We're 53% of the world's population..
Ladies,
We are 53% of the world's population yet look at your local, state, federal governments and see how many women are representing you there? (This should probably go to the political boad). Make an effort to vote, and vote for women. 33% representation is the magic line, under that most elected women officials will make their decisions based on what the men want (ie. more bombs, more war), above that line women start voting with their hearts/guts - for future generations, for the planet, for our (not that I have any) babies. I'm just a bit distressed with the world at the moment, still trying to figure out what I can do about it. I know that with more women in government, things would not be quite so bad - in fact I'm sure of it. So, if there's an election coming up in your area soon, vote for the woman, if there isn't a woman representing your part, lobby your party to get a woman representative. Run yourself! I don't know, I'm just feeling helpless but so desperately want things to change. Cheers, Julie |

I'm all for women voting, I think people need to vote more in general. BUT, i will not vote for someone just because they have no cock. I will vote for someone who looks like they'll represent my wishes in the government. It's a difficult thing, and i"M all for female politicians, but if they don't support my views, then I'm not interested in them.

that's the problem, women aren't in the position of getting voted for in the first place, so many parties just don't have female candidates for positions.... it's weird because we're not stupid, we've no less to offer than a man does yet we quite often do think differently to men and have different ways of dealing with conflict and also ways of communicating which could be beneficial.
*wondering* why aren't there people like my mum in parliament? she'd fix things |

I'm not going to vote for someone just because she's female. I'm going to note for the one I think would suit their position the best. And there are never any women to vote for anyway.

ditto. female representation in higher positions is atrocious atm. Nevertheless to just vote for a woman JUST to boost the ratio is not reason enough to get my vote. Nevertheless, most of the jerkoff men in there wouldn't get my vote either.

I can understand the need for sexual parity, but voting for a candidate based solely on her sex alone is as much of a mistake as voting for Arnie because he's a big, famous, charismatic Hollywood movie star. It's just not a notable characteristic I'd want to base my decision on.
Here's a partial list of women running for govenor in California: http://www.marycareyforgovernor.com/ http://www.georgyforgov.com/ http://www.ariannaforgov.com/ http://www.audiebock.com/ complete list of candidates: http://www.capwiz.com/sacbee/dbq/cagovcand/ Some (men and women) are more qualified than others, and the rest are just laughable.

I dont think having more women will stop the gov from being dumbasses.
Choices in the US gov [if i'm right, i'm not sure] are made by senate or president yes? and the president half the time has to do as the senate says or it'll cost him/her right? So for an example we have more women in the senate for this theory. However, anyone in the senate will face being bribed by multitudes of big name companies trynna get themselves more money. So in effect, it's companies making hte decisions for the lot of teh citizens [a bit cynical and dramatic but it's to make a point] So until someone comes up with a study that says women in general are less sucseptible to bribes, corruption and whatnot, it's still an individual thing where either they're a good guy/gal or bad. Of course on another note i believe that women are perfectly capable of doing a good job or better job in the gov than men but the underrepresentation reflects the fact that conservative attitudes are still strong and women are still expected to move aside for men when it comes to the top positions. So it's really a societal thing rather than a voting thing.

I won't vote for a woman, just because she's a woman.
Unfortunately, many women that rise to power have done so by acting like men. Though I want to see high-ranking females in government, I take comfort in the saying, *The hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world.* |

My thoughts are that if there were similarly-stanced candidates who supported what I believe in, I'd definately vote female.
Of course, I tend to think this is a waste in big elections such as the presidency. Because if a female somehow made it as the democratic (how I vote/believe) candidate, you need to think realisitically. I'd rather have a male who wil support what I believe in than a female candidate who lost due to her sex and have a president with the mental equivalency of a president, like say Dubay. If that made any sense (it did in my head...) |

Okay, this is getting slightly off topic, but here's another candidate for CA govenor:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...161/4ya2p.html Hollywood in politics is getting so out of control. I just don't know what to think anymore.
