How To Make A Pic Smaller

Hi,
I'm not a tilted newbie, but I'm pretty green when it comes to technology. I have a pic that I want to post. It's something like 760 kb and it can only be 100 kb or something like that. I don't know how to resize it so that I can post it. Any helpers out there???

What Art programs/image editors do you have on your system..? MS Paint or anything like that?

Daoust 03-04-2005 08:10 AM

I dont' know... lol. I'm such a loser...

Stug 03-04-2005 08:11 AM

No problem, I used to do technical support this will be easy... Are you using windows i.e. is there a start button on the bottom left handside of your screen?

Daoust 03-04-2005 08:14 AM

There's like a "Paint" option, which I tried but it doesn't cut/paste/edit

There's like a "Paint" option, which I tried but it doesn't cut/paste/edit. I do have Adobe and AutoCad.

Sweet! Hopefully it's Adobe Photohop (not Acrobat).

Open Photoshop: Go to File > open (and navigate to the image you want to change).

Then go to the top menu again and find Image > Image Size... (this will give you dimensions).

Write back with the dimensions, and we'll go from there.

No, It's Adobe REader...

Daoust 03-04-2005 08:25 AM

Wait. I found something called Microsoft Picture It. This may be what I'm looking for!

Stug 03-04-2005 08:28 AM

Oh well, thought it was going to be easy for a second there... hahaha!

What is your file called at the moment i.e. cat.gif or cat.bmp or cat.jpeg..?

Stug 03-04-2005 08:33 AM

Here's a really easy 'resizing' tutorial for Picture It: http://www.marysgraphics.com/picit/basic/resize.html

*cough* IrfanView *cough*

you could also try sending it to someone who has PS or GIMP and letting them do it for you until you get one of those programs :) *note I don't have either of them*

Daoust 03-04-2005 08:50 AM

It's all good ladies. Today I have learned something. Not everything, mind you, but something...

A easy program is called Fast Stone Image viewer. Its free too (and no spyware like many other programs). Just look it up in google or any search engine to get it. It lets you resize pics and so on. I really recomend it if you don't want to go out and buy photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop elements works great, on the file menu just hit "save for web", and then adjust the pixels for the required file size, 320 x 240, I think.

I just ask someone on here. lol

knowing how to resize your own pics is kind of an internet equivalent of tying your own shoes, imo.

Hah. Well sort of...only if you want to participate in the internet though. For quite a long time I simply used it for information gathering (still mostly do for that matter.)

eeef2 04-13-2005 08:54 AM

i know how to resize,
BUT how do i attach pictures into a post?

Glory's Sun 04-13-2005 09:10 AM

if the forum allows attachments then you can upload them. Or you can post pictures using

location of pic {no spaces}

I recommend Micorsoft PowerToys. There is an image resizer that makes it very easy. Just right-click and resize. Of course this isn't as powerful as Photoshop or any image editor for that matter but it's very easy to use and good for newbs.
