Amazing. Apply a thick coat on wet nail polish. Within 10-20 minutes, your nails feel and look like glass. I can do my nails at night and not wake up with sheet prints in the morning.

Sally's has it. I've also seen it in CVS and Publix. It used to be sold only in salons but I think the word is spreading. Regarding cost, anywhere from $8 - $13. Depends on where you go. But it's deffo worth it.

Aveeno Positively Smooth shave gel.

It works.

It's all natural. No bumps, no chemicals. I use it everywhere.

Shaindra 06-17-2009 03:40 PM

Cetaphil non-foaming cleanser. It's a fantastic make-up remover.
Crushed aspirin (add to Cetaphil, make a scrub, leave on as a masque)

Has fixed every single lip issue I've ever had... Lip, though, not cold sore.
Makes them incredibly smooth and soft. I put it on at night and wake up cracks healed, no flakes and stuff in the winter time. And healed sunburn after about two days.
Kicks windburn, too.

ametc 06-17-2009 08:27 PM

Aveeno Shave Gel, The Body Shop Hemp Lip Protector.. both are AWESOME. The hemp lip balm is soooo moisturizing.

Also Bath and Body Works My Favorite Lip Balm works amazingly, as well.

I like Redken's Smooth Down Butter Treat deep conditioner for very dry hair.

http://www.getprice.com.au/images/up...1014532909.jpg

Used weekly, it makes my hair soooooooooo smooth and doesn't tangle at all. also, it lets me keep my curls.. so it's not heavy for my hair at all.

Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle. The "deeeeeep" version. Nothing but compliments on soft, soft hair. :)

lostgirl 06-18-2009 11:47 AM

This stuff is the best conditioner ever. It makes my hair soft and shiny without weight.

Haven't tried the hemp lip stuff. But yeeeears ago they made a sleep mask thingy full of smell good thingys. I used it for years. The scent never faded and I'd instantly drift off to sleep after a night of partying. I can't find it anywhere now :(.

But I prefer this for my lips:

http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/2...2304360815.jpg

No shine. No color. I'm all over it. I have one in virtually every room in my house.

SabrinaFair 06-21-2009 10:16 AM

Smith's Rosebud Salve.

Great on lips, great on chapped skin, great on cuticles, great on the face for a dewy glow. I've used it since high school, and usually buy 5-6 tins at a time so that I never run out.

ametc 06-21-2009 06:36 PM

Is it weird that I've tried most of these products? >_< **product whore** Only thing I've never tried was the Aussie product. Never tried Aussie ever.. But! Will one day..

wooÐs 07-12-2009 07:38 AM

Nah, not too weird :p.

Just bought this and the conditioner:

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/375...74full2936.jpg

I've seen it before and checked out the reviews online. 4.5-5 / 5 stars is what led me to run out and buy it. The stuff's phenomenal. The scent is similar to Juicy Fruit gum. The conditioner is weird to use as it's baby puke green, but the slip is amazing - great for long hair.

You can find it in Regis salons (Trade Secret, Hair Cuttery, Famous Hair, etc.) Get it!

Yes, I wear hairspray. And I've sworn by this stuff for almost 10 years now. No white flakey shit. Flexible hold. Great for scrunching or for smoothed out styles. Price is great for what you get imho. And the scent isn't overpowering. yay.

You beat me to it! Now may I add Nutraderm moisturizing lotion for dry, sensitive skin? The two are the perfect combo, even for a gargoyle like myself with oily, sensitive skin. I believe both products are made by Galderma (and come with bona fide dermatologist recommendations.)

redsneaker 08-13-2009 11:17 PM

My newest fave is Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup. It's a liquid mineral extreme wear foundation that WILL NOT slide off - even if it's super hot outside. It covers well without feeling heavy.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...29/noxzema.jpg

Simple. Classic. And works way better than any of the fancy cleansers I've tried.

ColonelSpecial 08-14-2009 01:33 AM

Noxzema is also great on body eczema. I have it on my arms and washing with this gets all the red off of them.

My pick is Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion. It works well, smells great, is inexpensive and isn't greasy. I hate lotions that are even a touch greasy.

jewels 08-14-2009 02:43 AM

ISO Bouncy Creme. The best I've ever tried for defining and defrizzing, especially curly hair, without having to use a gel or something scrunchy. And the big container lasts forever.

There's a Lush thread already, but this stuff is amazing for dry skin.

'King of Skin' body butter

Quote:

Roll out the red carpet, here comes the King Of Skin! Just one stroke of this regal body butter bar banishes dry skin from your kingdom. Let the cocoa, coconut and shea butters release their power as you glide it from top to toe. Fresh avocados and bananas leave you soft and flexible, while oatmeal, sandalwood oil and rose absolute soothe skin and repair damage. Use on wet skin after a bath or shower, rinse and pat dry.
My skin is like a baby's butt all day long. Better than anything I've ever tried. It is pricey, but it's worth it imo. If you have dry skin, GET THIS.

Shaindra 08-14-2009 03:47 PM

I forgot my other fav...not really a product, but perfect for a cheapy like me.

Sea salt + olive oil or grapeseed oil = sea salt scrub. Add in your favorite essential oils if you want. Mmmmm.

Kaliena 08-16-2009 11:44 AM

Cetaphil-

Great lotion, no scent and no oily residue. Recommended by my dermatologist since I have eczema and cannot use a lot of other beauty products.

Fantastic make up. Very different. Takes some getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, your skin will never look better. They have great colors too.

I've discovered headbands with the elastic underneath:

I love them. And they come in all sorts of styles - leather, tortoise shell, fabric, etc. And they stay put. A new way to wear long hair yay!

Lady Bear Cub 10-13-2009 07:02 AM

kenra silkening gloss. it makes you smell like your 13 but its still amazing. it makes your hair look so healthy and defines your layers.

raiha 10-20-2009 12:41 PM

Actizen's Vitality Purifying Essence.

Purchased it during a trip to Singapore last month! The only product that actually works wonders on my blackheads and significantly reduces them!

wooÐs 10-21-2009 07:22 AM

Large thermal brushes

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/378...roundbrush.jpg

Excellent for adding body, volume and curl - straightens too. Every woman should own several of these. And of course, use them with a hairdryer on dry hair for max effect. Heats up the brush like a curling iron, for those who may not know.

wooÐs 11-22-2009 11:46 AM

I'm honestly impressed with this stuff. And no, you don't have to have scaly, crusty, nasty old lady feet to use it lol. It really is different. I thought it'd be like baby oil or something but it's not at all. It absorbs instead of coats. And it smells nice. You can use it on your feet, elbows, cuticles, etc. I highly recommend it. Keep it on my nightstand.

This product has worked wonders for my skin. I have combination skin with many scars left from mild acne (pimple here and there) but my skin heals terribly always leaving a mark. This product has not only faded the marks quite a bit, but it has enhanced my complexion, less red patches and a much much more fairer complexion overall :)

wooÐs 12-22-2009 07:36 PM

I've used this off and on for years. Keep going back to it. My skin gets super dry. I actually apply to dry skin then rinse off. Skin's baby smooth afterward especially if you shave after rinsing. Good stuff and el cheapo.

Pertaining to Lush:
http://www.lushusa.com/circle/main/out/00411.jpg

Mask of magnaminty. Smells like mint ice cream. My skin is combo and my face tends to dry out. This exfoliates it and leaves my face super soft and clean.

Haven't tried anything new from them in a while. I really need to though.

This is the one product my dermatologist said to stay away from because of the apricot pit particles. But I love facial scrubs, so I try to find gentler ones. Good Skin, which is available only at Kohl's I think, is the best one out there, but expensive. Clean and Clear's Good Morning scrubs are terrific.
A couple of times a week, I use this:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Q1r9IaWpNI...il+of+olay.jpgLove it!

wooÐs 12-29-2009 08:29 AM

Yeah - I know, I've heard that before too. They scratch. Dermatologists recommend scrubs with beads instead of the apricot. But they just don't do what the apricot stuff does on my skin.

...they say smoking is bad too. *lights up* :p

snowy 12-29-2009 09:17 AM

Have you tried Clinique's Exfoliating Scrub? It uses beads instead of pits, and I find that it leaves my skin feeling as clean as the apricot scrub used to (I think it's the menthol). I am downright addicted to the stuff.

wooÐs 12-29-2009 09:29 AM

Is it blue? If so I think I have. And I do remember it smelling menthol-y. I think I remember it feeling sandy too instead of beads just rolling around -

snowy 12-29-2009 10:04 AM

http://www.clinique.com/images/produ...q_6164_250.jpg

No, it's not blue. It's whitish, and almost like a paste.

wooÐs 12-29-2009 10:17 AM

Oh no - haven't tried it then. I'll check into it tho - see if I can get a sample.

Wonder what it was I tried that was blue and scrubby and menthol. Swore it was Clinique. This was like, 10 or more years ago though.

loneviolist 12-29-2009 10:28 AM

What? No Palmer's Cocoa Butter? It's done for my skin what the prescription moisturisers never could (I suffer from eczema). That is to say it manages to prevent post-shower dry skin! 's awesome.

wooÐs 12-29-2009 04:26 PM

I've bought it before but the chocolate smell is overpowering to me I think. I don't want to walk around smelling like a candy bar lol. If they're ever able to come out with an unscented version, I'm on it.

loneviolist 12-30-2009 04:04 AM

There is one around, 's pretty good, but still smells a little like cake. (the way to a man's heart is through his stomach?)

genuinegirly 01-01-2010 07:56 AM

Not something you can purchase, but...

A hint of geekiness.

Mention a lesser-known element or toss in a quote from Star Wars, and you'll be considered 10x more attractive.

StormBerlin 01-01-2010 10:37 PM

Normally I would swear by Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in blackest black but a few days ago while makeup shopping with my BFF I took her advice and picked up Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume in Brown/Black and decided I have officially switched brands. The brush is unusual. I was a little skeptical because it's a giant brush and I have very tiny, very straight lashes so I figured they would clump with a brush like that but I was completely wrong. This mascara curls and fluffs (does that fit? lol) my lashes perfectly. Also, I can add second and third coats and there is absolutely no clumping... Check it out, especially if you have short lashes. The difference is like night and day :)

I keep coming back to this a couple times a year. They have a few types but I've only bothered with the Lemongrass version, for fine hair. Smells really nice and clean. And makes my hair really fluffy. So if you need volume and / or your hair gets weighed down easily, try this.

It's a bit spendy, but it is a wonderful product. It makes your skin glow. I use it with Estee Lauder Foaming Cleanser. You can see a difference in your skin after a week.

My first one died after two years, but I found it was a warranty issue and received a new unit, so it's a good company to deal with as well.

Darn, I can't post the image or the link but it's a Clairsonic skin care brush.

Thank you! I appreciate the picture and the welcome!

It's a wonderful product. I think you would save money since I only need a dime sized dollop of cleanser and it foams up like crazy. I think I go through a 10 oz. tube of cleanser in about a year, maybe a bit longer? So the $18 for the Estee Lauder is not so bad.

Thanks again!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter is AMAZING to say the least! I use the oil version when I'm on the go because it drys quick.

Picked up this stuff L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base to go under my wedding makeup, and since then I've been using it by itself. Keeps me from getting greasy, makes my skin look great, and since it doesn't really have any color to it, it doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup.

If this will keep me from getting greasy, I'm on it. I never had oily skin but in the last year or so, my skin seems to have changed and I get oily a lot faster. I don't like it

I used to have one that was both a hairdryer and a roundbrush, with interchangeable heads for different brush types. Best hair investment I ever made. It's unfortunate I had to abandon it in the move.

Wonder what it was I tried that was blue and scrubby and menthol. Swore it was Clinique. This was like, 10 or more years ago though.

I had a blue sandy scrubby thing that felt mentholated. I just Googled it and found it was "Clean & Clear Blackhead Clearing Scrub." Which, granted, isn't anything like Clinique, but it meets your description. I'd link to it, but I can't post those yet. GETTING 15 POSTS IS HARD FOR ME NOW, APPARENTLY.

Anyway, I freakin' hated that stuff. It didn't lather at all and it felt like it left a nasty residue behind. I had to combine it with functionally foamy facial cleanser to get it to rinse off.

Starkizzer 11-11-2010 07:21 PM

Snowy, I picked up some of the L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base today. Tried a bit on my cheek to see how it felt and my skin feels so soft. I am excited to see how it does under my makeup.

Hey chicas, I haven't read through this in a while so sorry if my request is redundant but I need some help. I know it's not a request thread so sue me :p

Can anyone recommend a good body wash for dry skin? Preferably, something that's fairly easy to find. :)

jewels 12-01-2010 06:33 AM

I like this:

But I find the body moisturizer used immediately after the shower (leaving some water on the body, gently blot-dry before applying) is what makes the difference. For me, this is the most healing, moisturizing stuff:

Available online and in Lush stores.

snowy 12-01-2010 07:41 AM

I actually really like the Kroger generic body wash--it looks like Dove but it's the store brand. We discovered it because Dove's unscented body wash might possibly have tallow in it, and hubby doesn't use products with animal products. The upshot is that it's cheap. I soap up with it and then leave it on for 30 seconds or so. I was reading in Good Housekeeping a couple months ago that most people rinse off their moisturizing body washes too soon, so I started leaving it on for a bit and that seemed to help. After I get out of the shower, I rub down with this Home Health lotion while still wet. It makes me smell like a baked good.

I'm actually currently using Aveeno body wash and I'm still having dry skin. I love Aveeno lotion and have had good results from it but the body wash just doesn't seem to help. Perhaps I'll look into the Lush products.

Thanks ladies!
