How To Make A Pic Smaller - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

Hi,
I'm not a tilted newbie, but I'm pretty green when it comes to technology. I have a pic that I want to post. It's something like 760 kb and it can only be 100 kb or something like that. I don't know how to resize it so that I can post it. Any helpers out there???

What Art programs/image editors do you have on your system..? MS Paint or anything like that?

No problem, I used to do technical support this will be easy... Are you using windows i.e. is there a start button on the bottom left handside of your screen?

There's like a "Paint" option, which I tried but it doesn't cut/paste/edit

Sweet! Hopefully it's Adobe Photohop (not Acrobat).

Open Photoshop: Go to File > open (and navigate to the image you want to change).

Then go to the top menu again and find Image > Image Size... (this will give you dimensions).

Write back with the dimensions, and we'll go from there.

you could also try sending it to someone who has PS or GIMP and letting them do it for you until you get one of those programs

A easy program is called Fast Stone Image viewer. Its free too (and no spyware like many other programs). Just look it up in google or any search engine to get it. It lets you resize pics and so on. I really recomend it if you don't want to go out and buy photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop elements works great, on the file menu just hit "save for web", and then adjust the pixels for the required file size, 320 x 240, I think.

Hah. Well sort of...only if you want to participate in the internet though. For quite a long time I simply used it for information gathering (still mostly do for that matter.)

if the forum allows attachments then you can upload them. Or you can post pictures using

[img ] location of pic [/img ] {no spaces}

I recommend Micorsoft PowerToys. There is an image resizer that makes it very easy. Just right-click and resize. Of course this isn't as powerful as Photoshop or any image editor for that matter but it's very easy to use and good for newbs.
