Recent Nipple Piercing, concerns
So I just got my nipples pierced 4 days ago... When he did the left one I passed out, which is weird, I don't normally pass out... and then when I cleaned it the next morning (3 days ago) I passed out again, When I cleaned it again that evening I was just fine. I've avoided morning cleanings and I've been fine, so far... I've read that they're only supposed to bleed for 12 hours? Well the left one has bled a little bit every night. And the right one hasn't bled at all, is this normal? I'm started my period 2 days ago, that might have to do with it. But, oddly enough, despite the bleeding, I'm more worried about the right one. On the left hole on the right piercing there's a small indentation, this worries me because it's not on any of the other holes. So I'm wondering, what does nipple piercing migration or rejection look like, there's no swelling, although they are tender, is it too soon to be worried? I have straight surgical steel barbells, and I've read that if the balls on the end are large enough to press against the aureole that can cause migration, but my breasts are small (proportionate but small) and there's no way to change that... Again, is it too soon to be worried?

The best thing you can do is call/go back to your piercer. They will know best what to be looking for and what is or isn't normal.
As for the passing out, perhaps you're slightly anemic? Many women are during their period. Try taking some iron pills and getting a few good solid meals a day. Don't clean the piercing in the morning/evening until after you've had something to eat and given your body a chance to wake up. I'm certainly not a medical expert, but it's my best theory.

good thoughts ono. didnt know about menstraul anemia, chalk that up to useful info!!
You know, unless its super painful, oozing huge amounts, super swelled, or turning colors, its just probably your body reacting as any body does under injury, and its likely it will improve. Im betting the passing out thing is a mental thing (ever give blood and pass out during that? its a huge irregularity in your breathing that causes that, or so my doc told me when he scarpped me off the ground). But never hurts to check. You paid them for their time, and theyre always happy to help if for not other reason than avoiding tarnishing their reputation with a bad peircing.

Go back to your piercer if you are concerned, he or she should be happy to check it out. We can only tell you so much from a description. That said, nothing I read in the OP worries me. Have you ever had anything else pierced? Nipples are a more sensitive than your ears but the concept is the same. Some discharge is normal in the first few days, so is some blood. Remember that you just got stabbed with something, when you clean it you are reopening that wound. If something is wrong, you'll usually know it.
Do not skip cleanings. If anemia is/could be your problem then clean your nipples after eating but do not skip it. It's very possible that the passing out was related to menstrual anemia but it is also very possible that it was related to the pain. Many people feel faint when getting their nipples pierced, some pass out. It happens. I had to sit down and relax for about five minutes after mine were done or I probably would have passed out too. Edit: Wow, this thread is old. I really need to start looking at dates.

i didn't have any problems with my nipples. but when my nape started to grow out it was pretty disgusting. i would just go to your piercer and ask them to have a look.

I think everyone else has given pretty good advice. If you're worried, then you're worried and the only way not to be worried is to get reassurance and the best way to get reassurance is to go back to the person who put them in there. They will know what's good and bad, and what to do if things arn't going as smoothly as they could be.
Hopefully it turns out alright and it's nothing to be concerned about! |
