Not something you can purchase, but...
A hint of geekiness. Mention a lesser-known element or toss in a quote from Star Wars, and you'll be considered 10x more attractive. |
Normally I would swear by Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in blackest black but a few days ago while makeup shopping with my BFF I took her advice and picked up Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume in Brown/Black and decided I have officially switched brands. The brush is unusual. I was a little skeptical because it's a giant brush and I have very tiny, very straight lashes so I figured they would clump with a brush like that but I was completely wrong. This mascara curls and fluffs (does that fit? lol) my lashes perfectly. Also, I can add second and third coats and there is absolutely no clumping... Check it out, especially if you have short lashes. The difference is like night and day :)

I keep coming back to this a couple times a year. They have a few types but I've only bothered with the Lemongrass version, for fine hair. Smells really nice and clean. And makes my hair really fluffy. So if you need volume and / or your hair gets weighed down easily, try this.

It's a bit spendy, but it is a wonderful product. It makes your skin glow. I use it with Estee Lauder Foaming Cleanser. You can see a difference in your skin after a week.
My first one died after two years, but I found it was a warranty issue and received a new unit, so it's a good company to deal with as well. Darn, I can't post the image or the link but it's a Clairsonic skin care brush. |

I'd probably end up saving money on the scrubs, washcloths, and other exfoliating treatments I spend money on over time. |

It's a wonderful product. I think you would save money since I only need a dime sized dollop of cleanser and it foams up like crazy. I think I go through a 10 oz. tube of cleanser in about a year, maybe a bit longer? So the $18 for the Estee Lauder is not so bad. Thanks again! |

Picked up this stuff L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base to go under my wedding makeup, and since then I've been using it by itself. Keeps me from getting greasy, makes my skin look great, and since it doesn't really have any color to it, it doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup.

Anyway, I freakin' hated that stuff. It didn't lather at all and it felt like it left a nasty residue behind. I had to combine it with functionally foamy facial cleanser to get it to rinse off. |
Snowy, I picked up some of the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base today. Tried a bit on my cheek to see how it felt and my skin feels so soft. I am excited to see how it does under my makeup.

Awesome, Star! Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Hey chicas, I haven't read through this in a while so sorry if my request is redundant but I need some help. I know it's not a request thread so sue me :p
Can anyone recommend a good body wash for dry skin? Preferably, something that's fairly easy to find. :) |
I like this:
But I find the body moisturizer used immediately after the shower (leaving some water on the body, gently blot-dry before applying) is what makes the difference. For me, this is the most healing, moisturizing stuff: Available online and in Lush stores. |
I actually really like the Kroger generic body wash--it looks like Dove but it's the store brand. We discovered it because Dove's unscented body wash might possibly have tallow in it, and hubby doesn't use products with animal products. The upshot is that it's cheap. I soap up with it and then leave it on for 30 seconds or so. I was reading in Good Housekeeping a couple months ago that most people rinse off their moisturizing body washes too soon, so I started leaving it on for a bit and that seemed to help. After I get out of the shower, I rub down with this Home Health lotion while still wet. It makes me smell like a baked good.

Cadre - for those really dry wintery skin days I really like Aveeno's Oatmeal Body wash - they have both a fragrance free and Lavendar version.

Aveeno is especially great if you get the winter dry skin itchies.
