HOW TO INCREASE TFP STATUS? (I'm not yelling)

Just wondering how to get rid of that unattractive "ROOKIE" status/symbol below my ID. How many posts?..., or..?....

Just participate - it will come in time - and hopefully it shouldn't be a long time :)

Being a rookie is not something we frown upon by the way - it's just a part of who you are and your identity here :) You shouldn't find anyone giving you trouble because you're a rookie so I wouldn't worry :)

Mr.Deflok 01-16-2004 12:33 AM

You've still got a lot of cock to suck before you get to the big league buddy.

YeapYeap 01-16-2004 02:30 AM

hahaha, This thread made my day.

bonehed1 01-16-2004 09:47 AM

LOL @ Mr.Deflok.....got to love that answer.....anyways, just enjoy the boards and participate and the rookie status will be gone.

JUST HAVE FUN DAMNIT!!! :)

absorbentishe 01-16-2004 02:25 PM

We have status here? Damn, I came her for the chocolate cake. Thanks, that puts a damper on things.

bonehed1 01-16-2004 02:30 PM

chocolate cake sounds good right now...damnit absorbentishe.....now im hungry

Jephree 01-16-2004 02:57 PM

Hey Mr. Deflok, I'm happy staying at the rookie level if it means going through the same experiences you've had to become a 'big leaguer.' "Enjoy!"

bonehed1 01-16-2004 03:07 PM

I have been upgraded from peon to maget.....so just post but dont just post to get upgraded. Post because its FUN!!!!!

Vespertine 01-16-2004 03:56 PM

I like being a rookie....

It keeps me from looking like an old fart, like the rest of ya ;)

Lebell 01-17-2004 02:51 AM

Don't worry about tags or "status".

It's all about being a contributing part of the community.

THAT'S what will get you respect around here.

:D

Tophat665 01-17-2004 07:21 AM

Deflok, you are a cut up. Thanks.

Jephree,
Rookie just lets people know that you are finding what your persona is going to be here. That's a good thing. I honestly can't recall how many posts it takes to get to the next level, or even what that is, but it really isn't all that many. If you want to shake the rookie tag, the esiest way to do it is to find a forum in the Academy or Intersts or Creativity that really interests you, and find threads that you have a lot to say about and say it. Above all, though, be nice. If you say something iffy, soften it with an emoticon. If you are going to argue in Tilted Politics especially, be ready to back it up: we don't do flamewars here; that's what Fark is for.

But mostly, just have a good time. And you've given me a good idea for a new custom status, so thanks!

Jephree 01-17-2004 01:14 PM

Good stuff....Thanks for the advice fellow TFP'ers...

I believe you mean maggot! ;)

But you are correct with your advice....don't post just to increase your number. Quality over quantity will get you where you want to be.

absorbentishe 01-20-2004 11:47 AM

<B>numist</B>, you didn't get the memo? It was really good, with a big glass for milk. Well, it's too late, I think I ate the last piece.

Zamunda 01-25-2004 12:45 PM

by the by, I'm not worried about upping my status, it'll come, but will donating do anything to help? I really like this site, and it should continue... a screw it, i'll donate, I wont a little Donor sign on my name... at least until I get to put a pic up there or something.

Edit: took out the offensive language... sorry

Jephree 01-25-2004 11:02 PM

cuss cuss

Zamunda 01-26-2004 03:50 PM

so what exactly do you gain from becoming tilted? or more specifically, what status should one achieve to gain access to more of the site

and in response to the last post-- status and access change as one participates. i can't honestly tell you what comes where because i just notice things at random. what you'll probably end up doing is posting in a handful of forums and so the others don't seem to change because you don't look at them. then one day you're like "holy shit, when did that one show up?" and so you dive into it and check it out--only to find that the people there are those you want to associate on these boards because they've also made their commitment to improving the community over their own status. patience. trust me. posting until you receive your avatar or the ability to change your title is a hollow goal--once you're there, you sit there wondering "well, what next?"

Zamunda 01-27-2004 09:38 AM

to be quite honest, its not the title, I was slightly interested in the titty board... but i guess im just as interested in politics so I'll make do

Contrary to the bandwidth and user statistics, this community is so much more. Hell, even Wayside is better :D But, then I'm a little off-kilter myself ;)

Thank god... Flamewars are such a waste of thought power.

The Politics board is great, in fact, the way the respected forums are divided makes life so nice in a public forum.

Today I feel like sharing poetry, tomorrow I'll debate democracy, and next week I'll jump into Philosophy...

having said that, wtf is going on! im so confused...there are 2 ppl talking about how they are rookies when they post, and yet one even has an avatar and a custom title, and these are not old posts, they are from january 2004

mystmarimatt 03-08-2004 03:51 PM

Yup, and it's 2 months later now. 60 days * a modest 5 posts per day = 300 posts So, as you can see, it's not unreasonable by any means for a person who joined in Jan 04 to have an avatar by now :)

You can be my bitch if you want, it's won't get you anywhere though... but maybe when you do reach your post count where you can have a spiffy custom title, it can read:

"I was Crackprogram's bitch!"

yeah, that's the stuff! and hey, can you pick up my dry-cleaning before you start on your chores,

Participation is the key to increasing your status. If you participate all things Tilted will become yours. :)

I'm not sure what you expect the mods & admins to do. You have been a member for 1 year, 2 months, and 15 days. In that time you have managed to make 11 posts which they considered worthy enough to be a contributing post to the forum.

It comes down to how much you want to contribute to the forum. In checking the site, you actually have 350 posts here. Sadly, you rarely left the Titty Board when you had access to it. There is so much more here to read and be involved in. Join the rest of us in the other sections of the forum, contribute posts which are more than one sentence and you will see your status change.

SiN 01-14-2005 10:12 AM

^ well said. Thanks :)

Samalie 01-14-2005 10:35 AM

The bottom line

Contribute to the site.
Post valuable information, or share stories, or ask questions.

Then sometime, when you least expect it, you'll look beside your name and realize it changed from Rookie, without you even realizing it.

The bottom line is, it really doesn't matter - I'm not suddenly awash in congratulations because I popped my rookie cherry - I'm just another member, same as I was when I had the rookie tag, and I still keep contributing as best I am able, when I have something relavant to say.

Sammy

uncle phil 01-14-2005 05:31 PM

hmm ... you shouldn't feel special :p

seems to be an onging misconception ...

User Title (Rookie, Tilted, etc) is post-count based.
worthwhile posts ... there are a couple forums where posts do not count towards this total. Nonsense, for example. Why should be obvious.

User Title is part of the board software, and is automatic.

Your status generally refers to the mysterious full member privelige.

these 2 things are somewhat dependent (notable contributions are a 'filter' for the status processing) ...
('Status' is indeed on a case-by-case basis).

but they are 2 different things.

and, above all ... don't worry about it!
Just hang out, participate, enjoy yourself. That is what really matters.

lite campfire 01-16-2005 06:25 PM

Thank you for that specific and unabiguous information, it's what I was looking for in this thread in the first place.

Hain 01-27-2005 08:48 PM

Rookie, eh, for now. This place has a better feel to it than most forums because:
1 - I go to school with a load of closed minded, hypocritical, cliche junkies that couldn't have a creative or unique thought if it came up and beat them with a bat,
2 - I see some here like the band Finch, specifically "What it is to Burn" :sings to self "...Like a bad star, I'm falling faster..." ,
3 - :high pitched: some of these avatars are so cool! :coughs: I mean...
4 - Where is the crazy science freaks--I mean nerd club--Tilted Science!... I have an idea to discuss with them...

TheHornDog 01-29-2005 01:28 PM

paulskinback 01-30-2005 02:55 PM

I was a newbie for ages, and although i'm only 1 step up, I have enjoyed every post that I've added to. This is the only forum i've ever been part of that allows me to share my own thoughts, yet also get ideas and new information and ideaologies from. Don't worry about what status you are within this forum, but wonder how you can contribute and become a worthy part of our community.... that added, it has to be said that i'm nothing compared to the great moderators, who have obviously been chosen for the right reasons, and they also add a massive contribution... (and i'm not kissing arse because its not something i do)

become a part of the discussions, and enjoy

noGon 01-30-2005 06:03 PM

wolf 01-31-2005 05:34 AM

The one thing that impressed me most about this forum was the span of topics. Most forums have maybe two or three thread topics, so it can be very limiting. Then if you post something general, it gets lost. Here that doesn't happen.
