) and had fruit and choc. (another weakness!) to dip it in. Yummy! We spent the rest of the night cuddling and talking. I know it sounds elementary but I loved it!
tackiest: a can of crush soda in middle school (it was a fundrasier one of the clubs was doing) |

Tackiest -- when my ex sent me a dozen roses then said, "well, I felt obligated because it was a fund raiser."
Best -- yet to happen!

I hate valentines day. I feel so pressured to get something nice, and then if I get something I don't like I'm so dissapointed. And then going out is such a hassle because everyone else is trying to go to the same restaurant you want to go to. It's just that everything feels so forced and unnatural :/.
Weeeell, maybe I'm jsut saying this because my boyfriend is gonna be really far awar for Valentines day and I have to feel that the holiday sucks so I don't get too sad. It's on a saturday too this year damn it.

Last year my girlfriend had an amazing surprise for me. She told me that after I finished work I had to drive straight into town and then ring her. She then directed me to a car park of a lush hotel and told me to meet her in the bar. She then took me upstairs to a lovely room where there was a hot bubble bath run ready for me with candles all lit around it.
There was also a bottle of shampagne, two glasses and a big fat spliff ready to smoke. We then went for a lovely meal, got quite drunk and had a really romantic evening. It was the best valentines day ever! How the hell can I live up to it this year though? |

I guess I'm lucky in that I've had several really incredible Valentine's days. I like lots of imagination and planning. V-day is very special as far as I'm concerned and I hate to think that the S/O is feeling obligated to do something, so the best is the one where we're thinking only of each other and find thoughtful ways to convey that.

Definetly used to wear solid black on Valentine's Day....as an angsty youth, I thought I was making a statement.
Best....eh. I guess the year my ex brought flowers to my house the weekend before V-day (it was towards the beginning of the week) with the proudest grin on his face...it was pretty adorable. Tackiest....uh, probably the big stuffed white lion I got my freshman year of high school from the guy I was seeing. I think I got him a keychain. I really hate Valentine's Day, though.

I don't ever remember getting a really cool V-Day gift....the obligatory card and flowers, sure. But nothing ever......special.
Mind you I never got anything overly tacky so I shouldn't complain I suppose! Ultimate V-Day gift would not have to include a big fancy gift or anything - just the realization that your love really tried to please you.....for me it would be something really crazy like a hot air balloon ride (although it's too damn cold where I like to do that), or a trip to the zoo or a bonfire somewhere.........actually - no that's not true. I've always had this crazy dream about celebrating Valentine's day somewhere tropical and warm...and having my sweetie lead me down after dark to a private beach where he's laid out candles and a little picnic. Then we could make love on the beach by moonlight and frolick naked in the waves. Oh wait...too many details?

I always tell my guy...if you cant show me that you love me all year, its not really going to mean anything to me for you to go all out on one single day (but he does buy me a reeses peanutbutter cup heart)
that being said...we do try to save up money to go somewhere nice for dinner that we have never been

I was given business cards that he made on the computer for me... it was a gift of the heart, since we spent about 5 hours figuring out how I wanted them to look, then getting them all aligned and printed. I always have a smile when I give them to people because it makes me remember that day.

hmmm...the best gift, was my now ex...he cut out little multi colored hearts and sprinkled them from the parkign lot to our bed...and on the bed was a box. and when i opened the box there were boxes inside boxes...with chocolate and a nighty and such, but the best was the last tiny little box, which held a limited edition swarchovski crystal heart that had belonged to his grandmother with a little note that said.."i have given you everything, now here is my heart" it was very sweet..lol..and he handmade me a card...and then he took me away for 4 days to a secluded lakeside cottage with a boat....why did i break up with him again?..lol

This will be my hubby's and mine first valentine's together, but we're not doing anything traditional- it's also one of my closest friend's 30th birthday, so we're all celebrating that instead of SAD (single awareness day).
Never really received a good pressie, nothing memorable comes to mind as far as this one is concerned.....

a high school boyfriend broke into my locker and covered it in flowers. made the locker smell great. have had dinner made for me, wonderful! went to the butterfly pavilion and that was amazing.
I think going to a rave on V-day woudl be fun, just cuz ive gone to one and want to go to another. beyond that, something simple like doing art together for the afternoon woudl be fun. or going soemwhere warm is always fun! simple pleasures.

Best -- Lebell wrote me the most beautiful card. I have read it about 20 or 30 times in the last 2 days and my heart still skips a beat every time I look at it. Ahh, he is so wonderful!
(Isn't it grand that a few well chosen words can mean more than the most expensive gift?)

The sweetest pleasures for me are the simple straight from the heart gestures. No need to buy me flowers or candies, just give me a hug and a kiss and my heart is content.
